Block or Bust by blobo
You are the manager of the world's last Blockbuster. Your company is sinking, both metaphorically and literally into the ground. You need to help all the customers, or a single bad review will cripple the stock! Likewise, to prevent the building from sinking, you need to go underground, murder dinosaurs, and use their bones as scaffolding for structural support. (as if that needed to be explained)

You might be glad to know that you're not the only one that laughs at your jokes. I had several good bursts of laugh. Top sh*t man, 5* for humor.
The track is killer :man_dancing: but you already know it is. The visuals are nice, though it seemed unpolished here and there, but yeah... compo. Still a job well done.
The transition from the video store to different eras blew my mind a bit. Good stuff!
And I am going to specifically mention and appreciate the fact that the customer keeps the same distance from the counter be it first person or third person view, since people usually don't notice these things, but it's the kind of detail that shows the love and care the artis puts into their work.
And lastly, the only bug I found was the ending/victory screen (I LOLd). W didn't close the game, and then it switched back into the counter view, but that really doesn't matter.
Anyway, great job m8 and all the best to you going forward.
Was there ever a way to change into the propeller beanie or the coveralls, or were they just there to make it harder to change clothes?
Only bug I saw was one bone that went flying off and got stuck in the black void, so it was unreachable.
I am amazed at how much you accomplished in 48 hours! A tour de force!
Great animation. Interactions feel good. Music bops. Impressive scope for 48h.
Managed to beat it in 8:46.07 :)
And no, that is not a good thing. I should be playing and rating other games
As someone who worked in retail for 5 years, I applaud this game.
I didn't expect the plot twist from the video cassette store, the era of dinosaurs to the destruction of the building. Very original! It seems to me that if the interface is slightly improved, it will be a very pleasant game.
10/10 dinosaurs and netflix employees sacrifices!

Very polished game, including the visuals, animations, sound effects and music. The universe that you created is crazy but still feels perfectly consistent.
Nice job as always :)
# 11/10
Also, there are some places where it's able to cross the walls (I found 2)

Also, did I just commit a mass murder of my concurrents just to build my business on top of their bones  :scream:
Very good entry, definitely one of my favorite!! Great job
I was not prepared for the absurdity of this (started playing without paying enough attention to the screenshots), and while I get that it grabs peoples attention more to show the two different parts of the game, I'm glad I missed it because it was a really fun twist. LD for me is one part finding great gems of "regular" gameplay, and one part finding great gems like this with hillarious and strange plot and art. Thank you for sharing!
Great work, and good luck!
The game too feels really fun to play! I didn't encounter any bugs or issues, and THANK YOU for not making the bone requirements too strict based on the number of dinosaurs and the bones they spawn. (Especially in that last stage!) Everything felt very user friendly and it eases you into the gameplay loop very well. If anything, I would have loved to get some more challenge if there were to be any further levels.
Final time was 7:26.25 for my first run, very fun entry and the quality of the writing, gameplay, art, and music is amazing for the 48 hours you had to work with as a team of one. Congrats!

Plus it explains why I remember every blockbuster employee having a hazy, magical look in their eye - they were rushing off to the back room to blast dinosaurs!
Truly a special piece of human culture I am proud to have participated in - really awesome job!
I didn't expect being a blockbuster manager being this fun heh
Great gameplay loop, good pixel art, I liked the soundtrack and effects, just really well polished
Great job!
Well this explains a bit about the old Blockbusters back in the day if everything in game is true!
Where to start... Graphics, Music, Gameplay loop; all fantastic. Obviously humor is subjective, but I like it so thats all that matters to me! The general escalation was great and the details were kinda crazy.
Like there was no reason to have the customers move to the aisle while you're behind the counter. Such an unnecessary detail, but it was there!
So lets stretch some and get some critiques:
1) Music and SFX was kinda unbearably loud, with no way to adjust them. I was playing with friends over stream and we couldn't hear each other, that was unfortunate!
2) The jokes come a mile a minute, but due to the juggling of the situation you miss a lot of good ones. Good writing deserves to be enjoyed!
3) For some reason I kept wanting to follow the bones back to the surface. That obviously doesn't work, but feels so right for some reason. Also at least in 'phase 2' doing so almost get me stuck when I clipped through an apparently no-collision ceiling part.
4) There wasn't any reason I could find to use the extra costume bits, and I was too frantic to just do them for the sake of it.
It was a stretch to come up with those 4, but its all I could come up with. This was a fun time, and hopefully it'll find more people playing it over the weekend.
Easily one of the most creative and imaginative games of the jam. Loved how well balanced the timers were. Nothing felt unfair in that regard. Art was simple enough and kept everything distinct. Sound was great and the music was an absolute bop. Humour was on point throughout the game which is usually very hard to do lol. I have a few qualms though...
The particle effect for when a shot landed seemed like there was a little too much going on, and so sometimes I couldn't really tell if I hit a dinosaur or not.
(SPOILERS)
The level in the third day really needed some semblance of directions or something since it's a bit of an abrupt step up from the last two days. Only saying this because I got lost quite a bit lost and didn't really learn the layout of the level because of time lol.
The bones of the humans might have been a little too small as well since I did miss a few lol, though that might just be me and be a nitpick.
None the less, amazing entry here.
Brilliant entry, well done with this one!
There's so much and it all comes together so well! The level of polish is astonishing and the way you kept this coherent and balanced is really impressive! Solid entry!
Otherwise loved it, so impressive you could get something this big done in such short time. Kinda perfect for this theme.
