Escape From Mars by ontherun

[raw]
made by ontherun for LD36 (JAM)
On an expedition to the pyramids on Mars you triggered some ancient defense mechanisms and now have to make it out alive with your spaceship.

I know it's kinda lame but I only started a few hours before the deadline and yeah...

The game is made with LÖVE (https://love2d.org) so you'd need this to run. On Debian/Ubuntu you can install it with 'sudo apt-get install love', then run it with 'love ld36_efm.love'.

I packaged Windows and Mac standalone versions according to the manual but cannot test them :(

Controls:
Escape quits the game
Space starts the game
Up, w, i = move up
Down, s, k = move down
x = try again

So far the game play you have established is a good start. One suggestion is having the rockets fire more often when the player gets farther in the game, it would make the game more challenging and refreshing. I can see this being a good game for a mobile device. Good Work!

This has a great gameplay. I think it has a good foundation to create a mobile device videogame. Good work!

This is great, especially for a game made in a few hours. If you just made the gaps get gradually smaller, it would be a lot more fun because of the added challenge. I like the idea of having lasers come at you from behind. I also like that even though you have an ancient technology connection in your story, it's funny how it seems like the game's theme is the opposite, like a futuristic space ship chase. I think it would be fun if more games purposely did the opposite of the theme.
