This is a true piece of art.
Suprising, Beautiful, emotional, engaging, frustrating.
I wanted more, but at the same time i am happy it is over.
i liked the gameplay a lot. The hardest for me were the cars... I didnt see the shadows going by in the first time (and second, and third...) , but after that, I was feeling like a worried chicken mom, but a good one. Awesome game!
Well done !
Great game btw!
Glad you all like it, thank you for the kind words.
Animaster > yeah we did what we could in the time we had (I was working simultaneaously on 2 other freelance jobs), but we'll be making a proper long version of the game and we'll have plenty of different obstacles then (yes, even moving ones), I promise :) As a matter of fact I'll be starting working on the longer version as soon as tomorrow :)... Excitiiing!!!
Sound effects were great too! :D Sound spatiality did feel a bit weird at times.
Many times I tried to get the last chicken over the road, but the car incoming was very unpredictable, so you could never feel like you have any impact on this.
After some trials I've got over to meet yet another track where my little stupid chicken would get immediately slaughtered...
I think it's an interesting idea and the graphics/video/atmosphere are really good, but found it hard to pass though.
Maybe, some tutorial would help?
Nonethless, good job!
Graphics are really on point, and mood is powerful.
It was a bit too hard for my taste to direct the birds, and a bit hard as well to predict when the cars would cross the road. Maybe so preventing sign like the lights of the car would have helped!
Anyway great job guys!
But yeah, I really liked the game.
- The graphics are really nice, in a weird cute but kinda postapocalyptic way that works really well,
- the audio just reinforces the overall feeling of the game (some games have audio, animation or theme that are jarringly different from the graphics (like Limbo, or Happy Tree Friends), and sometimes it works really well, but yours does the opposite, where audio and graphics work hand in hand, and it works really well)
- the gameplay itself was also original and interesting and fun (even if it broke my heart several times :( )
- and I really liked the autosave feature :D
* is it on purpose that every chicken except one dies at the first street?
* the mother cant be killed by cars?
- or I didn't get that far :D - superhard game^^ - well done
We just started a Devlog on the making of the game and also the making of the real game/longer/better version of it on which we'e working as we speak.
You can come visit the devlog here any time to see what we're up to:

Nachodl > The sounds, yeah we'll fix that by using a lot more of them so it will not repeat as often, same for the music which will be extended and refined.
Nolafa > Ahaha yes, it's a heart breaker... and it's going to get WAY worse with the longer version we're working on.
Ekilibr > The car thing, which I love cau's it's just brutal will be clarified... It'll still be brutal, but easier to understand at least :)
Sorko > thanks, yeah he sound spatiality...I had a hard time with it at the begining but it's growing on me... it might get to have a purpose later, we'll see...
But, I did take the time to explore the map without the little chick, and honestly the game has a really nice mood and atmosphere. The graphics really add to it as well. It's just a shame I couldn't get the hang of the chick's controls, I'd love to experience everything properly!
Really great job regardless though!
it's super hard to play, but well done :)
I was at first unable to pass the first road (after I lose all but one) for many tries. I was at the verge of giving up. But I'm glad I was finally able to go thru and reach the end.
Keep up the good work.
PS. your car sound is amazing LOL

Moreover, you chose the right control scheme for the game: the chick obeys your orders but his moves are a bit unpredictable at the same time, which gives me a feeling of constant tension. Graphics and sound are just perfect to create that crude atmosphere.
Can't wait to play the extended version. You did an amazing work guys, congratulations!
P.S. We've also made a game about human impact on animal life, but with a very different approach. We'd be happy to hear your thoughts.
Pretty melancholic but yet funny at some times. Well done!
Congratulations for the game!

Art is just amazing, am stunned. At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to protect the chick, so I went on by myself just to admire the scenery. The sounds are fantastic, probably my second favorite thing in the game, after the pixel art. "Piou!"
The cartoony, *a capella* sound effects kinda detract from the general dark tone, especially as the surroundings grow gloomier over time. The result is this odd contrast where you have cartoony birds walking through forest fires and pools of battery acid while chirping merrily. I guess it adds to the innocence of the chick that you're trying to save... poor thing just doesn't comprehend the dangers around it...
A beautiful and haunting experience. I may have to check out the full-length version, though I do have to wonder how long the gameplay can last without getting stale.
I wasn't fast enough to get past the tyre tracks to get to the other parts, but great job on the graphics and unique mechanic. It already sounds like you guys are working on this post-jam, so looking forward to seeing more levels.
