Looping Days by ThomasEsc

[raw]
made by ThomasEsc for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

This is my entry to the October 2020 Ludum-Dare 47.

The theme was Stuck in a loop.

I took place in the Compo categorie (I had to do everything in under 48 hours). Unfortunaly, I did not have time to do the sound design in the project.

Tools used : Unity, Photoshop, Procreate, Maya

Will you find the way to break the loop ?

I absolutly love your graphics and the controllers, and I was really excited to download your game. But just like in real life, the routine gets boring. Yea I get it, It fit´s the theme perfectly but the game would have been mouch more fun if I had some saying myself och instead had needs and promises. For example, I need to work during the day, but also needs to eat, bath and relax. That way it get´s a bit more like a game and less like a interactive story about repetition. Well anyway, great design, really loved that.

Wow your graphics are incredible! The way you did the opening and closing of rooms was really really nice.
I think that gameplay wise you should think about ways you could motivate the player to keep going (although I realise the irony that in lockdown it's hard to find reasons to keep going day to day). I think that a running score, or maybe 'needs' bars or a schedule rather than simply one task after the other. At the moment the main gameplay loop is just going up and down the elevator doing different tasks. I feel you could add some real gravity to the game by allowing the player to chose what they want to do and balance their needs/work/health etc.
Again I'm so impressed by those graphics, and I think you've got an amazing foundation here to work with, the possibilities are endless! Nice one!

I second what others have said. The graphics and transitions between rooms are great. The idea fits the theme very well. But the game wasn't engaging unfortunately. Perhaps some resource management and giving player more freedom would have been in order. Hmm, maybe even some animations for each task would've made a difference. It's a shame there is no audio, I was waiting for footsteps echo in the rooms.

In any case, I see lots of potential and would love to see this developed further.
