Looped Fellas by BukkakeTears

Game about pointless running in the wheel. Or maybe there is something more?
Imagine the near, dystopian future where advanced AI took control of the world (or were they reptilians?). Man's role has been reduced to eating his own excrement and spending his whole life as and power supply.
Generation after generation, they devote their lives to a pointless suffering loop, that madness seems to have no end.
Welcome on board, make yourself comfortable and have fun!
Short How To Play
To make wheel spin faster, click on your character when he is over lighter (cyan like color) part of the wheel. This is a part of game which should be obvious, but might not be. The rest is up to you guys, happy, and boring, running is waiting!
Ok, maybe also stats: 1. Strength/Endurance - determines how fast you run out from energy 2. Speed - determines how fast can you go (be careful, the faster you are, the more energy you use) 3. Resistance - reduces damage from various sources - falling, lighting etc.
Apart from the fact that it may not be obvious at the beginning, the game even has two different endings. :D
Estimated gameplay time would be something from 3 - 10 minutes, but it depends on your sanity.

Updates log:
- 10/5/2020 - Fixed problem with displaying statistic values and with click not being counted as correct/incorrect in some situations

My only problem was the control. I think that the mouse maybe wasn't the right choice? The feedback also wasn't very clear; sometimes I clicked and nothing happened (is there a cooldown?), sometimes I could've sworn I was on the highlighted part and I still fell down.
Overall great job, that was just my one nitpick :)
It was 100% not obvious that i had to click when the character was over the lighter part of the wheel!
i thought I had to press all the stats and buttons. Only after going back and reading the "how to play" (which i never do out of conviction) did i understand!
i reached one ending, but i dont know why!
The audio and art are great, but i think this game doesnt communicate itself very well. To you, as the developer, it is obvious how stuff works, but I had a very hard time understanding anything!
Overall a great jam game though :))
Oh yes, I really regret that I did not add training and I did not limit myself to "Push space" to speed up.
Please, check a **Short How To Play**. In a terms of cooldown there is one, very small to prevent player from spamming mouse clicks. You should be able to click and speed up on every cyan field.
@stuffed-wombat
You are right about lack of information. But as a part of experience, I wanted to make player a little bit lost, like a child dropped into running wheel in a dark factory. At the beginning you don't know that to do, but after few lighting shocks you get the idea.
Thanks for opinion guys!
So I bet that you got the "bad" ending, as it is the only one that you can get by just being idle. :smirk:
the game is confusing, but it's the part i also like - thanks for the guide as well.
Liked a lot that it is kind of a reality show, they even give us shit to eat! hahaha
Thanks for the game.
I'm very bad at rythem and timing though so I didn't manage to get the good ending I think.
Had to read how to play but after that it was good :)
I wish I had this much talent, and all of that in just 48 hours! man, I'm impressed. At the beginning I had problems with the mechanics, I kept clicking and the character dropped without stopping ... (you know, that little problem of not reading the instructions ...), after reading, everything became clear. Simple and interesting gameplay, it fits very well with the universe you created. Excellent submission.
Awesome execution of the main theme.
Great humor. I just noticed the writings inside the wheel :D
Had a great time playing it. Thank you.
I'm usually inspired by Evgeny Viitman for my artwork. I like his dirty style connected with Adventure Time goofiness. Make sure to check it out, this guy rocks.
@meek-bits
So now you know my deepest secret. I really love Capybaras, they are friend-shaped. But don't get fooled, alpacas are also really cool (and soft).
@all
Thanks for feedback guys!
Thanks again, to you and everyone else, for feedback!
Quite fun and simple
At first i didn`t got, when should i click, may be a little green glow should help
Is there any difference in food types?
Fact is that it is really well done and the char design is so funny.
First though; Visuals are A+, 5 stars
Gameplay: What do I do? Uh... I guess I have to read the description.... Okay rules are in the description.... I personally don't like it when the game itself doesn't explain how to play.
Critical Feedback: I think you could have skipped the stat system and spent a little more time on presenting the game rules to the player for a more "complete" experience.
You could have had a shadowy figure explain it. Maybe let the player try to figure it out, and then have an shadowy observer make a mean joke like "Why isn't he clicking on the lighter parts of the wheel?"
IF you want to keep it simple, just put the text on the screen at for the first few clicks; "click on your character when he is over lighter (cyan like color) part of the wheel".
Humor: They're making em eat poop? lol
Overall: Good job!
- Detailed and fitting sprites
- Atmospheric audio design
- Good gameplay
- Progressive
- Stuck for ever in a loop

@arad-hamidsamiee In fact, there are two ways to escape. Just be a lazy, fat kid and wait for power to drop to 0%. Or, like @remzo said: gotta go fast!
Your idea with shadow guys joking about player is great!
"Hehe, he is nr 4 and he still doesn't now that he need to press on lighter part of the wheel"
But it is also an experience for me, for the future game jams - spend some more time on user experience and don't expect players to came up with everything by themselves. It is okey to help them a little.
Gameplay wise, the end got a little hard on my mouse though, it was running too fast for me to click. Also, I wasn't sure what the stats and health bar and energy bar were for, I just concentrated on clicking on the wheel.
The concept is really interesting too. I liked it.
I would love to see some more of your art, do you have an artstation or an instagram account?
@jusw85 Yup, you are right, some people already pointed that game itself doesn't communicate gameplay mechanics very well. Somehow it was planned, because I wanted to make player feel lost. But it turned out to not be the best decision at all. But if you managed to get good ending, congratz.
@croxel-studios Nope, I'm creating graphics only for my games, and I don't feel like I need to create any.
@mykola If you don't know how to get specified ending I think that it is fine. I mean, you need to think outside the box (outside the loop, hehe), play against AI which tells you to slow down. If not, then you will be stuck in a loop forever. That's the point.
If you spam the click you can scroll the screen up and down quite a bit because of how the camera shake works (at some point I could only see half of the wheel). What does the Speed Up pannel say when its up? Thanks Ry- something? Was funny to find :)
interesting game tho.
Anyway well done, for compo it's incredible result. And for sure the art style is amazing!
@zombiebust3r Nasty bug you found here. I think that it was "Thanks, bye!".
@lombax Yea, it is a common problem with my game. You should check game description, but as I mentioned before - I shouldn't make player to read some extra text outside my game. My bad, but thanks for playing!
@erlioniel You are right, but at this point I'm 100% aware that I should put some ingame tutorial.
It is a nice lesson for the future game jams - spend some extra hours on user experience, not only on your "artistic" vision.
Thanks for feedback everyone!
and very smart idea about stuck in a loop concept like matrix movie. i mean thats very wise. ' my game is also the same concept'
The eating sound effect... can't get the image out of my head.
Overall Great Game Though 10/10.
Amazingly well done! Congratulations!
