Hope I can try it a bit later
The one thing I didn't see in it is just the theme. I don't know how well a tower defense about tanks and processing oil goes with the theme of summoning.
Overall very nice, and a great job by the team!
Could be even more strategic and interesting if you could place turrets/towers anywhere and if the enemy armor had weak and strong points, so you would have to position yourself carefully to do the most amount of damage.
Overall, nicely done, but it could have been longer - I didn't want it to end!
For the theming I see you also very very loosely adhered to the theme :)
The blue tank is incredibly cute!
Was this actually done as part of the jam?
amazing!
Some notes on mechanics:
The timer to the next wave doesn't seem to be doing anything for the gameplay, I felt time pressure only once in the beginning when I was reading what the upgrades did, and the rest of the time I was simply spawn camping the enemy wave and waiting for the timer to run out.
Holding down a button to go faster did not really make sense to me since I never let go of the button, there is no reason, at least that I can see, to go slow.
the oil feels a bit one dimensional, as in it can only do two things, upgrade turrets, or invest in more oil. Other things it could be used for from the top of my head would be, to repair the tank, or to spend on drawing more upgrades for it. Just to allow the player to decide on how they will play the next wave, will you spend more on turrets an then hide behind them, or do you heal and go tank, like the chubby little tank that you are :)
Being able to jump of the cliffs, is a really great mechanical addition with a ton of potential. I allow you to tackle verticality in a way the enemies cannot, and has the potential for some very interesting level design to be built around it. Due to the floaty gravity and lack of response when landing I feel this was not planned for, but is definitely an awesome addition.
Very nice entry, again that tank is so Good!
EDIT:
I just noticed that by holding A you can speed up the timer. So I no longer have any notes on the timer mechanic. :) I also found out tankz can fly when you stand on a building, which is awesome!
Couldn't beat the game, no idea how one is supposed to win the 6th wave, its too hard x.x
Overall well done Game, good job!
Not sure why the building location is restricted, I feel like it would be better if I could place turrets wherever I want. Also had some issues with the ui not always showing up when it should, so I couldn't build or upgrade.
- SFX felt great
- It took me a moment to figure out the controls for shooting - sometimes it just didnt shoot
- Maybe add the ability to buy upgrades while enemies are coming? I missed my chance the first time trying to figure out the controls. Then again, the time pressure is nice.
I wish later waves were a little more balanced in terms of difficulty.
The first couple of waves have enemies coming from single direction then suddenly the game jump
to great number of enemies coming multiple directions.
Still, great entry!
Thank you so much for everyone leaving comments and feedback - we're reading all of it and will keep improving the game based on your feedback!
"Build a turret" prompt goes away away when you move close to another turret and never comes back.
The game was very fun to interact with in terms of juiciness and polish, but a bit too easy in terms of balance - I understand it's probably meant to be casual, but I wish there were different difficulties. It's a very, very solid entry overall, I'm looking forward to what it can become!
