THIS GAME DOES NOT RUN IN HTML 5. I accidentally uploaded the zip and it would not let me remove it. If you want to play it, please download TheAriadaeusRun_v0.7a.zip

Update: It seems to have let me remove the non-functional HTML5 version.

The core gameplay of dodging obstacles and lasers is quite fun. But having to synchronize your boosts the laser forces the player to play with a fairly predetermined pace.

Classic gameplay and solid core, also quite a challenge, nice entry!

So retro, and so hard! Love the idea of a satellite laser shooting at you every 10 seconds. The music was great and fit the mood so well. I loved that the old attempts left their carnage to wave at as I pass by. The only think I can think of would be to make the difficulty curve start off a little slower to give me a chance to get good. Great job!

Yeah, the difficulty curve absolutely needs work. Glad you liked the music. I was worried the guitar might have been a bit much.

Beat the game, it was really fun! I found the boost pretty difficult to use though, so I did a low boost percentage win. That last jump took me like 5 tries to finally get

Whew, hard! Cool game though. Could probably use some health powerups rather than instant deaths :) . Definite old nintendo vibes from this. Spy Chase? I can't remember the name. Well done!

Yeah, Spy Hunter was definitely one of the inspirations for this. And yeah, If I were to remake the game it'd probably swap it to a stage-based format, with checkpoints every stage and infinite continues. rather than just one long run.

Had a fun time but the laser is impossible to dodge without a boost unless I'm missing something. Really enjoyed the sprite work though

Something I really liked was the risk versus reward that came from driving closer to the top of the screen. The higher speed and score multiplier was a nice treat for being closer to the danger of rocks.

Nice retro vibes! A little hard to avoid laser but fun once you get it!

Nice and simple arcady game! Dodging the lasers is definitely the best part. It's challenging but once you get the timing down its satisfying. Not to mention you still have to keep your eyes on the road so that you don't hit a rock when you boost.

Nice retro style game. Hard though, I only got to 419m.
I like that you can see your previous wreck when you die.
The laser seemed not much of a threat, other than obscuring the screen.

Fun gameplay, the art and soundtrack feel really polished although simple. Like other people mentioned, the difficulty curve is pretty high. Maybe increasing the field of view and making the rock placement less random could help. Nice work!

I like the pixel art here and the retro sounds and music, but this game is really difficult! I played with an XBox 360 controller and I kept trying to press A to jump (sending me boosting into the nearest rock)

Nice to see a fellow Game Maker game here :D

This is one of the games that nails the "very simple gameplay loop that has incredible addiction potential". Driving is just fun, learning when and how to use the mechanics is nice and I can see a lot of potential with more hazards or a time trial mode with a fixed map. Presentation was simple but easy enough to understand everything while playing and the music and sound effects slap. Fantastic entry.
