We didn't want to politicize Ludum Dare, but the theme and timing were too critical to pass over. We are a team of ethic Armenian's spread across the world and our homeland is under attack.

For close to 30 years now Armenia and Azerbaijan have been locked in an endless war over Nagarno-Karabakh (or Artsakh as we call it). This tiny sliver of land is historically Armenian and has always been inhabited by an Armenian majority. During the USSR it was gifted to Azerbaijan to improve relations. With aid from Turkey, the ongoing war is the worst fighting seen since the first one.

This fight is not a fight for land or resources, but one for survival. In 1915 Ottoman Turkey began pogroms against native Armenians that turned into a full fledged genocide of over 1.5 million people. This genocide is denied to this day by many countries around the world.

Each time fighting breaks out with one of our neighbors, the ghost of the Ottoman empire looms over. We fear a repeat of the past if the world does not speak up.

All we ask from you is to help in whatever way you can. Be it spreading the word, talking to a friend, donating, writing to your representatives in government.

We don’t want war. We don’t want power. We just want to live in peace.
