Welcome to Uballto, a Linux distribution for...distributing balls. That's right, in this desktop environment, dialog windows are used to guide balls to their target flags. Do you have the technical wits to master this distro?

Made by one individual (and a lot of royalty-free assets).

Controls:

  • Played entirely with the mouse.
  • Tap ESC will also open the menu as well.

Logs:

| Version | For Judging? | Date | Description | |--- |--- |--- |--- | | v1.1.0 | No, Post-Jam | 10/10 | Adding support for screen resizing (more for web-builds), all screen resolutions, level name appearing on the menu, and potentially some performance improvements. | | v1.0.1 | Yes, Bug Fix | 10/10 | Fixing the menu to have level 9 unlocked by default. Also added support to 16:9 and 16:10 screen resolutions (which involves just checking 2 checkboxes in Unity) | | v1.0 | Yes | 10/7 | Increased the number of levels from 3 to 9 before the Jam deadline. | | v0.1 | Yes | 10/6 | Initial upload. |

Notes:

  • 10/7 - Tripled the number of levels before the Jam deadline. Enjoy!
  • 10/6 - Submitting this early due to a very busy schedule on Monday. In theory, though, I should be able to fit in more levels and game mechanics before the jam deadline. Stay tuned!

I love the base mechanic and some of the puzzles were pretty clever! I think the physics are a bit jank at times but that's fine. I'd love to see some more content, there's a lot of interesting level ideas that could be added.

One idea for improving the game might be to make the walls transparent so you can see what the level layout looks like!

I liked the presentation and concept behind this game. (the menus were really nice, great UX). I thought the sound was really well implemented and the systems themselves were solid. I struggle a little bit with how to get around the anxiety of not having much agency as a player. I'd like to see this concept refined a little bit more. Great entry. Thanks for the game :)

Stunning game and amazing concept. The only other time I've seen a revealing box used was in Cyan World's educational game, "Spelunx and the Caves of Mr. Seudo". Your use of the revealing box combined with physics and animation is really genius. Loved the sound effects as you progress. Some of the levels where you control a box were a bit too easy, since I could complete them with only the box menu (no base or water needed). The color scheme was also very appealing. I really hope you continue with this game.

I love that a great idea was combined with really cool level design and overall execution. The game somehow reminds me of old flash games, probably done on purpose by aesthetic. Very cool project!

I had a ball with this! :soccer: Another great entry - really impressive in terms of both concept and execution.

It seemed like there were multiple solutions for many of the levels, and finding my own approach felt rewarding. The design feels like it would lend itself well to having lots of optional hidden paths and Easter eggs. I would love to see the game expanded with additional types of environmental features.

very nice! Could see a lot of windows do different things, or having windows resize and do different things. Sometimes it felt a bit physics finicky but overall good exploration of the mechanics presented. Nice job!

This was probably the coolest game I've played all jam, super innovative, I adored it!
The way the audio worked too was a really cool touch, although it seemed to be a little buggy.
Fantastic design and presentation, excellent work!
I would love to see it expanded on, since there's a lot of potential for different window mechanics!

This is actually such an original idea and it's executed really well. The vapourwave aesthetics work great, and everything works together really well. I did notice some lag when dragging windows around in the web version but that's to be expected in a game jam entry. Overall I was really impressed not just by the execution but by the core idea itself. Great job!
