Love the artstyle and puzzles! Do you plan on making any games like this in the future? And did you use any light tools for that effect or was it just drawing by hand?

@ysk Thank you! It's my first time making a puzzle game even though I love the genre. I'll probably try making something more substantial in the same style in the future. The art is mostly made through a compositing palette effect I set up in Blender. UI elements and some touchups has been made by hand though :)

Hey! The first thing that strike me is a colour palette, that looks very cozy and mysterious at the same time.
Also good work with sounds, it's almost like you can touch those items.
I like a lot the simplicity of this puzzle (not gonna lie i was sitting 10 minutes on the moment with a book):'D

Graphics are top tier, what engine did you use for this? :dove:

@sobigdrasil Hey, thanks! The book was a block for most people who tried it. I made the interactable areas much more noticeable than they where before, but maybe it wasn't enough ^^

@pupirka Thank you! I've added a link to a walkthrough if you find yourself stuck. (You can reveal only as much info you need)

@bonemane Thanks! I wrote it without any "engine" (I'd say the browser is as of an engine as many other things). It's pure JavaScript without any frameworks. Graphics are made in Blender with a post compositing setup I built and then some manual touchup.

@justuspan There is a walkthrough linked that you can take a look at. It unlocks if you just wait a couple of seconds after satisfying the beast :)

This is a fantastic game! I love the art style and the mood. It's creepy and mysterious, but somehow very cute at the same time. It feels like it would fit perfectly for a game boy advance.

I really like the puzzles and the style of interaction, the game expects you think and examine things closely. And it keeps surprising you.

Awesome work! <3

That's a great submission ! I love the artstyle, simple yet effective puzzles. Sound ambience is cool too. Congrats.
It's also very interesting to put yourself in the position of a cultist and wonder : to what extreme can I subject myself for devotion / for my belief etc.

Amazing! The art is gorgeous, and the minimal soundtrack and sound effects do a great job of setting the mood. I had to check the walkthrough for hints a couple of times, but I finally got the hang of it and reached the end. Simple and effective, great job!

Looks incredible! I don't really get the music. It feels a bit too chill for whats going on.

I love the game, and the cult-y vibe.

I had to use the walk-through to open the book, since I didn't understand I could click on the screen, to make stuff do something. I think the game teaches me that I couldn't do that, by f.ex. not having me click on the candles to light them with the matches. In the beginning it seems like thing only happens when I use items, so I didn't think to click the book hinges.

Great game, perfectly sized for a jam

@vidarn Thank you <3
@mremmele @ilinx @robowarrior1982 @ghettobastler Thank you very much and thanks for playing!
@ooboob Thanks for trying it out! Yea, the music was maybe the thing I was most disappointed with. Might have worked better with only wind ambience. The fact that you came to the book tells me that you actually interacted with the note in the center before that. That was the point of the note, to mainly teach the player that you can click stuff in front of you. But alas, I should have pointed that out in a tutorial-pompt as well :)

The color palette is just beautiful and it fits the dark theme so well. Music is also very on point! I must say though that the gameplay is rather simple, I wasn't sure I understood everything, maybe some subtitles would help understanding what's going on. But other than that, very pretty game :)

Incredible art and aesthetics! The audio creates a perfect atmosphere. Despite being so simple, there was a lot of me just clicking around randomly, not exactly knowing what was interactable or not sometimes. The maze puzzle 1, 2, 3, 4 was the only one I felt like I could use context clues to discover! That was cool I wish there was more like that! The art really kept me engaged to keep playing this point-and-click puzzle game. I wanted to see all the beautiful item graphics!! Amazing work!

Such a strong entry. The first game that I've played that _really_ made the theme a core part of its identiy.

The walkthrough was helpful. I was so stuck after the knife because I didn't realize I could click on the stuff on the table. Once I understood that, the rest of the game was just the right level of difficulty.

The length was perfect, too. It had enough content to feel like there was something to discover, but it didn't overstay its welcome.

And great color palette choice!

It looks awesome! Also a very moody game, and the audio fits the game so well... Maybe because I'm tired after finishing my game, but I'd appreciate it if active things could have a hover effect. I feel like I was clicking randomly on stuff to move on. But as I said, maybe I'm just tired and the walkthrough you provided helped a lot, thanks for that!

damn, never thought I'd give a high rating to a point'n'click game but this was really well put together, I really like games that have immersive atmosphere and good story telling, and this games is quite immersive! the art style is really good, you did a great job conveying many things with such a limited palette, music is also fitting. overall this goes to show how a game with simple mechanics can also be fun if done right. great job!

Wow what an amazing submission!

This game felt incredibly well thought out, from the choice of art style to the sound design.
Each step towards increasing devotion made sense and while some took a fair bit of time to figure out, eventually reaching that Ah Hah! moment felt very satisfying!

Great work!

The art is gosh-danged *gorgeous!* And I'll push back against what some other people are saying, the music is *incredible.* The dissonance makes it better, not worse, and I *will* die on that hill.

Minor nitpick: it says "ulocked", not "u**n**locked".

I'm genuinely a little sad that I decided to look for a hint instead of trying to figure out the book myself.

(It seems like other people get caught up at the same place, too; maybe the candles could have been placed one-by-one, to suggest fine interaction and solve two birds with one stone? But I almost feel unworthy of suggesting any part be changed!)

This game deserves to win.

If clickable items highlighted when hovered over, it would make things a lot more intuitive. The puzzles were creative though, and once I figured out the specifics of interacting with each one, they were very clever!

Damn, this is really well polished for a game jam game! you really went all in on the vibes and aesthetics for this, and it takes a lot of confidence and skill to be able to pull that off! which I totally think you did! I also really appreciated the walkthrough, I did have to use it because it wasn't entirely clear which parts were interactable? I guess maybe adding something where hovering over interatable objects would light them up or play some kinda SFX? but really, over all great sound and visual design, great subtle storytelling, and great game!!!

Love the art and mood of everything. I think I may have gotten softlocked with the hand trapped under the book. If I'm not softlocked then interaction is unclear. It was unclear before this too but that doesn't matter if the game is figuring out how to interact with it. The problem is when I got a walkthrough up and I still can't solve it. Overall great entry and excellent tone.

Your game's level of completion is just so high and it feels so mature—it's utterly mind-blowing. I’ve checked it over and over to make sure it's not a jam project but a compo entry because, honestly, you hardly ever see games at this level from a jam. You're incredibly talented, and I'm really eager to learn a whole lot from you.![407D594CA86C8424084450D62EDA845F.jpg](///raw/367/d5/z/638a8.jpg)

Superb artwork. It feels very consistent package and nothing sticks out - very rare sight in game jams!

The puzzle solving has similar vibes as old classics like Monkey Island. It gets a bit brute-force'y at times but what I liked about this entry was that there was never too many options available for the player to discover. When the options are so limited, it makes solving the puzzle a lot easier - almost like there was no puzzle at all. I have often called this "restricting the puzzle space".

Overall, well done!

Glad I got through without help, it was super enthralling! The visuals are *the* thing here, the rest just perfectly ties it up together. I'd buy an adventure game with these vibes, even if it was "just" clicking around (and sometimes using a tiny bit of brute force)

I love how music, sounds and art blend together to create an atmosphere! I think it would feel more responsive if the objects you could click where highlighted (or the mouse pointer was changed when hovering over them), but I also understand how the decision not to do it makes the game less obvious and much more mysterious.

Enjoyed this one a lot for how simple it is, storytelling and mood are perfect and it's one of the things I value the most in games, one fo the things I see that people struggle with is how to open the book but it's an easy fix

Hope you get to do more in the future since I can see this on steam and being popular if it was longer!

really atmospheric! I had to use the walkthrough a couple of times, mostly because I didn't realize you could interact with certain parts of the screen.

I loved the color palette. Very good taste! It gave a very special mood!
It was a simple puzzle, but I liked it. I got lost for a few moments, but I managed to finish.

Congratulations

Very cool little game with fantastic art. Nice atmosphere, I would love to see the concept fleshed out more into a point and click adventure style.

The game process is fluent for me, except the dots on the note mean "click" order (I thought it was something like drawing a line begins with a dot and ends in another and stuck there).

Above all this is a well polished work with legendary art and best atmosphere I've ever seen!

The atmosphere you've managed to create for your game is excellent. Sizing a puzzle is complex, and I found myself mostly clicking around in hopes of finding the solution. The map with the points to indicate the sequence is what resembles a puzzle the most for me, and it's excellently positioned and introduced for the gameplay. This game is a little gem, especially for having been made in 2 days by a single person, so congratulations, it's excellent!

I really liked the mood in this game. It had the perfect length and difficulty for this type of experience! Simultaneously made me feel like I was calmly trying to summon something and doing weird and gross stuff to make it happen while being unfazed about it. Really well executed!

Sick vibe and an intriguing point and click "adventure". Reminds me of Inscryption with the music and tone of the whole thing. Love it, great stuff.

Eerie and atmospheric. The music does it for me personally. Despite being a short game, it's still fulfilling and gives you a sense of accomplishment. And to those who're struggling to find their way through the game, you just need to show a little **_devotion_**

Great choice of color palette. The mood is through the roof! I really liked experimenting with all the items, and I felt the experimentation was very intuitive and fun. I'm glad I wasn't handheld through it, it added to the mystery and fun. The puzzles were challenging enough to keep me engaged without being frustrating. The art and animations are so dang good. The music is very fitting. Overall, just a fantastic jam entry, you should be proud. Thank you for making this!

Liked the pixel art and the free-form nature of the little puzzles, though maybe they were a bit easy? I thought the interaction worked okay - my biggest stumbling block was on maybe the 5th puzzle involving some triangles I didn't realize were interactive. (I think I should've realized I needed to explore more from the third puzzle.)

Overall, a joyful, joyful time! The simple palette you choose for your graphics are just on point! The simple music creates a eerie yet mysterious atmosphere to discover what is that bigger thing you're devoting yourself to to. And in general, just loved how the story unravels to show everything the player needs to know. Really great game!

Fun game, I love the limited color palette and the puzzles. The audio was getting a bit annoying, so I'm glad that there was a toggle for that. Really amazing mood and graphics, I had to consult the walkthrough a bit because it was unclear sometimes on what was clickable or not, and it changes throughout the game! Would love to have some indicator of that, but other than that it's a fantastic game!

Mysterious, unsettling, and a bit crazy, what else would one want from a game about a summoning ritual? The art direction is great. The only think I would wish for is more complex puzzles, as many of the puzzles boiled down to clicking the only possible thing that there was to click. Great experience regardless.

Wow, loved the mood, audio and graphics! I got stuck right before unlocking the last item I believe, after trying to click on the thing in the crack from various angles and failing, I'm curious how it ends though!
