What a great submission, well done! The music, graphics and theme were all excellent. I loved how deep the mechanics were for throwing the wasps, so many little details that work so well! My only critique would be the control scheme. I personally like WASD based controls (and that is the current norm for pc), so an option for them would've been nice. Other than that great work!

A fun concept, but a bit overwhelming with only being able to carry one wasp at a time. The graphics are great, and the enemy being the sustenance is a unique thing that I've seen so far.

I tried the HTML version (I'm on Linux) but it kept saying "Loading game for the first time...".
Nice screenshots though, maybe I'll try again later as I'd like to test your game

I really liked this game. only improve i have is to slow the character down when he's jumping because it will make platforming and grabbing bees easier. Great animation and good idea, basically strong entry overall

The game looks neat but unfortunately I cannot play it on web (not loading) and on windows unzipping complains about pck headers :(

I liked the game and the fact that it required a particular strategy to beat. Graphic is very good, the controls are a bit weird. I feel it needs an actual end tho

The web version didn't want to load at all (Windows 10, Firefox), it was just stick on "Loading game for the first time..." forever.

I liked the Oookie - he is like a giant turtle :). Jumping with Z felt strange though, I kept wanting to press space instead.

I wish I could've played this game! It looks really cool from the screenshots. However, the game didn't seem to want to unzip correctly which made the exe not launch (error messages below).![Capture1.PNG](///raw/85c/11/z/31e57.png)![Capture2.PNG](///raw/85c/11/z/31e58.png)

Very solid entry, this is the first LD46 game I've tried so far and what a lovely way to begin!

Polished and great attention to detail. I love the little choices like allowing you to hit bees with other bees, the fact that there's a trade-off between just throwing bees away and taking the time to use them as food, the panning of the bee noises (which was REALLY helpful, and often even more useful than the arrows) and the occasional requirement to break a thorn bush to change up my priorities from time to time and keep things fresh. Super well thought out. Generally also just a very nice looking and sounding game. Realising that the entire platformer was a moving object was a lovely surprise too.

Constructive criticisms - jumping while holding down currently makes the player jump, I got screwed by my platforming instincts a few times. I think jumping while holding down should drop you off a platform, more in line with other platforming control schemes. A little more of an ending would be cool, but that's a classic LD curse given the timeframe! (I can also confirm that the web version gets stuck in loading hell, but the Windows download seems totally bug free.)

Thanks for the submission, I really enjoyed this.

Wow! That was really well polished and I had fun playing. Graphics and music are top notch as well. Overall a very nice game. The only gripe I have is with the grabbing of the wasps while jumping. That felt a bit janky.
Otherwise great work!

Web version doesn't work for me, it stays loading forever:
![ookie.PNG](///raw/7be/d2/z/31e81.png)

I downloaded it and played it, and I like the art and music, and the concept is pretty cool.

But I have to complain about jump, it's way too fast. It should be slower or smoother, but feels like you go up a lot in no time, so it's annoying to control.

Overall it was enjoyable and fun, thanks a lot!

The graphics and music are amazing! I like how you see arrows when a new wasp appear or an obstacle before Ookie, it helps you to notice what you need to do. I feel it would be better to enable space for jumping, for me jumping using Z felt strange.

@brusi nice thank for fixing it! it was worth it as I enjoyed the game!

Graphics are very well done, the Ookie is very likable I dont want it do die :(
Music is excellent! It add quite a lot to the mood of the game.
Using x was a bit weird at first for me, I ve thrown quite a bunch of wasp at first with my brain trying to understand it, probably a problem with me anyway ;) Also the jump feels weird to me, probably because it's a very big jump and it is not something usual, but from the game scene layout it makes sense

Everything works great, I havent found any problems, a very well made entry overall, congrats to the team!

Solid game with polished mechanics. I like the way that the camera is dynamic, but you know what's happening offscreen through indicators. Being used to WASD, the controls feel awkward, especially on a German keyboard (Y and Z keys switched).

I really loved the music, it reminded me the Crash Bandicoot OST, that's pretty coool !
Otherwise, concept wise, it was fun and original ! The pixel art level is very nice !

However, I found game a bit hard for me, and the movement a bit too quick, indeed, I fell too many times because of the speedness of the character movement.

Overall, very nice work !

Really fun game, based on an original concept. I really loved the idea of a moving giant carrying platforms, à-la Xenoblade / Shadow of the Colossus. The art stylr and the audio are retty strong, too !

Strengths
- Original premise, coupled with a nice lvel design
- Great art/sound package
- Tight controls never get in the way

Possible improvements
- Make an easy mode, with a faster Ookie and less wasps.

All in all, great job !

Thanks for the updated web version. It works now

Really good gameplay, idea as well as aesthetic.
My biggest issue is the difficulty to catch the wasps while jumping meaning that some are sometimes hard to reach. That combined with the difficulty due to the amount of wasp spawning, sometimes really far, meant that I didn't manage to finish the game but still enjoyed it a lot.

Well done !

Edit : I forgot to add it but the tutorial is really good !

The pixel art was amazing. The audio as well was on par and was rather funny as well i.e the sounds for when the wasps were thrown towards each other and when Okie ate them. I felt that Okie's health kind of deteriorated a little too quickly, but still, it was an amazing game none the less.

Nicely done here. Nice pixel art. Nice game idea. The jumping was kinda odd at first, but you get used to it. It's kinda similar to my game (but I promise I'm not trolling for votes.)

Love the idea of a moving level that is an ancient creature. Good job!

Only aesthetic change I would suggest would be to have something less annoying than the wasp sound, I know they're sound like that in real life, but we're genetically predisposed to hate it them. That's a very small change, as the audio is very well done, I was playing with headphones and was able to hear in stereo where they landed.

Really great artwork and design, the choice of colors was great for making each character stand out. Good job!

Awesome game! the feel of the jumping is a bit too much for me, i felt at times I wasn't in control of the character. I love the art and the overall aesthetic, even more so that it reminds me of shadow of the colossus! I would turn the sound fx down significantly though. I would totally play games like this outside of the jam, but there would need to be a lot more content, but this is such a good start I'd hate to see it not pursued further! I would say completely forget the 'keep it alive' theme, and turn this into an epic story of a warrior and his over-sized companion setting out for an epic adventure!

Art direction was great and the game is overall really good.

But a more traditional platformer control would have been nice (like space to jump 'e' to grab bees or something) or even the option to change the keybindings.

Gorgeous design work. Took me a minute to figure out that I wasn't supposed to just exclusively feed wasps to the Ookie, and that throwing them away/at each other was also an option, but overall the gameplay was both fun and intuitive. You guys did a great job.

All can be accomplished through wasps.
The music really set the vibe. You did a really good job limiting the amount of art assets you needed so you could focus on quality.
I kept pressing space to jump and throwing wasps accidentally.
If possible I would make it so if you press jump within like 0.2 seconds of leaving a platform it still lets you jump. That tends to improve the feel of platformers.
Well done!

That's a very pretty game, and the Mount itself has some mystery to it that I feel like knowing.
Maybe, you could learn more by keeping it alive for a longer time?

Wasps do not seem like they pose a threat to the mountain, and you don't see its death, it's breaking immersion a bit - maybe you could show it too?

Controls are feeling rather smooth and fair, that's very good
The audio felt right in place too

So, enjoyed it quite a bit! Thanks!

Yeah, so, basically, this is Shadow of the Colossus but we're a cool guy ^^
Very nice entry mates. The only thing we could argue is that everything needed to win is not explained to the player (aka the ability to throw wasps not only in the mouth of Ookie or tree but - most importantly - on other wasps). It took me 3 retries to get it (by mistake) and one more to master this and win the game.
But definitely the premise of playing a SotC upside down where we have to help those colossi is super fun :) Could be a real game too.
Oh yeah, and maybe the plateforming could felt a bit random (like, what was the idea behind the platforms placement? but that's nit-picking).
Great game :)

This is a very well designed game with a great concept. Knocking out wasps by throwing the into each other was very fun and I think it has the right level of difficulty. The height of the jump made the platforming a bit awkward but I got used to it. Really nice job!

I really liked the experience, one of my best so far. I love the graphics and colors (nice palette choice) and the concept. It feels good to keep alive such a huge beast ! At first I didn't understand that the wasps were reducing the life of the ookie. But after losing I understood and I almost won. I will retry it later ! Well done !

Your pixel art is beautiful and it is an interesting game mechanic, to have the wasps as enemies, projectiles and health items. The only downside for me was, that the game gets very hetic. That doesn't fit the slow walking giant very well, either.

Really cool game, I was able to make it to the end at almost max health. It wasn't easy though, on my first attempt I got absolutely demolished by the wasps. I love how the game wasn't just a back and forth between the wasps and feeding, you had to throw wasps at other wasps and occasionally clear the path. It was a very strategic game, you had to kill quickly, but also keep its health up and keep moving. It was remarkably balanced and thought out, I love how the wasps had so many uses and the entire game revolved around the ways you interact with them. Overall a very well designed game! The graphics were also very nice, and the music too, all very masterfully crafted. Congrats team!

Great graphics and music, and the sound effect for the eating is hilarious, very classic. I love the concept in general, it's like a reverse Shadow of the Colossus. It's a very creative interpretation of the theme, one of the most creative entries I've played! Great job!

First of all, the beast looks amazing and I love the idea of a game centered around moving on a huge animal. The mechanics are also well put togheter, I especially liked how you can throw bees to hit other bees. Sometimes I tried to feed the beast and the wasp just went past, probably did it wrong though ahah. The controls seemed a bit too over-reactive at first, but I quickly got used to them. Overall really great game!

What a great game! The pixel art is amazing and gameplay felt polished throughout. I particularly like how you added pointers to wasps that were off screen, it was a nice touch that made the game feel great! The audio was a good fit and the eating sound made me laugh (It's a good fit, it just tickled me). The game fit the theme well and there was a nice balance between collecting wasps to feed ookie and using them to break obstacles. I really can't fault the game. It's a fantastic entry, well done! :D

Awesome!
- Points for using the lovely Godot
- Gorgeous art
- Loved the concept and the gameplay. Curiosuly enough, my game is also made with Godot and also is about a Mount waking up (but there is more that also wakes up in my game).
- Well, for it having gameplay I can already give positive points.

Well done.
