Very verrrry nice game, really nice art and very well made game with nice graphics. The only thing I want to give as feedback would be that it is not directly clear that the babies in the top left are your lives. The first impression is save 3 babies

Great concept, design and sound. Absolutely adorable. From twenty turtles onwards, it gets very hard since the baby turtles just go suicide themselves simultaneously. Might need some balancing mechanics there, got a little frustrated. Overall great effort!

@c42 We're happy that you enjoyed it! Yeah, we find it rather challenging as well. The game gets pretty difficult around like wave 4 or 5. At the moment, we personally enjoy the concentration needed at the endgame, but if we were to make this a full game, we would probably want to smooth out the difficulty curve over a longer period of time to make it more accessible.

I love the aesthetics of this game so much! I also really liked the unique set of moves that Turtle Daddy has at his disposal. Using the shell to collect babies is especially clever. If I had to pick one thing to nitpick, it would be that the speed of the main character feels a bit off, although it may be necessary for the gameplay, I don't know. Awesome job!

HOW IS YOUR GAME SO GOOOD
I've been seeing you in the comments of quite a few games so I decided to check you out. My immediate first thought is that your art is good enough for a legit full release mobile game, and when I started playing it, your music and gameplay just further emphasizes my first thought. I'm surprised you don't have like 100+ ratings already. GG, you win :)

The graphics for this game are tight. Everything looks like it was drawn by the same artist and all goes together perfectly. I mean, everything! User Interface, Characters, Environment, everything! The music was blaring loud, but if adjusted would probably be good for the game pace. The controls seemed intuitive. I was able to jump in and start playing immediately. This is a nice entry for the game jam. I wish you the best of luck! :)

This game was great. I got to wave 6 a couple times but couldn't advance any further than that. Everything just felt so natural and intuitive, from the movement to being able to pick up a turtle by throwing your shield at him. Plus the baby turtles were too cute, I was legitimately upset when they got killed.

22. Apr 2020 · 04:37 UTC
What a game! So much polish, and really well balanced. I really enjoyed the music, animation and diversity of the enemy types. Throwing the shield was very satisfying and tuned well enough that as the levels progressed, it wasn't the tool for every job. I found myself switching strategies to the shield to avoid losing turtles, which made me appreciate the thought put into the dynamics and difficulty curve. Such an excellent design balance, I'm really glad I played this game. Thanks for sharing, and best of luck with your results!

As a huge fan of TMNT, this made me feel like the fifth ninja turtle! The shell-throwing was super creative and reminded me a bit of God of War's Leviathan axe because it hits on the way back. The graphics were super cute, and the mood of the game fit really well. The difficulty increased rapidly, which I think was great. This game was definitely one of the best I've played in this jam. I cannot begin to express how polished, how well executed this game is - I feel like I am playing something that can be in WarioWare or Mario Party. I feel like I need to leave some sort of constructive criticism but I got nothing, amazingly executed.

This is a very well-rounded game here! Nothing unnecessary and straight to the point, but what it does have it does well. The style of the graphics is very consistent and the audio fits perfectly with the visual theme of the game. It reminds me a lot of the kind of game you'd see on Newgrounds back in the day.

Gameplay-wise the difficulty ramps up at a decent pace. I found it to be slightly on the fast-paced side, but nothing unreasonable. I liked that the enemies telegraph their actions somewhat, but felt that it wasn't always obvious at which point exactly they'd actually do damage.

The funny thing is, I feel like there's not much else to say since it's so well rounded. Things _work_ and it's enjoyable, and there's not much wrong with it. I guess if there was one thing I'd still like (aside from addressing my previous points), is some more replay-ability. Getting a higher score is nice, but some outer progression loop (getting an upgrade, unlocking a new area, etc.) would really take it to the next level. Totally unreasonable expectation for a game jam, I know, but I feel like I gotta mention it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice job though.

The pixel art was beautiful, and the audio! wow that was Impressive! super enjoyable to hear. The game was challenging at first, but it became easy after realizing that you can pick up as many turtles as you want before leading them to the ocean. It would have been nice if you have added some kind of very small weight to Turtle Daddy with each turtle you carry making it a little more challenging. Overall, awesome entry! super Fun to play.

Yeah, we were struggling to find a way to encourage the player to deliver the babies rather than hold onto all of them while still keeping it fun. Perhaps when we build on the game more, we can implement some kind of more robust system for it.

Aweome work! It took several tries to get the hang of it, but after getting used to the mechanics, it was a lot of fun! The art is awesome and the music is excellent. This was really fun and difficult! Also, hilarious concept, love your creative take on the theme. When I learned that you can throw your shield to pick up the turtle babies, I got way better at the game. I ended up trying to cheese the game by camping on the left side of the screen and throwing my shell vertically on the screen repeatedly to collect my babies as soon as they hatched, basically ignoring all the enemies. This didn't work as well as I'd hoped, as the crabs, though they kept their distance, acted as a shield against the oncoming ink projectiles and seagulls, until they could get right on the spawn points and I'd have basically no time to react. That's some really impressive anti-cheese design! The design of the game really encourages you to play in a fun way, which is what I'm most impressed by. The in-game tips are a nice touch, they really helped me improve by providing critical game knowledge in between attempts. Great work, can't wait to see what y'all make next!

I also think the shield range should be bigger, I had to stay in the middle of the turtle spawner just to get in time to save them, so I couldn't deliver them to the sea, I just had to wait till I had all of them collected to go to the sea, which seems like cheating to me ^^

I couldn't get past wave five, great job with the the nice captain america style shield flinging. High marks for music and gfx. Really loved the militiary parade style music, and the animations / art style was spot on.

Very nice and polished game! The graphics and music are just really great and fun.

I basically camped by the baby turtle spawn points until I had enough turtles - this got me fairly far but eventually got to be too much. When restarting the initial parts are a bit slow - this is a tough problem to solve in general, but maybe some scoring system would work?
