You're the protector of the soulfire. Your job is to keep away monsters who with to claim it's power. If the lame dies, you do as well.

Attack could have used some more juice. also the flame you're protecting. The game is too hard with only 1 health.

It reminds me quite a bit of [Super Crate Box](https://store.steampowered.com/app/212800/Super_Crate_Box/). Have you ever played that? :)
The limited color palette really add the the aestethics and mood of the game !
One of the game of this jam that I played for the longest time ^^ I ended up stopping because for unknown reason I couldn't move right randomly which was gamebreaking. I don't know if it's a bug with your game or if my keyboard is dying on me...
My only real bit of criticism would be that the theme is really loosely adapted. By interpreting it like this you could basically adapt every game that has enemy in it. Still, really fun game, congrats !
I just had a small bug a couple of times, that one input got stuck and I kept walking into one direction until i pressed that button again.
To make the game even cooler it just needs soume sound-efects and maybe the souls being sucked into the actual flame.
Also I don't think the 'falls down once, comes back stronger, falls back twice, you dead' mechanic mentioned in the beginning is actually in there. If it is, it is broken

Killing the enemies was also really satisfying.
I had some problems, because sometimes the character just walked without me pressing something, but other than that, it was just the right level of difficulty
