I was thinking it's just a simple rhythm game at level one, and game suddenly challenged me with puzzles at level 2. Really enjoy the game, and the music! It would be better if players could manually restart the level, so that they could instantly retry after they make a mistake.

One of the best game I've played so far on this jam! Very well done, the graphics, the music, the theme, the game mechanics. A solid entry!

@igaryhe we cut the restart function for the theme STUCK IN THE LOOP,if you can always restart,it's not what stucked feels like.hahaha
@los thanks bro~

This is a really fun game! The puzzles were very challenging, and the music was definitely a highlight. What did you use to make the soundtrack?

The art and idea sell this game. I really love this, well done!

Small note, I would probably add a sound effect when moving blocks, just for feedback.

I agree with the comment above, that a restart button would be great. Also the position of the blocks doesn't match the melody at all, but maybe that would be too much to manage during one jam. Great idea! I saw a game with cassettes and had to play it (go check out our game for more cassettes). Also, why is there a pause buttn, if it doesnt do anything :D

I thought it was a rhythm game at level 1. It was a bit too slow and easy. Level 2 was great. And level 3 was too hard. Nice idea restricting the movement of the blocks like that.

First of all, great job all around. The aesthetics of this game are insane, both in the visual and audio department. I understand and really respect the lack of a restart button to adhere to the theme, but I think it hurt the game design a little and I have a suggestion of how to address that:

*Count the success streak from the last time you messed up, not from the start of the song! As if it was a continuous loop without start of finish.*

You would still have to have a success streak of the whole **length** of the tape, but as soon as you mess up, you can start a valid winning streak instead of just practicing for the next loop.

Regardless of that, great job on the game!

Quite surprised to see a nice puzzle design around the common music game mechanic!
Both the game design and art style is well done!
The theme is interpreted as "a loop of time/music clip".

But since the game require all the notes to be done perfectly to pass a level, the rest of a puzzle is meaningless after any mistake. Restart or direct control of the progress bar will make the experience much better.

It is a brilliant idea to combine a rhythm game with puzzles. The vintage art style also looks great.

Great art and music! It's quite creative in playing, but I'm stuck at the beginning of the third level. I don't know how to separate the blocks of 2 squares and 1 squares. If you have a little primary guidance , it may be smoother

The game is awesome! Really love the music and atmosphere.
It makes the game so hard that I have to think quickly and move quickly before the line move to next block, but makes the game much more fun!

First thought was, that this is gonna be a boring game, but as I got to the "real" puzzle in Level 2, I was really hyped. The game is great to play and you can really get stuck in a level for quite some time - which is great, because every iteration you see your process. I know, it is part of the jams theme to loop the levelcircle, but for an after-jam-version, a restart button would be good. And if the player-button-presses could be more on beat, but I know that could be difficult if not impossible to implement. And I don't need to mention, that your game really has aesthetics. Extreme good job, one of the best games I played in this jam :D

The artwork definitely drew me in! Simple game mechanic but unfortunately it seems that due to maybe time or some other constraint you weren't able to fully commit to the mechanic. For how polished the visuals seem the functionality is lacking. First off the game is veeery slow, there's no way to restart quickly if you mess up so you just have to wait for the song to end. Second and biggest issue is that in a music driven game the mechanic should be linked somehow to the music but it isn't. The timing of movements wants to be like guitar hero but I found no link in the gameplay to the notes. This ultimately made the experience pretty frustrating. It needed more attention to the underlying gameplay to keep me engaged. Thirdly, with more time of course, having a greater sense of accomplishment to motivate the player along the way would be nice - this is where the real polish would come in with visual/audio rewards that tell you you're playing well. Overall it is a pretty looking game that is unfortunately missing some crucial functionality to really make this successful, but a good foundation to make an enjoyable experience is here!

I loved the art style. Great puzzle idea and lots of fun to play. I'd really have liked a restart button though, the moment you realise you've messed something up, you just have to sit there waiting for the loop to finish. Music was great, though it does feel a bit incidental, in that it's not really needed for the puzzle. I agree that some rhythmic element would be great. Lovely entry in any case.

Very nice game! As everyone else has said, you really need a restart button. This feels like it has a lot of room for expansion, especially with the more complicated puzzles that show up in the latter levels.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a rhythm game (my movements hardly aligned with the music). I would definitely have liked to be able to loop on my own time, instead of having to listen to the entire loop constantly. I found a decent amount of time was spent not even playing, just listening. Your style is very consistent across all assets, which is also great.

+1 for an instant restart button here. If you have a choice between adhering to the letter of the theme or making your game better, always choose making the game better.

Otherwise, it's good! The puzzle design is interesting, and obviously the aesthetic is really strong (and impressively put together for a jam game); good work all round!

I really loved the idea on paper and the aesthetics, the music, the simplicity of the game play, and the looping mechanism tides really well with the theme...but I say on "paper" because the execution didn't necessarily bring the challenge I was looking for. Perhaps it was running slow on my computer, but the marquee movement didn't feel like it was going with the song, it was too slow, and I did not find it challenging to play.

This does not mean I did not like it, by no means, I very much enjoyed the idea of it. Just wish it has a "speed" option to make it faster and that it was more like a rhythm puzzler because I found myself wanting to tap to the beat and complete the puzzle but it is not built in...yet ;) Nicely done

I loved the concept and the art style! The levels also head a nice difficulty curve.
The music was cool and enjoyable, but I would also have like some kind of audio feedback when moving the notes, especially since the game is music themed.

Graphics definitely brought me here, great job at capturing such vintage look, in gameplay its really neat idea, it relly needs instant restart, because sometimes you have to wait really long time before you can correct your mistake, also more levels would be nice. Well done!

Perfect concept. All is matching. Art, choice of musics, gameplay. At first I thought it would be too easy, but the curve of difficulty is really well made. The last level where we have to keep a piece to the end is very interesting. The only complain is that it would be nice to have a restart option. I know this is your way to match the theme, but it's annoying to wait the end of the music to start again.
Anyway, you made a very polish and addictive game! Bravo!

Interesting game - more a musical project than a puzzle. I liked those tracks - good vibes. Well done ++

Great game, smart and unique! Got my "Congratulations" at the end. Missed a "replay" button a little bit, but liked your game a lot. Music and artstyle are awesome, as well as (as I said before) unique gameplay, I wish there were more levels.

really cool puzzles combined with the music loop. Only point that could make it even smoother would be the music being actual loops, repeating seamless when you fail to solve the puzzle
