GLITCH LOOP by ZakAmana

GLITCH LOOP is about solving short puzzles with the help of your past self. You can play it on the web
Post Compo bugfixes:
- typo in the title.... sigh
- player could get stuck behind yellow door in level 2-3
- if player & ghost stepped on an interruptor at the same time, it wouldn't work properly
- completing level 2-5 would reset level 2-4.

Great job, this is easily my favorite so far!
It's hard to believe a game with this level of polish was made in 48 hours.
The game mechanics are easy yet bring many gameplay opportunities.
Great job!
@diego-teran Thanks for your feedback. Would you mind elaborating on what kind of bugs you encountered please? :)
I am a sucker for the glitch aesthetic so I am probably biased but the graphics and effects are stellar.
Puzzles strike a good balance in difficulty.
Good job!
In total a really god game well done.
I love the visual effects and sounds.
The mechanics are a really cool variation on the usual 'clones' take on the topic, the limited movement and time based mechanics really make it feel distinct.
I'm in love with the whole aesthetic you've created here, and the puzzles are great too!

Love the mechanics and the music a lot. Again very well done.
One thing I did notice: if you go back into a level you've already done (like I did on accident lol), it resets your collectibles progress on it. But that's the only weird thing I noticed while playing.
I just found out 2 of my absolute favourites of the last 2 jams where also made by you
You truly are a Ludum Dare legend!
@purrseus thanks, it means a lot, I'm glad you liked the game(s)
"I’m building a standalone for you right now. Are you on Mac or PC?" That's awesome, thank you so much! I am on PC.
I'm sorry the browser version isn't working, I'm using Chrome as well and didn't meet any trouble :(
Have fun playing!
"Let me know if you encounter any issue :)" Yes, sure!
"I’m sorry the browser version isn’t working" No need to be sorry, it is not you fault!
"Have fun playing!" I will do! Thank you!
This title is easily the best compo "production" I've seen, and I'm saying production because that amount of polish and value is something we struggle with even in everyday coding and design, not to mention in game jams.
Is amazing because...
-----------
- :medal: that glitch transition and how it makes the game such a rocking cool experience
- :medal: amazing idea with the square form factor and clock imagery
- :medal: the palette, characters, and overall art direction, flow, and design are top notch
- :medal: how did you even come up with the ideas and the puzzles
- :medal: this is, hands down, the smartest game I've played all LD47
- :medal: so much JUUUUUICE! (shows how much a few tweens and animation curves can do
- :medal: cool music, great classic sfxr style sounds
- :medal: the game just works and explains itself in just a few turns, and it has quite deep mechanics!
- :v: absolutely bona-fide COMPO entry that raises the bar for us all. excellent game page, too!
This is one of the few games where I literally can't say anything that would make it better, this is just so far out of my league. THANK you for being such an inspiring jammer. I will do compo some time again for sure (my last compo was LD37...).
Okay, I got one:
Could be even better if...
--------
- Time lapse of how you made this masterpiece? Teach us, sensei, what is your process?
Thanks again. Best game of LD47 so far for me, and easily top 5 contender in the Compo.
You are a true source of awe and inspiration. I also love how your profile page has your past entries, I'll go ahead and steal that idea, mmmkay?
Edit: Got it, once you get the solution it's easy :D
Edit2: Ok now 2-4 melts me.
**Here is my feedback:**
**What do I like?**
- The main menu.
- I liked the level selection screen.
- I liked the music.
- I liked the SFX.
- I liked the visuals.
- I liked the timers.
- I liked after pressing "Esc" while playing the game, when it asks if you sure you want to go to level selection, and it pauses the game at the same time. (You can pause the game, without going back to the level selection) (I hope you got what I said)
- I enjoyed the mechanics and the gameplay of the game.
---
**What don't I like?**
- Didn't like it when it shows the last time record, and not the best time.
- The game keeps playing on the background, after finishing the level.
---
**Bugs:**
- I found a bug on level 1 - 7, the blue door closes on the player.
- Level 1 - 6 ends before I get to the clock.
---
**Suggestions:**
- The player goes/walks by itself to the next level on the level selection screen.
- After pressing "Esc" for going back to the level selection, animate pressing the buttons.
Also I found some bugs. When i beat all game, level 2-4 had empty time end diamonds (i beat it whith two diamods before). I played this level again, and when i beat it level 2-6 becomes locked, and level 2-5 had empty time end diamonds, like i'm unlocked this level again.
There are alse some problems with passing through walls, but I will not say more specifically.
Anyway, it's realy cool game, i want to see full version. Graphics, musics, efects, evrything is on very high level.
@sh80 thanks for playing! I'd like to, I have more level ideas/mechanics in mind. I'm working on another -bigger- project right now but if I have a little bit of time I'll add a few more worlds to Glitch Loop.
I did have an issue the first few tries because i kept pressing space to continue at the end of the level (since it's used in menus to confirm/continue).
Maybe that's just me, but the "screen shake/flip" (for a lack of a better word) was too much for me and distracting / disorienting at time. I think an option to turn it off (or down) would be great if you plan on working on it later, though i understand not adding options like this in a jam :)
When I finished the sixth level, I was fully expecting it would be the last level. I was amazed to see another five levels that expand upon and further develop the core gameplay mechanic!
I also think the timer that spins around the edge of the level is a stroke of genius. Without it, the gameplay would slowly devolve into frustrating trial-and-error as the complexity of the puzzles increases.
Very impressive for a compo game.
I think one thing that would be a nice touch is the ability to just quickly reset the level so your past self doesn't show up (I found myself very confused sometimes when all I wanted was to start over).
Not much to complain about here. Great compo entry!
Overall, fantastic work! Can't believe this was made in 48 hours, you are a machine.
