COSMOSIS [unfinished] by anchorlight

[raw]
made by anchorlight for Ludum Dare 52 (UNFINISH)

Note: This game was created exclusively using AI-generated textures for experiment's sake. While the game still features original models, shaders, and particle effects, the Graphics rating will be disabled for this entry.

At the moment the current version is not finished due to a lack of time. This game may see continued updates as an Extras entry, but for now remains unfinished. While core systems exist and original art assets have been created, not much has been implemented in a usable form.

COSMOSIS is a resource farming game made in FAR less than 72 hours. In this game, you will be tasked with establishing a small resource farm out in an alien wilderness, building up enough energy and resources to scrap together a voyage home.

At your disposal is a small selection of automated factory prefabs designed to efficiently and automatically put the world's resources to use. Establish your perimeter and be sure to maintain them so that the planet's harsh conditions do not wear them down.

Had it been finished on time, the game would allow the player to:

  • Spawn and interact with facilities that will change in function and efficiency depending on the terrain tile-type they are placed on
  • Manually set a calendar for harvesting, with either bulk yields that provide greater bonuses or more frequent yields that will bring resources to the player as fast as possible without the efficiency bonus
  • Upgrade your gear, including a jetpack and telekinesis grapple
  • Spawn larger numbers of robot helpers to manage your facilities
  • Build up a passive harvesting income from your facilities to afford better gear so that you can fly upwards for greater distances
  • Pull down asteroids for large high-value resource yields and to perform end-game upgrades
  • Construct the final upgrade and perform a high-yield harvest to power your journey home and win the game

COSMOSIS may be finished in the future.

Hey, you planning on uploading what you've managed to get done at any point? Would love to give it a go. The title theme sounds really great.

@drunkardwolf I think the plan going forward is to give it a little more love first. I made a judgement call this afternoon and decided that with only greyboxes and no real implementation on mechanics yet the game wasn't worth publishing. I'm hoping that by the end of this week I'll get a chance to refine what I have into a workable prototype.

Thanks a bunch for taking a look! Unfortunately this weekend was a bit too crowded for me to really participate as much as I would have liked.
