A$AP Boxy by maxflav

[raw]
made by maxflav for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

A$AP Boxy is a puzzle game where you strategically redirect boxes to be delivered to the correct houses. Take advantage of the unique shape of each box so that they'll automatically go the right way. Each level has many solutions, so it's up to you how convoluted or efficient you want to be.

This game has a hip-hop theme for some reason. That just kind of happened, don't worry about it.

There is an in-game tutorial that will explain how to play.

I had to break my brains a little, but then I realized what was what. I liked the idea!)

This is a really clever idea! I had to think pretty hard on some of the levels and I think there's a lot of room for twists or expansions on the mechanic though I think you did a good job at making it stand on its own. I think you have something interesting here!

Very interesting concept, haven't seen that anywhere before. Would be very cool to see it expanded upon in a more ambitious game!

This is the first game I rate for this ludum dare, and as soon as I saw the classic puzzle script style I decided it should be it ahah

So, I like the aesthetic of the puzzle script games but I think this time u could have done something a bit better, maybe by choosing better colors. I see you have out out of graphics tho

The idea works and it could be a fun puzzle but I think it escalates too quickly, at level 3 I got stuck, it's maybe a bit too early.
Seems I'm a bit used to puzzle games I sort of understood what the game wanted me to do but I had done so little experience with the mechanics that I didn't have the tools yet to solve the level, it felt like going directly to level 15.

I couldn't go past level 5, also because I got a bit frustrated by this. Having to see every time everything plays out is also a bit boring and annoying (thanks to the sounds too)

Overall it's a complete package and it works, I think that by just adding more easy levels add the beginning could be very helpful!

I beat the game! The puzzle concept is great. It's definitely one of my favorite puzzle concepts I've seen in a Ludum Dare. The escalation in difficulty was perfect and the levels themselves were nice. I think that the only area that's lacking a bit is the execution in terms of graphics and audio. The game itself is quite fun.

Great work!

oh wow! this is a delightful little concept. i finally beat it, took me quite a bit of time to get through all 5 levels, but i'm glad i did. you've made a really nice little brainteaser! i think i echo some of the other concerns about having to wait to see your actions, but it does have the effect of making you really think through your solutions. level 3 was the toughest for me, but once i got the habit of figuring out how to "distinguish" between boxes, the rest of the game was very enjoyable. really enjoyed this entry!

I love this, and props for giving a proper tutorial, but the difficulty curve is crazy. I was going insane on level 4 (level 5 felt much easier honestly). Admittedly I tend to be bad at puzzle games though, and at least I was able to figure it out after wracking my brains for a bit.

Nice concept and congrats on the level design! The tutorial is very efficient and the sfx are great, they go with the oldschool visuals perfectly.

The level 4 is where its starting to get really fun :D You definitely nailed the theme and 10/5 for innovation, I was not expecting this kind of puzzle at all. Great work!!! <3

Really cool puzzle game. congratz on the level design, the levels are quite well made for just 48h.
As other, the level 4 is when things are getting real  took me some time to figured it out.

Well done, your game is my favorite puzzle game of the LD so far

It's a simple game, but very effective. I liked all the aspects, well thought-out puzzles, and I especially like the fact that there's a level selection menu. Good job :D

I love this game! The final solutions are so elegantly simple, but to figure them out takes a lot of thought.

The tutorials are straightforward and easy to follow, making it simple to understand the mechanics. I had a lot of fun playing through the puzzles, which were well-designed and thought-provoking. While the art is simple, it effectively conveys everything you need to know. The addition of some background music could add more life to the atmosphere, but overall, it's a great game. Congratulations on the excellent work! (⌒▽⌒)☆
