I like the idea of a card game for ludum dare!\r<br\/>\r<br\/>The mechanics aren't very well explained, and it's odd to be forced to make a deck when you haven't played the game yet :S\r<br\/>\r<br\/>The graphics are great, other than the small font on the cards.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Great job! I can tell you put a lot of work into it, but it just needs a bit more explanation about how the game works. The HELP scroll just launches the game."},{"author_name":"Tom","author_uid":"60667","time":"Dec 14, 2015 @ 4:02am","epoch":1450065420,"text":"Really liked the art. Cards being scrolls was an awesome way to display them. I think your idea was solid but I'm sorry there was just way too much shuffling animation and at one point I played a card and accidentally wiped my board so I scored the game low for fun but high in everything else. Thanks for making a game!"},{"author_name":"Modoc73","author_uid":"50179","time":"Dec 14, 2015 @ 4:02am","epoch":1450065420,"text":"Felt like it needed a bit more explanation to what does what. Also, I liked yours, but there is something that I didn't like in the game, the enemy has infinite cards, so it is not exactly a fair play. This is a serious problem which break the game. Apart of that the game is enjoyable and very ambitious for a 48h gamejam. Maybe make the player play a short game with a preconstructed deck would help him to understand the mechanics better. Having to draft cards before actually playing the game is quite difficult."},{"author_name":"local minimum","author_uid":"24765","time":"Jan 2, 2016 @ 4:39pm","epoch":1451752440,"text":"I found the idea quite interesting. The UI was a bit confusing, before I realized that some cards were skipped due to not being applicable at the moment. This could probably be helped if the arrows around the current card weren't visible all the time, but only when the action was permitted. Also the color coding wasn't very helpful on the arrows (red is so often associated with cancel and quit). I would have liked words 'play' and 'save' next to the arrows to assist the understanding. (At least in the beginning) Another thing about the cards\/scrolls was that I found myself almost only read the center text which made it confusing when there appeared minions on the board at times. So probably the title part of the card should attract more focus (maybe glow).\r<br\/>\r<br\/>It was nice to be able to build a deck, but as I didn't know how many I kind of felt like quitting it after 10. It would also be nice to be able to randomly assign a full deck or rest of the deck. \r<br\/>\r<br\/>The indicators at the top and bottom that I suppose reflected the size of the deck or something wasn't at all clear. And in the end I just got single cards drawn from the side. Not sure what that was about.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>I enjoyed playing though, and I won my match."},{"author_name":"BloodJohn","author_uid":"26449","time":"Jan 4, 2016 @ 10:03am","epoch":1451901480,"text":"The game is strictly for fans of Heart Stone."}],"images":["ld34\/29364-f3643809986406a234b4b96df7966112.jpg","ld34\/29364-08534a0c7b2e9d97dcc175d0208360d4.jpg","ld34\/29364-e2e84623cf2f2698c11a2e748ef1e869.jpg"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/7gyni18yi7ixy8j\/Void%20Gate.zip?dl=0","text":"Windows"},{"url":"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/x5n4ey8adzfqd51\/Void%20Gate%20Project.zip?dl=0","text":"Source"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"6504","g_author":"29364","g_event":"LD34","g_eventkey":"31","g_subevent":"COMPO","g_urlkey":"6466","g_title":"Void Gate","g_status":"UCHK1","g_place":"363","g_commentcount":"12","g_site2_node_id":"0","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":[],"node":null,"orig_images":["http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/511439\/29364-shot0-1450063782.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/511439\/29364-shot1-1450063782.png-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/511439\/29364-shot2-1450063782.png-eq-900-500.jpg"],"text":"\"It is happening again. The Second World's forces are attacking us once more. Being one of the few capable summoners left in our realm, it is up to you to travel to the Void Gate and prevent the enemy from reaching our world.\"\r\n\r\n[Summary]\r\nVoid Grid is a turn-based card game in which you must defeat the computer-controlled opponent by getting an allied minion to their side of the board.\r\n\r\n[Theme]\r\nI aimed for both themes when making this game. It meets the \"two button controls\" theme due to the left and right clicks controlling all of the game play, and the \"grow\" theme comes into play with the card system, where you can choose to either play cards or grow them. Growing a card costs one resource, but causes it to return to your hand and cost one less for your next turn.\r\n\r\n[Controls]\r\n~ Escape: Exit the game at any time.\r\n~ Left click: Select the left option.\r\n~ Right click: Select the right option.\r\n\r\n[Instructions]\r\n1.
