Protect the Caravan by Deamonus

[raw]
made by Deamonus for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

It's been a while since i've solo jammed, and i'm rather proud of the simple thing i managed to squeeze out. After several issues and bugs that took away dev-time i'm happy to say, i actually got it finished! I used several assets from the unreal market and some assets i got from other places, therefor i marked the graphics and audio down.

Well without further ado i'm excited to present :

Protect the caravan is a simple twin stick shooter inspired game. You the player are a drone flying around, trying to take out the enemies, before they get to take you or the emergency medical supply truck out.

The drone is controlled with either a controller or the keyboard. Movement is controlled by either the left thumbstick or the WASD keys on the keyboard. Shooting is done by moving the right thumbstick to a direction or the arrow keys on the keyboard and the drone will shoot in that direction. The drone can deploy shields in front of it that will take a few shots before failing by pressing either the X(or square) button on the controller, or the Q key on the keyboard!

The supply truck will stop on occasion to wait for the player to remove a distant threat.

Enjoy !

Just for a comparison: I made a GameBoy game this ludumdare, the gba rom file is 61kb your compressed project is 556.95mb = 556950 kb. So the average game size has apparently grown in the past 20 year by 9000 times. (There is probably something in unity you can change to make it a little bit smaller.) But from the text I got that you had fun making it and that is the most important part.

hard game but good enough feedback. maybe want he healthbar above the medic. like the double implemenation. protect a medic who also saves life's. odd control choice on shooting direction. but has it's advantages too. Keep it Up:).

Liked the lowpoly style of the game and had fun while play however it is quiet annoying that a flying drone can't fly over a road vehicle. Overall a nice game.

Neat game, needs a little bit more polish, but I still had fun with it

This was a very unique way to approach the theme! I think the visuals and the music fit really well together and made it feel like an arcade game. One thing I think could be improved on is the player movement, it didn't feel very much like an actual plane, maybe if it was constantly moving forward and you could steer it it might have been more fluid!

Had difficulty understanding when the medic died. Sometimes I got the deathscreen but continued at the same place after a short time.

nice little game :) war theme and camera angle reminded me of CoD zombie bonus mini game.
only downside is dowload time versus playing time ratio :x
