Fabric - Reality Fabricators by LDJam user 410492

[raw]
made by LDJam user 410492 for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

You've impersonated an agent at the biggest social media psyop manufacturer in the world. Can you stay undercover and find your co-conspirator in your mission to expose them? Gather intel and sharpen your detective skills to infiltrate Fabric - the "Reality Fabricators". The clues are randomized each run, so your mission will always be a little different!

Made in my own custom engine! Download on itch below! (or if you're not comfortable running a random exe, here's a youtube playthrough so you can get the gist even though I got lucky and skipped a couple steps: https://youtu.be/c8PnCmeCL6k

(fyi the default graphics settings are a little intense, so if you have bad framerate, hit escape/start go to "Options" -> "Graphics Options" and turn down "Shadows" to limit the number of lights that cast shadows, another very effective option is to go to "Options" -> "Display" and turn down the "Render Scale" to decrease the internal resolution)

Solid submission! I recognized your style instantly, after last jam. Went into this one blind, got stuck and restarted once, but eventually figured out what to do. The signposting was a bit hard to follow, it took me entirely too long to figure out the purpose of the game, but I ended up making it there. Something really hits the spot when you read an email worded like the instructional email you wrote. The idea behind learning the ins and outs, and then figuring out who you need to subvert the rules for, is very neat. The game did have some other tougher spots, like the NPCs spam-talking to you when you're trying to access a computer, but other than that, no major hiccups. Good job!

@t-c awesome! Yeah haha they're talking to you because you're on their computer, looks like they need to explicitly complain about it! :P

I got lost a few times, because I missed the first mail on my puter, because I didn't know it'd decrypt in a few seconds. That said, after I watched a bit of the video, I figured it out.
I LOVE the style and artsiness of the game, it's really unique in a really good way!
One of the coolest experiences from this jam so far <33

Wow, incredible work! The fluid controls are just brilliant, especially for a 72-hour jam! We didn't quite have the guts to try 3D ourselves.

Impressive creation, although I couldn't quite figure out what to do. Breaking the suika game was fun though

@arada @boring-wayne1 @head-priestess-ari @shanyu-jin @oradimi @500 thanks so much for the comments and trying the game!! I did start with a basic character controller similar to what I used for the last two Ludum Dare jams, but yeah git shows I wrote +5,449-1,905 lines over 167 files this weekend, that's a lot of work!

@fadex yeah, cross platform and web support is a big goal for the next version of the engine!

Sidenote, I noticed a bug where the last computer didn't display it's emails, added another download to Itch with the fix! Off by one error so easy when tired lol.

Using your own engine is impressive from the start! But maybe start with the volume at 50% XD

I can't imagine doing a game that size and complexity alone in 3 days, this entry blows my mind! It's super charming, got really nice art style and it even got suika in there! Can't wait to see what you do next

I couldn't play because there's no download for Mac. Please export the game to macOS and I'll come back and test your game!

Your game is hilarious... the creature walks like it's dancing, haha, it's really funny to watch. You implemented several mechanics like the dialogue system. The game reminds me of Among Us game... in its little jobs or tasks. Congratulations on your game!

This is such a weird concept, but it works surprisingly well.
I really like how the investigation and dialogue parts come together
