- The jumps are too "floaty", when I reach the top of the jump, I kind of have to wait to "float" done.
- A lot of the jumps are blind jumps, I can't see where I need to jump to.
- The exit of each level looks like a fire pit. At first I tried to jump over it.
- When I miss a jump, I'm falling with no way to get back except by launching the game again.
- A pick axe that shoots rocks ?
- If I'm to close to an obstacle, I shoot through it.
- In the level where you need to flee the boss, if I wait to see what's happening (since the first time I don't know I have to flee), I can't beat the level as the boss is quicker than me.
- In the credit menu, don't make stuff bouncing, it's hard to read.
- The graphics and story are bad. But with work and practice, you can improve.
I believe that in the credits their are several names (I may be wrong). If that's the case, the game should be in the JAM category, not the COMPO.
That said, if you really want to write some story, you'll need to start somewhere (like you did here), and it's like everything else, you'll need practice and peoples feedback (not friends and family as this will be most likely biased).
ting pickaxe
The music was kinda noisy. You don't restart when falling of to the left at the beginning.
Cool that you added a story sequence at the beginning and two bossfights at the end, although both were bretty easy. I killed the second boss accidentally I think - it happened so fast, because I just spammed the pickaxe.
There is a lot of room for improvement in your game. Some levels do not restart after falling down. Sometimes you can't see where to jump and have to blindly guess. Projectiles spawn too far from the player and can go through the object when standing near them. Some projectiles disappear when shooting too fast. Music seems to be broken. Finish of each level looked to me like a fire at first and I tried to avoid it. :D
Overall, funny game. Hope you had fun doing it! :D
About the controls, jumping felt very floaty but I still could beat the game. Something that felt a bit unfair, though, is that I wasn't able to see where the platform I was supposed to land was.
And audio was broken for me (so I didn't rate this category), but I don't know if it's a Unity issue with web audio or something else.
Overall, a good entry and congrats for finishing the Ludum Dare in compo mode, it's always super hard :)
A couple of times I couldn't see the next platform and had to jump into space and hope.
Ending was abrupt. Not sure if I killed the end boss or not.
- Level design: I think you could go for levels where you have to explore a little bit more. As it is now, you just have to go to the right which is not very interesting.
- Audio: Try to have one sound for every action in the game (shooting, jumping, dying, etc.)
- Art: Start by having the character face the direction you are moving, and then add some kind of walking animation.
- Gameplay: The pickaxe skill was cool, you could maybe expand it so you can mine in every direction.
Hope this helped, keep up the good work!
