Decent sound design, clear visuals, overall feels very nice.
Some issues:
1. Camera made me dizzy
2. I'm sad that you didn't port face indicator of your health, like in first game.
wasn't so sure which weapons i had and switching between weapons on trackpad is hard 😅 would recommend adding switching using q/e or the numerals 123 etc.
and wow did I quickly go through my bullets. shooting is fun in this game!
great art!
good job overall!
Unfortunately there is too much Shotgun ammo. Because of that, I kept shooting only with this type of weapon. It would be good, if you would limit this ammo, so that the player will use all weapons, because they are fun to play. Maybe you could start with just one weapon type and get the other ones later, so you would have a nice progression feeling in the game.
The feedback of the weapons is good and the overall gameplay is fast and addictive. Nice entry!
I like the doom reference as wel
@jonah thanky you, I thought about adding changing weapons with keyboard, but didn't have time at all.
@kultisti thanks.
@rucksack thanks, I wish I could make better balance, but I wanted to be sure that the game isn't too hard far a jam.
@aterlamia thank you there is a hud, but it's bugged a little bit.
This game is so thicc that it broke my browser.
But in all seriousness that soundtrack was awesome! And the game feels really satisfying to play too. A true homage to Doom.
Also, is that megalovania?
Idk if people have said it before but when you respawn you stay red.
Great job!
But yea idk what this has to do with the theme lol.
@mr-developer thank you, we thought about some theme related mechanics, but scrap them down.
@mateusboga theme is great this time, but we couldn't find something interesting for top-down shooter.
@quadape thank you friend, indeed, Godot bring a lot of cool things, but I still have to learn many things.
@grizzliusmaximus thank you for such kind words. Did you made a game for LD45 where you play as a bear?
@pune007 thanks! I swear, it's Doom!
@elpadlos тема расскрывается в вечном цикле борьбы с демонами в каждой части игры!
@binaryspark thank you for playing, it's true, we didin't spent much time polishing camera
@mhm32167 thanks for playing!
@malai thank you, unfortunately, this time I didn't work on controls well
@toby1645 thank you for playing
@groggdew thank you!
But it has some cons, which I found during 10 minute gameplay session:
- Switching weapons. When my machinegun was out of ammo I tried to scroll the mouse wheel DOWN, and nothing happens, so I thought that I had no weapons at all and missed the weapons. But after 5 minutes, I realized that mouse wheel UP switches to next weapon. So please, make the mouse wheel DOWN possible or automatically switch to another weapon with ammo.
- No theme matching. I didn't realized what's the point for the theme. Restarting the level? Maybe. But there is no cutscene or text which describes the jam theme.
- Hard to find enemies. Sometimes on big rooms I didn't find out why the doors are still closed if I " had killed" all enemies in the vision range.
- Background music is silent. The music is damn good, but I couldn't hear it properly cause of it's low volume.
Other than that, great entry. Especially love the music track!
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
The game feel is instantly there, due to slick controls, clear visual feedback, nice enemy design and level design. The art is on point, the music is very good, I would even love it if the volume was a bit higher compared to the sound effects. This is definitely a very solid entry. Great job!
All the inspirations (Doom, Nuclear Throne, Enter the Gungeon, Untitled goose game in the name, Undertale reef, and many more) are pleasant but maybe a bit too much for me.
Bug: When opening the menu, the HUD disappears and don't come back when you go back to the game.
Thanks for the game I had fun 💕
This team definitely did a great job pulling some familiar favorites into a new package.
The music itself is a true pleasure and definitely keeps you in! :)
@darkmax14 frankly, I love Nuclear Throne;
@zrepa thank you, we tried our best working on level design;
@nethead thank you for playing, yes, there are a HUD bug related to "Return" button in Pause Menu;
@grizzliusmaximus I think, your game is about a bear, but in a special battle gear;
@hexkritor thank you!
@kuro thank you for playing!
@purpledartfrog thank you Mr Frog!
@doot thank you for playing, we tried hard to deliver best results
@rohezal thank you!
@jamster thank you for playing. You can switch weapons with a mouse wheel
@arad-hamidsamiee thank you for playing.
@donotshift thank you for playing, I wish I could fix all bugs.
@popdaddygames thank you for playing!
@extar thank you!
@ellladee спасибо, мы старались
@patrickrmc thank you for your feedback

* I personally found the sfx design to be lacking and would have enjoyed some juicier weapon sounds (I was playing on webGL, I've heard webGL doesn't like certain sound assets so I figured I'd point that out)
* The game was loud at times and could have used a volume slider
* When many of the projectile based enemies are on screen it becomes a chore, rather than challenging, to dodge incoming fire. I think reducing the size of certain projectiles would have helped in this regard.
* a cooldown indicator for the dash mechanic would have been nice. I have a hard time tracking that kind of data in my head as I play action packed games so for someone like me that almost categorizes a cooldown indicator as an accessibility feature of sorts haha
Overall, great work!
The shacking camera was a bit too much though...
Good game !
But... where the theme ?
It would have been nice if the scrolling for weapons looped, so I can keep scrolling down if I want to.
Well done!
But seriously, really fun game. And I'm a sucker for anything DOOM-like so I had to play this. Great pixel art and audio and the game was fun overall. I think the recoil for some weapons was a little too large but otherwise it was really cool :)
@katamary thank you mate!
@justcamh thank you for playing on stream, it was awsome!
@seth-tal thank you for such detailed feedback. Unfortunately, we started working on sounds last day of the jam and Save doesn't have enough experience in working with game sounds. Speaking about enemies, unfortunately, I didn't have time to balance them better, I understand what do you mean and recognise the problem.
@nekorio thank you for playing!
@tomatolamp thank you for kind words!
@syafire thank you for playing on your stream, it was awsome. And yeah, you're not stupid. ^_^
@r3l0ad1 thank you.
@aemiliu5 thank you. Yes, I love NT, it's a great game!
@wegpast the theme is in description of the game! XD Thank you for playing!
@asfdfdfd thank you for playing!
@raphiell I thought about looped scrolling, but forgot to implement it. Thank you for playing!
@creamybacon2 HONK!
@badpiggy thank you for playing!
Although it's lot of fun, there are some minor improvements that would be nice: the screen shake was kinda too much for me and was making me a little nauseas, the UI for how many bullets wasn't showing on the screen and I didn't know when will my bullets run out. Everything else in the game was ton of fun, love it!
me: oh, ok then
music: goes straight to megalovania
me: wait that's illegal!
@getsky Thank you for playing!
@forgeronstudio thank you for kind words.
@elemel thank you for playing, we didn't have enough time to work with UX, as I spent about a day writing AI for the first time on Godot.
@somogy thanks for playing!
@a333 hope, you liked it.:)
https://youtu.be/EMxUWdulrFE
~~Doomguy~~ Honkguy in a virtual cyberspace demolishing devils with the power of ~~friendship and love~~ lead and gunpowders... One of the best game a PC gamer could ever ask forRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Also that little megalovania like jingle in the game's music got me revolving at 512mph for duration of 42 seconds for sure
Seriously, this is a very fun shooter, the graphics are great and the game feel is top notch. Only downside, I'm using only a touchpad so I wasn't able to use another weapon. It would be great to be able to scroll weapons with a button. Aside from that awesome game! Congrats!
My feedback:
Too much screenshake for me (or maybe screenshake lasts too long? im not sure). An option to disable would've been nice.
I couldn't tell how the game incorporated the theme.
Possible improvement:
- wheel of weapons could be a .. loop ;-) when you run out of ammo, you would not need to remember in what direction you need to scroll
@eugenik thanks!
@vlad-mgc thank you for your video, good luck in making more videos! I appreciate your feedback!
@testuser thank you, yeah, I should have add some additional controls on swaping weapons.
@yword thank you, yeah, there is too strong shake, indeed.
@zik you did my day with this image, thank you.
@guilhermesouza thank you, yeah, I didn't spend a lot of time adjusting shake, it's true.
@dizzy thank you!
@lynexis thanks for your suggestion of HONK button! It's the only reason to make a postjam version!
@toulou thank you for playing, this time I did a bad job with controls and UX, true.
@dev-dwarf thank you for playing, yes, screen shake wasn't adjusted right.
@wdebowicz thanks, yeah, I forgot about looping weapons nad a proper out of ammou indication.
@ree-rolph thank you for playing, frankly, if I hadn't spent a day on AI I would have had more time on polishing.
@clemetayer thank you for playing.
As it is not a type of game I am familiar with, I will say that your shots bouncing on the wall were fun when there were a lot of space but often made me feel like someone was shooting at me when in close corridors (but maybe, with more experience of these type of games, it will not be as disturbing as there is quite a difference between friendly and enemy fire.
A small improvement would be a sound when your weapon is empty as watching the UI can be hard in intense action moments to know how much bullets you have left and another would be to have the weapons wheel fully turn (ie when switching to next weapon at grenade launcher, getting the machine gun instead of having to scroll the entire wheel in the "previous weapon" order to do so).
I still had a bunch of fun playing the game so congrats on this entry :)
...when can I have a chainsaw?
**Things that went well:**
* Camera control is well thought out
* Movement handles perfectly
* Sound has a ton of cute little homages and is overall a bop
**Things that could use a second look:**
* You may want to let people know how to play in-game (that may have been what the help menu was for?)
* Having audio controls would be kinda nice
Honestly, my critiques are kinda similar to the above ones and all of them are things that are kinda picky for a game jam entry. Very well done!
I was a little unsure of how the game fit in the theme, maybe I'm missing something but I just saw it as a twin-stick parody of Doom.
I experienced some bugs. Bullet count vanishing and reload issues (not sure what key reloads). The dash also kept going in one direction regardless of facing or wasd movement.
Other than that, fuppin' fantastic!
So good! Had to play the win version as the webgl had some lag on the audio, and I wanted to enjoy the juiciness, Great job all around, felt like a very complete game experience and was very fun to play.
The theme is a stretch, I didn't really see the connection, and I don't find it a super innovative game, but everything else is awesome.
Btw is level 2 completable? I ran out of doors and enemies and couldn't get out... Maybe I had a glitch? Or maybe I was just lost and stupid :joy:
Graphics fit really well, remind me of 90s PC games.
Music was my absolute favourite part, you can tell somebody composed it specially for this game (and dropped in a few Easter eggs too ;) )
Say, could you link in the description to all the music used in the game? I'd like to keep listening to it :D
@j0ye thank you for kind words!
@mikoziq thank you for playing our game on the stream. It's an interesting idea to go to id Software with our goose game. XD
@duke thank you for your feedback, I wish we had more time on polishing levels and gameplay, but I spent a lot of time on writing my first AI in Godot.
@freshd thank you for playing!
@joedev thank you, I'm also a big fan of NT, it's a great game and one of the source of inspiration.
@mackandrius thank you!
@vivien-fargette thanky you! Sounds were added in 6 hours before the end of the jam, it's true that there are a lot of problems with them and UX in general.
@javasaurus thank you for playing on your stream, it was great to watch!
@twobitmatt thank you for your feedback. In HONK III we will add something better — a knife. Because peace has never been an option!
@thebooksnail thank you for playing!
@mmiddleton thank you for your feedback. I wanted to make a simple hints, but instead, I spent more time on polishing gameplay in the first level.
@marcmagus thank you for playing. Yes, hazards would have been better, if we had added some simple animations on them.
@angela-he thank you for playing! And it's a goose guy. ;)
@gamepopper thank you! There is no theme, only HONK!
@ruruie thanks for playing. There is no reloading at all.
@guilloteam thanks for playing. The only loop we have, an eternal loop of level restart! XD
@erlioniel thanky you for kind words. Goose guy doesn't need a theme, he needs only his shotgun. :)
@tommy thank you!
@szkocka thanks for playing!
@eldogg thank you, our composer did his best to deliver the excellent music to the game.
@michaelaranda thank you for playing. Sound design isn't good this time, indeed, but we tried our best.
@davidpeterworks thank you. It's true, screenshacke is too strong.
@mharring thank you for playing!
I liked it a lot. There is a variety of enemies and quite some space to explore.
I failed to see how this sticks to the theme though. But maybe I missed it.
Great entry overall. Good job.
Theme of the jam is rather tacked on :wink:

Good luck on your ratings, see you next LD! :D

Great soundtrack, wonderfully fluent framerate (especially the html export from Godot... o:), and super fun gameplay! Everything about this is just extremely solid all around!
... anyway! General feedback - the rooms where you need to keep killing until a door unlocks could do with a bit more of a visual indication thats whats going on - as part of me worried you just had respawns and I was wasting time killing the respawns. Also, as noted on stream, the screen shakes was a little overkill for me - so perhaps an option to control / disable it would be nice!
P.S. I love all the musical references in the soundtrack, great job!
honk honk, motherduckers
* movement felt very natural,
* music is good,
* progression through the level feels good,
* numerous weapons to choose from,
* plentiful graphical gadgets on the wall.
But I also disliked these things:
* lack of checkpoints / long level (I died 5-10 minutes in the game and didn't feel like going through the locked doors again),
* aiming less so: sometimes my bullets got stuck in walls and I was unable to hit my targets,
* screenshake felt a bit weird: perhaps making it go away faster after shots would improve this?
* the music felt like a hasty collection of already existing music,
* the bullets didn't feel very powerful, especially the shotgun,
* ungrateful selection of colors on the circular pads in some rooms - I thought that different colors wouldn't hurt me,
To be clear: I don't mean any of these things to undermine your game. I just think that if these things were done better, the game would be much stronger. I still enjoyed my time playing, so keep up the good work! :slight_smile:
@simplepotential thanks, there is a problem with screenshake, it's too strong right now.
@3ncryp73d thanky you for playing!
@fabula-rasa thank you!
@elysiagriffin thanky you for your feedback and streams!
@trexxak thanky you for playing!
@ursagames I'm glad that I could see your playthrough on your stream, thanks.
@honest-dan thank you for the most epic feedback and for your stream.
@arron-fowler thank you for playing
@doctorhummer thanks, yeah, screeshacke is a bit too strong, and thank you for such an epic art
@lunareffect thanky you!
@sprotex thanks for such a detailed feedback on the game, much appreciated.
@moritz-jaeger thank you for playing!
@peace-of-cake-games thanks, there are a bug with HUD, it doesn't show up again if you press return button in pause menu.
@pee-thief thank you!
@nareh thanks for playing, there is HUD, but it's bugged.
My only gripe was that the level design was slightly confusing and not offering the player much choice.
Otherwise, strong shooter game!
@darenn thank you for playing. Yes, screen shacke is a bit too strong.
@smiley405 thank you.
@telescape2000 thanks, we tried our best.
@chocolat-endive thank you for kind words. Shotgun must be a pinnacle of satisfaction in shooters.
@alekm thank you for playing!
@jose-bonilla thank you!
@hadik thanks, there is on theme, only HONK! XD
@namidasai thank you for playing, much appreciate.
Regardless, I had a lot of fun with it. I could totally see this becoming a full game if you just polish it up a bit. Nice job!!
Gotta say, the amount of visual flair on this one is insane. Super duper well done there! I do wish there was a bit more feedback when you got hit, though. I kept neglecting to look at my HP and would sometimes be shocked to discover how low it was. I also think the level was maybe a *bit* too long to complete on one life without checkpoints, but that might just be because I suck. :stuck_out_tongue:
Overall though, a super solid entry, nice job!!
One minor thing - you can shoot through some walls -

The shakes are too strong for my taste - with my skill level I was missing enemies all the time... But that could be just the matter of my personal experience - I imagine a skillful player would have no problems with that whatsoever :)
The camera was a little hyper for me, especially if I played this full screen (probably not supposed to? :smiley: )
Great music, sharp controls, simple enough to understand, although I kinda wished some hints on the controls (especially for pressing buttons) was in the game. I lost the UI at some point so I couldn't see my hit points or ammo any longer. It might be related to switching to a windowed mode from fullscreen?
Happy to have played this in any case!
@ale thank you for playing. It's true, some events were adjusted badly, as we didn't have much time for it and we wanted to make game simple enough for Ludum Dare.
@copito thank you for playing. Frankly, this game is a joke, it was intended to make this game a simple fusion of Nuclear Throne and Doom.
@coleslaughter thanks for playing on the stream, much appreciated.There is a nasty bug with a HUD and Pause menu.
@johnnysix thank you for playing!
@invader thank you!
@hunttis thank you for playing! Yes, camera shake is a bit too strong.
@rainyday2800 thank you for playing.
@rafaelgiordanno thanks for playing!
If I were to change anything about the gameplay it would be to give unlimited ammo. Whenever I ran out of ammo, it just felt like a really unsatisfying stop to the action. I know giving unlimited ammo would make it hard to balance the different weapons but maybe if you make the player have to reload, it would force them to swap to another weapon in the middle of the fight or take the time to reload if they want to keep using the same one. And maybe also include a full reload that takes longer but reloads all weapons at once to keep the action going.
Also the music and sounds were awesome
@coding4rtist thank you for kind words.
@jesus-gonzalez thank you, yes, I wanted to make a top-down shooter this LD, but we couldn't manage to make something interesting related to the theme. Then, I suggested to make HONK II. :)
@666savior thank you for honking and tearing.
@celuloide thanks, I also adore Nuclear Throne, it's a great game and I tried to mix Doom and NT together.
