EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY

An enormous asteroid is on a collision course with the planet. (Actually, 'asteroid' may not be the right term, since it is far, FAR bigger than the planet.) There is no hope to divert or slow it down; our only hope is to evacuate the population. Smaller chunks of the asteroid (each big enough to destroy the planet on its own) will rain down upon us and likely destroy us long before the main asteroid ever arrives.

Your job is to slow or stop the smaller asteroids, delaying our destruction long enough for the population to evacuate before the inevitable collision with the main asteroid. Fortunately, our Ion Cannon can take care of this, but it uses tremendous power, energy that we also need for the evacuation. Launch evacuation ships whenever possible during your defense of the planet.

Notes

  • All downloads are in DropBox. On each download page, the download button is in the upper left corner.

  • I was unable to export to WebGL because of errors that I could not resolve, so unfortunately there will be no WebGL version this time.

Nice game! I cleared the planet with 53k miles remaining!

The numbers tuning felt nice as I was on edge almost the entire time! The game was a little long, but you nailed the the doomed feeling. Really impressed!

Thank for the upload!

I really like the concept of the game. It was really fun trying to balance your energy between destroying all the asteroids and sending people off of Earth. Great job!

I cut it down to the wire, 18k miles left! I felt the game was a bit long for the amount of content it had, and that the end kind of dragged on, but like others I liked the down-to-the-wire balance. Good job!

I unfortunately didn't clear the game since it wasn't until late game that I realized I had 4 ships that can be sent out without being full. It would be nice to make the green bars look more like space ships, but I also understand that this is a compo game and you only had 48 hours. Really great job overall! Thank you for sharing your game on my Twitch stream (MsMiaChar). Here's the link to the video if you're interested in revisiting the real-time feedback (game starts around 00:55:00): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1446760516

I enjoyed this a lot. Especial the last phase where you can fully focus on the evacuation was nail biting.

A really good take on the theme, the game feels simultaneously chill and tense, and it's fun to manage your energy and time efficiently. I feel like if you were more in control of when/how you received crystals that the game would be even more engaging and add another layer of skill. Overall great though!

Nice game. I like the game mechanic of using the same energy for an ion cannon and to lunch escape ships. Nice music too. I save 1 990 000 people, that should be enough :P

This is really good. The only thing I would change is make the pace a little bit faster. I made it all the way to the end, and still had about 2 billion left. I didn't really feel like trying again, just because of how long it would take to get back to that point. That being said, I was surprised by how long new stuff kept happening for. Also, the HUD could use some rearranging to make it a little more clear. It took me a while to figure out what the four bars at the bottom meant.

There's a lot of good stuff. I was surprised by the amount of strategy involved in managing energy. The graphics are good, and the music is perfect.

Also, my cat liked the text sound effect. So good job.

Very nice game! I love the concept, although it felt a bit slow. The UI also needed a bit more explanation; it took me a while to figure out what the bars on the bottom were and how they were supposed to affect the strategy. The music was amazing!
