Metamorphosis by petersbob

[raw]
made by petersbob for LD34 (JAM)
Controls: Left and Right arrow keys for move. Up arrow to jump.
Collect all four orbs to transform from a robot an organic create, then save your friend in the middle.

A collaboration between artist KOUsuke and programmer petersbob, Metamorphosis follows the robot Robort and his exploration of his world.

KOUsuke and petersbot are both students currently in the midst of the burning hell known as finals. They foolishly decided to make this game instead; there are no regrets. If possible in the future we'd like to add more things to this game to make it more polished (as this is our first finished game).

Fixed jumping bugs.

I'm having a lot of difficulty distinguishing the background from the foreground. I just don't really know what I'm doing, because I can't really tell where I should be going. Maybe if you could just intentionally dull the background graphics (dramatically), it would fix the problem.

I liked the sounds though!

I don't know what I'm doing in this game, I can almost fly with that jumping, I'm staying and I'm falling when it looks like I shouldn't have... Hm... Intriguing. But highly disturbing.

Very confusing, there doesn't seem to be a goal (?)

I really like the weird atmosphere. I can't really figure out what it all means but I like it.

The controls are super weird though. Sometimes I can double jump, sometimes I can levitate by pressing up, sometimes i drop like a stone. I am not sure if it was intended. Also, finding the orbs is very hard, especially because it is hard to understand what things in the background I can jump onto.

It was very quirky. The jumping felt pretty bad. I won in the end as a little green person. Art was nice enough but i'd have liked a more zoomed-out view of the world.

Nice game with great atmosphere, it was kinda hard to distinguish what was a platform and what wasn't, also the bouncing after you land makes jumping kinda annoying

Reminded me of the game "One of the best birthdays" [1] by tom7, from LD24. I'm afraid that's the most positive thing I can say about the game :(

I gave up after getting a few upgrades because I kept falling through things that looked like platforms but weren't, and bumping my head against things that looked like empty space but were actually platforms. This is not the kind of difficulty which makes a game fun.
