Remember to make the game public on the Itch page. If you don’t know how, you can try and read this https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/looper-4/to-all-of-you-uploading-on-itch

And he just builds a tunnel building MMO during a 48h Jam, with full character customization, Names, World etc xD
Did you really do all these things in 44h?! (Its 4h Unitl the end of the Jam) Amazing!

The character voices are hilarious and it was surprisingly addictive. I just wish there was a better way to choose what I'm picking up! Awesome game.

@jk5000 Right, thanks for reminding me

@bloham I did the development on twitch and there is history on GitHub as proof  Although I thought I would be able to do more actually

@liammasters thanks  yea, I know about this issue but I did not come up with a good solution

Major plus for making a game that is multiplayer at all, that's hard!
Gameplay is simple but works well for the 2d style.

love the character customizer.

This was a sweet experience. The giant money sign in front and center of the UI, the tediousness of carrying only one item at a time, and the pointlessness of ladders, kind of detract from the simplicity of the cool multiplayer experience. Just being in a place with a few folks that are building something 2D, would have been cool by itself. So it's interesting to see that you added more mechanics that somewhat took away from the experience. The music is just super relaxing and chill. Overall I had fun, thank you for the game.

Super fucking impressed dude! Love how casual you made the "oh there is a multiplayer mode as well" thing. Oh passport, that's strange. Oh custimization. That's a weird focus. Oh... I see! Quite a few on the server as well currently! Very fun!

Any good tips on where to start when wanting to develope a game with Rust? Curious if you have any link you've found useful.

Customization, multiplayer, good game dynamic, and you can dig very deep. Was online with Tommy (don't know who it was) and we found the bottom free-fall.

Wow. For LD 46 I made a game with an online high score server and I thought that was impressive. Now I'm just in awe of the guy who made an entire MMO with character customization. It would be nice if the jumping were a little smoother, you could carry multiple blocks, etc, but man, the ambitiousness of this entry is off the charts, and, for the record, I think the music is good.

Having online multiplayer in a compo entry is really impressive! The game reminds me of the hours and hours I spent playing Motherload back in the day. haha

It's beyond amazing that this jam game has online servers! You only had 48 hours to make this, no need to pop off to this extent!:D
Otherwise I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the game. I don't really know how to put this to words, but the music and art style really made this game's heart shine - it felt very genuine, like it was made by someone who was just here to have a really nice time.

@chrisvifzack That is called GitHub Pages  Here's some info about it: https://pages.github.com/

@airwaffle I am using my own engine thats pretty raw, but if you want to develop a game in Rust I would guess Bevy engine is the most known thing currently - https://bevyengine.org/

@jason-wilson its just a sandbox so the goal is to just chill  You can also try to be the richest person, but I know there is not a lot gameplay-wise

And @everyone else too, thanks for kind words!

Dead gods, I'm at a loss for words, I played this on Simpathey's stream with everyone, I wasn't thinking I'd get that "genuine MMO feel" out of a game Jam MMO game (its crazy that its actually an MMO!)

I played the single player web version. Seemed like it would be a fun quirky little number and it surely was!

I couldn't figure out how to get back to the surface once I had dug really deep though! The thought of placing blocks to do it seemed like it would take forever! Maybe some elevators? (Unless I'm missing something!!)

Hm. And I didn't realize that you can play online there and the game seemed boring. The presence of an online mode radically changes the attitude to the game, it's a pity that no one was on the server when I played :(

Great result!

The fact that it's a multiplayer game makes it amazing, but there was no one on the server to play with :sob:

I think it would have been nice to have more interactable elements to fool around with. Also, after I fell off the bottom I didn't know how to reset.

I love walking around the destroyed server lol. This is a really cool game though, especially the multiplayer aspect and being able to customize your character (I tried to make my character look as stupid as possible, of course). The music and art combined gives me nostalgia for old flash games in a similar vein, and I mean that in the best way. Really fun & unique entry.

Creating an MMO sandbox game for Compo seems like an enormous undertaking! And while the mechanics aren't incredibly complex, it was definitely fun for what it was. The wacky character customization and the multiplayer aspect definitely improved the experience.

The graphics are simple but get the job done. It would have been nice to have some extra "game feel" bits like particle effects or breaking/placing animations for blocks. The audio is a short loop, but managed to not get old very quickly (I played for over an hour, so by the end it was maybe a little tiring).

It might have been nice to have inventories or other ways to improve efficiency when mining, or have multiple stations where you could craft and sell. By the time I played, most of the material had been mined near the shops, so it was more difficult to collect. I imagine this will get worse and worse over time, but probably isn't the end of the world for something the scale of an LD game.

I got a score of 2497! It was a little bit higher than that before I built a ton of ladder to make a floating LD48.

Well done for a Compo entry! Had a blast.

Needless to say, we all had a blast with this one. I'm glad we could get so many people playing at once! The character customizer was a really nice touch, and I love how players were able to create some pretty neat secret areas with the mechanics. This is some seriously impressive work!

Wonderful job! Hopped on with the Coleslawski stream crew and had a great time jumpin around. With the leaderboard system it would've been neat to have some more types of ores or valuables the deeper you go to incentivize that, but you got a networked multiplayer game made in a weekend so that's pretty impressive!

It was cool how many features that were there like the character customization, giving names and the online multiplayer all very impressive in 48 hours! But.... I didn't really enjoy the gameplay, maybe it's because I was by myself but it felt quite boring and without any real goal. I did have fun customizing my character though! The music also gave it a nice chill vibe, which really fits this type of laid back game. Overall very impressive but it's lacking a bit of gameplay mechanics to make it really engaging.

Oh boy, you'd think I would avoid going straight down since it's one of the many rules of Minecraft, but I jumped down a bottomless hole someone made regardless.... at least I became the new leaderboard champion before being forced to close the tab. Might want to make an unbreakable Bedrock-style material at the bottom instead of a void of nothingness, someone dug right into the void and the trap got me too.

Anyways, this was really fun! I didn't really make anything fun like the person who wrote "HI" and "42", but I did made a staircase to get you back up from right above the bottomless pit, I closed up the bottomless pit, and I started making a ladder system so you don't have to take the staircase that took me about 5 minutes to make, the world got so deep. Might head on back there and make more ladder systems, whoever dug straight down the the bottom of the world didn't make any way to get back up (resulting in me spending 5 minutes making a staircase back up to the giant ladder someone built).

Oh yeah and I made a terrible-looking arrow too. There's a ladder pretty far away from spawn point so I indicated how to get back.
