But overall great!
Good job!
Strenghts :
- Fun writing, close to games like Crusader Kings 2
- Great artworks
- Good rhythm
Cons :
- Some readability problems in menus
Excellent job !
(played great on my phone also btw)
Incredible writing!
My only complaint is the difficulty is pretty brutal since it's rng based. Though that being said, this is still by a significant margin my favourite game out of this jam so far! Absolutely incredible work from all of you!
I am generally not the greatest fan of text adventures, but the execution on this one and the visualization of the map and resources was very pleasant :)
I think I found a bug.... in the village where you can seemingly buy the artifacts but in the end only get offered expensive supplies you cannot decline to buy the supplies....
I like it much
Keep up the good work and i hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare!
In the end I managed to beat the game after a number of playthroughs. The only relic I managed to find naturally was the cultists surrounding the orb (no preconditions, single choice). Then get 800g, and rush to the capital. Also, it's possible to backtrack onto any grey node without incurring any cost. Since there's no difference between the nodes on the world map, it's best to make a path straight to the capital, then spend remaining supplies exploring open nodes that were passed.
I liked the art and the music and the writing, so all that was great though.
This is a great game! Had a lot of fun playing it! Thanks for your entry!
The music is great and the artwork awesome !!
The tale is about the surviving of a dragon or the hero so it's in the theme.
I found it very hard... you probably need some luck and now every dialogue outcome but... It's not a problem to try and try again :)
I found the font to be too busy for the textbox and makes for an unpleasent read. I think something simpler would work better and the font you used could fir better for the UI
The art is very nice, and the world building and writing is fun.
Great job on the game! I have like zero complaints about it and will definitelly replay it!
I love the atmosphere and overall tone of this game! Although I wish there a non-random way I could go about completing it, this is a pretty good compromise given the time constraints of the jam. Absolutely well done!
My only bit of constructive criticism would be to adjust the UI to feel more skeuomorphic, like maybe using a scroll for the window outline? idk. Either way, great game guys.
Obviously more content would be nice, but it's a jam game so that's not an issue. My primary piece of feedback is that the text can be a bit tough to read (I have crap eyesight), some sort of contrast would have make it a bit easier.
more expressively. Since this is the text game, pay attention to interface. Sometimes the text get out of the frame. This makes reading more difficult for player. Text games must be comfortable for reading. Good luck and good job! <3
Some of the texts reall made me smile.
I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but this is how I finally won the game: James, the Historian. I got 1 relic and James left me with 1000g. With that, I rushed on over to the Grand Wizard to rent the rest of the materials for 800g.

The text is not very readable.
An innovative take on the theme.
Perfect.
I was at first catched by the spectacular drawings, but I would loved to see more of them! Maybe asking one for each town is asking for the sky, but I think at least making few more background would have changed my overall rating from 5/5 into a... well... 5/5.
I wonder how did you manage to have your html build full screen at the page load ?
I hadn't caught it the first time around but you greyed out the different places that you've visited already which is cool but it wasn't quite bold enough to obviously notice. The dialogue I enjoyed and the music was great to listen to in the background while playing. I'm hoping that sometime after my fifth attempt I might actually beat the game XD Hasn't happened yet :(
BUT...
### Pros:
- ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE SONG (I saw you Opted out that, but great choice of music, really matched with the game)
- The painted over the sketch art-style really caught my eyes and drove me to just be staring at the background and forget it was even a game, They are so good it made me wish to add them to my Desktop's Wallpaper
- The map exploring system gave me a "Faster than light" vibe, really enjoyed that.
### Cons:
- Sometimes the designated area that all the text should be in gets overloaded and some answers shows up outside this area (First screenshot)
- In the same screenshot above I'm asked with things that involves my precious coin, but it hasn't shown me how much of it I had (Maybe detecting if the choice involves money and displaying it on the screen instead of going to the map section?) On the second Screenshot I don't even have the option to click on the map to check my wallet.

Well, I guess that sums up for what I could find out of your game, even knowing I don't like this style of game, The story is really well written for a Jam/Compo game ^^
If you want to know the timestamp of when your game was played you can see it in this spreadsheet:

And then look in my latest videos and find your game being play (after the current stream ends)

Overall good game, interesting gameplay
Really enjoyed playing, but was awfully challenging. I played two games, and was not able to lift the curse -_-.
And you really knew how to sell the game with the uploaded cover image here in LD.
I really like how you can bargain with villagers to gain things/mercenaries, I had the survivalist and I was very surprised to see that I could get out of the misty villager with her, I honestly didn't expect parts like that, my ast self is very stupid for not taking her earlier haha.
It took awhile for me to collect the relics, not sure how to find all of them consistently, but that may be me overlooking something.
The backgrounds were also very nice, they fit the medieval (I think that's what it is) aesthetic you guys were going for.
You guys did a great job with this game!
It was really fun to play through the different story threads.
Keep it up, great game!
It was a great experience, following the story was quite interesting and challenging to find the perfect route. A good one!
