"They're closing in! No! Stay back!!"

You wake up with a rush from a nightmare on Monday morning. In the dream, you were running from some kind of wide-eyed, blathering infinity, but you were trapped in its incessant whirlpool gaze...

Oh, well.
Shaking off the vibe, you depart for the big day you've got planned. Travel, family, the works. Everything is going to be normal. No one is going to act weird, or be weird, or anything.

Or so you thought, until a random person struck up an unnecessary, uncomfortable, inescapable conversation.
And then another. And another.

When everyone keeps invading your personal space? That's Introvertigo.

FAQ

  • *Is this game scripted? *
    • About a third is scripted, but the moment-to-moment responses are all prompted instead, and will change with every playthrough.
  • * Doesn't it cost money to have prompted text?*
    • Yes. But we love u so happy birthday :)
  • Can't I just manipulate the AI to do what I want?
    • Of course, but that's against the spirit of the game! You're free to play however you like, but the fun comes from treating it like a real social interaction.
  • What's the best strategy?
    • Just like real life, it's up to you to find responses that are oblique enough that they'll back off, but still not flat-out rude. Different folks have different interests, so you might have to play a few times to uncover what pushes a certain character's buttons!
  • * Why is that character flashing red? *
    • They thought something you said was rude! Be careful not to do it again :O
  • * Wait, how am *I the rude one? They're rude for even coming at me!**
    • Ain't that the truth. Some people seem to be playing by a different rulebook than the rest of us.

Wow this is outrageously cool. The gorgeous art, funky palette, intense mood, and comic tone of it all combined to make a truly memorable experience. Also, great call with adding the required words to guide players and give a jumping off point. 5/5

I am to polite to play this game...I keep talking and then run away. This game is like Carl's tea party on steroids. (That is one of our other games that deals with anxiety.) I love it. The art is wonderful, and this is my problem in real life, I just stay home because I don't want to have to be rude to people if they are creepy.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't go outside. (realizes it is his older brother's birthday today. Oh no!)

Anyway, thanks for the share. Have a good day.

Very fun spin on the theme, Toilet guy is hounting me in my dreams till this day...

Loved the art alot. Promting done very smooth, and the emotional shift on the characters when they are getting closer is very cool. Amazing entry, good job getting it done and polished in such short time!

Bathroom stall guy needs to be put in prison and Grandpa is bae. I needn't say anymore...

But I will anyways.

The art style is top notch. I love the pastel watercolor vibe. The concept itself is also really clever, using AI as the game mechanic. Music was both calm and relaxing but also a bit unsettling. It has a Megami Tensei vibe to it which I really dig.

Overall great job you guys!

No really.. Bathroom stall guy doesn't belong in society.

Your team never fails to impress! another great and relatable entry and the first dude was soooo creepy omg. I'd love to try the stages I failed again, sometimes it's hard to tell what I'm doing right but that's like real life. I love the art and the audio and the vibes, and I never thought you could incorporate AI like this. I think this is a super innovative take on the theme. Thanks for making it even when it costs money <3

A really really really good game. I love the take on the theme, the graphics, the character's answers. It all fits really nicely. It was nice to try goofing around and test the limits of the solutions... For some reason it's rude to tell someone at the gym that you like using certain parts of people that talk to you at the gym to make milkshakes.
I had lots of fun, thanks.

Loved it! The requirement to use particular words helped provide some good ideas and a challenge, but sometimes I didn't want to use any of them! Amazing concept and use of LLM AI, great characterisation through the awesome art style, and a very memorable experience! Beyond the generative chat side of things, I'm really curious how the criteria for ending the chat work, as well as the grading system 👀

Woa! I was not expecting something like this.

I love the mixture of scripting and AI, I kept second guessing myself as to whether this was AI or just a really clever text engine. It all felt very natural yet magical.

The art is lovely and the music does a good job fitting in with the mood and enhancing things without standing out too much.

hard to gauge difficulty given its construction, but I shoo'd away everyone pretty fast but the lifter. The only thing I really can say here is that I wish there was an incentive to interact with these characters more. When the winning move is to get away from them, you don't really ever get a chance to enjoy their personalities.

Overall this is a really heckin cool entry. Nice work!

Goodness gracious, I don't even know where to start. The art looks freaking insane, I don't understand who on the planet has the power to put together such a beautiful collection of game art in three days -- seriously it looks better than some commerical games I've sunk my teeth into, amazing job, whoever's to thank for it (). I know a lot of the content is generated while playing, but it replicates the feeling I get exactly while talking with people, hahahah. Sound design, along with the intensity the closer people get to you (heartbeat and such) is so perfectly put together. Finding ways out of conversations that I've sparked proved difficult, as I come off too friendly for my own good -- only escaped three of the five of them, hopefully that's not terrible. xD

Seriously, this might be my favorite of the jam, it's proven to be my favorite of the 9 I've played. Amazing job, all of you, I look forward to see what you put together next time! :beers:

Oh my god that was amazing. By far my favorite Jam entry. Okay- let's talk about it...

The artwork is incredible. I really loved how in the grandma scene, the FOV changes and the camera zooms in adding to the tension. The characters are super expressive, and I loved how cartoonishly dramatic they become under certain situations.

I recorded myself playing to provide extra feedback! Cheers.

Most excellent. Y'all should be very proud, this game is hilarious, relatable, and extremely polished all around. Some feedback to help understand what brings people closer or farther would have been nice (eg too interesting, friendly, etc), but it was still great fun trying weird and random stuff out to see how it plays. I hope to see more prompt based games in the future and I hope they make me feel like this game did

What a game. This is absolutely insane. This kind of game can literally become a full one-of-a-kind genre of interaction. Extremely innovative, really well polished, really funny. My only negative criticism is that I can't do a specific person over again without doing the whole playthrough again. It's not a big deal especially since the game is so well done.

Very cool idea and I love the graphics.

Taking it at face value it's pretty fun and unique, but design wise it is a bit unclear how you are expected to win and what will work and what won't. Some of the prompt words were pretty hard to work with too but I don't think either of these complaints are a big deal.

It seems like parsing your response is also partially through AI prompting so I guess that explains why the responses can seem so random, and admittedly you can't expect it to understand everything so I think it's important to acknowledge those limitations when I'm making these criticisms but yeah.

Really really cool.

Oh yeah and the art is incredible, it sells the situational comedy so well and really helps elevate the surreal conversations the AI loves to spit out into some really funny moments.

Amazing work.

Oh my god what an excellent game. Everything is just about perfect. The mood and atmosphere is so tense. It's a true psychological horror game. You manage to get me fully immersed in the scenario. The art is beautiful. The sound effects are brilliant. Dialogues are very good. Actually surprising how much the npc replies very often fit into the conversation rather smoothly, so smart work there. This is the most immersive game I've played so far. Amazing work for a game jam!

This was a creative idea, and an original experience. I think it suffered a little from a word being tied to meaning, as sometimes I felt I wrote something that was misinterpreted and lead to them getting closer. But it does represent sometimes how people don't get hints by the line of conversation you give! I really enjoyed the driving level with its music from your last LD game :D really nice feel, mood, visuals <3

I really loved this, every little detail pushed how uncomfortable and oppressive atmosphere is when you're trapped in a conversation with a stranger. I loved the unusual skin tones and how the screen felt like it was closing in on you, the only think I could even think to improve on this would be slightly more intense music the closer they got to you but I genuinely really loved this! Such a unique and well-executed experience! This is probably the first time I've seen an AI chatbot used effectively in a game without it being used as just a half-baked shortcut to have "infinite content."

The concept alone is upsettingly relatable and so perfectly captured in both the art and the audio. Well done all around!

That's definitely one of my favorite game of this jam!

The mood is a 6/5, with incredibly nice graphics, animations and polish for a jam game. The sound design ties everything together quite well, and the dialogue system just works and makes you feel like you've already been in those situations.

I have strong negative feelings about AI in general due to ethical and ecological concerns, but this game makes such nice use of it that it almost made me forget that while I was playing!

Great job and thanks for the game, I'm sharing it with my friends ✨

Incredible as always! The art and the music and the whole vibe just worked well together. Well done! The fact that you give the user free form input, with only a few constraints to keep it on track, is wild! I love how alive the system feels, even if it might be pretty simple. (Edit: I read now about the language model running on a server .. that's awesome!!)

I had a heck of a time, and I don't think I did too poorly! Speed run?
