Ribbon by blobo
You've become trapped in a loop of ribbon! Luckily, you're still going to be able to move the ribbon if you can cut it in half. Using a rather powerful pair of scissors should do the trick!
Controls:
A and D to move left and right.
The mouse to interact with the world, pick up items, or cut the ribbon.
W and S to steer the ribbon while also moving left or right
It's a bit confusing at first, but to move the ribbon 'up' and 'down' you still need to be holding right or left.

In case you didn't read the controls, they're a bit less intuitive than I initially thought, so I explain it a bit better up there.

My girlfriend loved it so much !
I only wished it was a little bit longer, because when I got the "ow ok I got the idea" feeling, it was ~3 seconds before the end :p. But hey, I wouldn't even know where to begin myself to implement that mechanic, so hats off!
Only feedback is W/S don't really move up/down as the prompt says, instead they steer the ribbon. That took me a moment to grasp. Once I got it though, it was great fun flying around on the ribbon. **highly innovative** and works great with the theme. Highly recommend!
I also really liked the humor in the orc becoming friendly after a stab in the heart :P violence makes everyone reasonable :nerd:
Really good entry and like I said, impressive compo. Easy 5.
My only slight problem would be the controls but you get used to them.
Nice work
And when I try to run game in windowed mode - game starts in full screen.
a great idea combined with an amazing art style and music
you really should expand it and release it officially.
It's always great to see a new and innovative concept. That said, I don't think it would translate well into a full game because of how weird it feels.
i loved the concept
make more levels and if camera could move up and down i'm just saying

+nice graphics
good work!
The art is very well done, so cute, everything very well polished with animations and particles!
The music is excellent too, very lively and matches the game.
The mechanics of the tape and walking around with it by cutting the level is mindblowing, I am very impressed that you managed to implement it in such a short time! And it works very well, without any bugs!
When I looked at the theme, I already knew that many games would implement it in a very frustrating way, like making you lose progression by looping you back in time. But you managed to implement something that fits the theme perfectly and also is very fun and rewarding, great job!!
The only problem is that the game ends too quickly hahaha, I wanted to play more!!
Awesome game!!
I managed to finish it (or die?), not entirely sure how.
If you find the time, I think the ideas this game is based on should be explored further.
Would be great if you add some more levels please! :D
The only downside is that it is so short. I was instantly hooked and wanted to do a lot more with the idea. Very inventive and superbly executed for a Ludum Dare entry. Great Job!
The graphics are amazing, the music is great and the movement of the ribbon is incredibly smooth. Considering it was a compo entry, I really am blown away by this entry. 5/5
What can I say? Good job and definitely don't let this prototype go to waste!
Loved this girl btw, she so cute.
It's a shame that it's so short, I'm really hoping that you release a post-compo version with more levels/puzzles.
The mechanic of moving the ribbon is as you say a bit weird to get used to, especially the scissors part, but with a little bit of effort it could be easily explained, you need just a bit to get used to it!
I really liked how original it is, I'm sad though that it is more of a concept, and it's true potential is not shown (and it HAS a lot of potential).
I can see this expanded into a complete game where this ribbon mechanic is used in a deeper and more interesting way!
I've seen now it is a compo game, so to be honest you did way more than enough, the polish is incredible, I just hoped to see that mechanic used a bit more but I can understand that in 48 hours it can be a problem, and you did a lot of work.
It also has a bit of funny vibes with the knife part.
Overall, this is an amazing work and one of the best game I've played in this LD, also considering jam entries!
You got something here.
One of the most original mechanics in the JAM.
Great and cute graphics, the coordinated movement of the character and the ribbon is incredible.
I hope you develop the complete version.
Congrats! 5 stars.
As for the game, seeing as how it's compo, im very impressed. You managed to make great art, complicated player controller AND music. One thing that i will remember for a long time with this game was the door opening and closing when you run past it. You made sure that the ribbon had an animated world within it, very good attention to detail.
You should definitely build more levels and release this on steam, i'll buy it for sure.
The dynamic music is very nice. I suspect it would perhaps get monotonous, but the game is too short for me to notice repetitive music.
Contrary to the public opinion, I thought the controls are very intuitive. I didn't even read the description part about controls, and after a few seconds of trial and errors I got the gist of it.
"You cannot be this good!"......"Alright, you may be this good."...\***unalives**\*
I thought that I'm a bit too harsh on the rating, but not on your game.
This is the only game on jam/compo (perhaps ever) that made me say "noooo I want to play more!" out loud when it was over.
But all in all, top notch!
The uniquene mechanic feels good to control after just a few seconds, everything is clear and works well, the adaptive music is perfect, and omg this is beautiful.
I guess the only way this could have been even better is with a bit more audio feedback (on actions and on the unlocking of the last door).
You are very very talented, I hope some day I can do something as good!
