About the game.-
A short arcade game about a mama bird on a quest to rescue her children.
Made by Ludipe during Ludum Dare 46 in 48 hours with music by Faizyr (audio rating is disabled). For rating purposes you may choose to download "eficompowin64.zip" from itchio. That build features a music loop made by me instead of the one by Faizyr used in the main build. That's the only difference between that build and the others.
Instructions.-
These are all included in game. You control the main character with either the arrow keys or A/D. You can pause the game pressing space. The game will end once you find the 20 birds.
The game should activate fullscreen after the intro, I recommend playing it on fullscreen. You can also activate fullscreen using the icon on the right bottom corner (on the browser version) or pressing F on the desktop version.
Misc.-
This game is harder than the ones I usually make. Took me 4 minutes and 10 deaths to complete the last build before releasing it, then again, I had been practising for two days. Once you get to the end the game will show how many times you have died.

Cool concept!

Amazing cute aesthetic and music, and the style was so polished. Even essentially had a little mini open world!
Cons:
Doesn't fit the theme particularly well (though I partially blame a bad theme that could loosely apply to every game ever made)
Controls felt slightly frustrating at time - it wasn't possible to make micro-adjustments, so if you don't quite get the heading you want you have to press A/D/A/D/A/D to aim roughly in a straight line.
Overall an amazing submission.
I would introduce new content sooner, you need to play for a bit to see anything but brown walls. Especially for a game jam, when people need to play a lot of games and skip rather quickly.
Excellent work! Favourite game so far!
Comments:
- I have some hand pain in my wrists which made playing this game almost impossible and very frustrating. Would appreciate alternative controls or the ability to customizes the turn speed of the bird somehow. I died like 10 times just trying to exit the first room because of this.
- It would be nice if there was a "click to continue" type of thing when you die. I was waiting a while for it to automatically start again and the bird was just flashing. Also the flashing kinda hurts the eyes when going for so long;;;;
- In the html5 version, while minimized, space will scroll your screen down away from the game. Died a few times to this.
- Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the full enjoyment of this (I had to quit after 2 birds due to the tunnel and dying there way too many times) but I think someone who likes frustrating games (ala benny foddy) or games with tight controls would enjoy this!
I'd probably buy and play a full version of this game with more content and some sort of story that ties it all together :)
Overall the graphics and audio complement the experience very well and the mood is there. Very well polished and executed.
Thanks for the game!
Overall I think the difficulty was fun - the rooms where you had to leave the way you came were particularly tricky.
One suggestion I'd have for the controls is having some sort of acceleration. That'd make fine adjustments easier, since you wouldn't start at the full steer speed immediately.

I wonder how it would feel with analog controls...part of the challenge definitely comes from the input method for steering and I'd hate to lose that though, reminds me of trackmania actually, but a lot brighter and more jazzy of course. I'm gonna show this to everyone. Great stuff
Some levels were quite tricky, but it was fun to explore them!
Definitely keep developing this.
Well done
Thank you for making this little beauty, will definitely recommend it to my friends!
Great game overall though! Good job.
Thanks a lot for the game!
Gameplay is quite hard but that's a good point.
Nice polish of a simple mechanic.
On seeing the description I thought: "oh, this one's described as a 'short' game - that's good because I haven't got long"
Some time later...

I liked it!
This was really hard, though it is really addictive! The level design is neat, I love the fact that it's not just a linear level but you also have to explore a little map.
The art was cute!
Check our game, it's also a birbs simulator :P
Difficulty and fun in the right measure.
Get saved here on my pc so I can play more and more!
And what song is that? Very good!
Congratulations for the game!
Great concept, liked the hand drawn / jittery animation effect on the game. I found the jiggly animations on the zig-zag backgrounds that speed you up on the later levels extra difficult, as the animation itself is kinda disorientating.
This could definitely be something to develop after the competition, the simple controls lend themself well to mobile, and being used to 'car' style steering, it made sense the left/right controlling the rotation. Would be interesting to see an expert mode on mobile where to have to tilt the phone to steer haha.
I only managed to collect about 9 before giving up. The simple revamp of snake was very well executed and the new room mechanics added a cool twist.
The music was fantastic.

Also I love the art style and the music. Great job!
Basically a very simple principle but you just can't stop.
"It can't be that hard... damn... so once again... and again...!
Great game keep up the good work. I had a lot of fun. Kudos to the level tester!
