Extremely clever virtual pet. Lots of clever dialogue surrounding what actions you take, even outside the game window. Great art and animation, very expressive in the BitBuddy. We went on a journey together. I'll pay the premium price to get Dumbin back. I'll do anything!
Good take on the theme, art, and audio were well done. The mood was unsettling.
A classic Daniel Mullins game!
Well, at least I still can give food and hat to this poor squeleton, and give it a ride on the sea to contain my sorrow…
Very well done, it was fun!
But seriously this is great, I enjoyed having this little buddy around. He was gone too soon!
I can't tell if he's more worried about why I'm doing this or dying. Great work, definitely one of my favorite compos
I must say, though, that guilt tripping players into keeping this game open is genius! And the little character's death is definitely inevitable!
Overall, great work!
10/10, absolutely devastating
Neeber is currently minimized, I don't have the heart to pull the plug yet. He'll probably stay there until the next time my computer misbehaves and I have to restart it. But should I have just done it on holiday? He said he'd be happy with that. Is it better to allow him to stay alive longer, even if nothing else happens? Is a longer, boring life better than a shorter, happy one? Why am I so agonized over this knowing that it's not real? He's not really alive. All that happens when he "dies" is I can no longer interact with him and he looks different. Everything he said was written and programmed by a person. Neeber is a thing. He's not alive, so he can't die. And yet the window is still open.
Update: I just right clicked > closed application. Didn't want to look at him when I did it. Didn't want him to know it was coming. Haven't opened it again and probably won't. Goodnight, Neeber. I'm sorry.

Had a power outage which finally ended my buddy's run, but I like to think I gave it a fulfilling life. I hope I was a good friend :'(
Definitely think you're onto something here, but not sure what the solution would be to making a game like this work for folks who just accidentally close it out for one reason or another before becoming invested in the story or its character(s). The whole "actually exiting the program kills your buddy" idea is great, but wonder if an in-game "click the quit button to kill your buddy" would work better in practice. Super curious about your thought process when making this though!
I felt distain over my own actions.
What have i done ?????? D:

PS: Judging from the comments, I was probably a bit too hasty with quitting (but yeah, can't wait forever on stream...), very interesting to see there's more content to it.
