L.A.M.I.A by kenanmarasli

[raw]
made by kenanmarasli for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

In L.A.M.I.A (Laboratory of Anomalies and Mental Interference Activities), the place you work, you find out that they are doing unethical experiments on a baby. You later learn that the baby is your lost sister. So, you infiltrate the lab to start a rescue mission.

(We wanted to include features such as "baby abilities", and additional pick-up items for the baby, but ended up not having enough time. We hope you enjoy our game full of completely original assets all created in 72 hours!)

Programming - @Kenanmarasli

3D Modelling - @Elcinkillic, @panerebus

Audio/Music - @quait

Title theme - @quait & @Markus_77

In this game, we put you in a large lab environment and an endless swarm of enemies for you to kill.

Made with Unreal Engine 4.

You must download the entire game project folder. If you only download the executable, the game will not run

I was sadly unable to run the game. I even redownloaded but got the same error. This is the error I am getting, so it's something with Visual Studio:

This is on a laptop. Didn't try on my main PC.

Hah, the robots animations is very funny! I like the graphics, looks really impressive that you did it during the jam!

I think you need to change the color of the player and enemy projectiles to make them distinguished and not the same with main environment blocks like the orange roof.

Loved the animations and graphics, and it was fun that the projectiles bounced all over the place. Was hoping for a goal or conclusion, but this is a game jam so time is tight

I can't see how the theme fit into the game. Are you just keeping yourself alive? Because in that case, that's basically the premise of all action games, and I just don't think it's very creative.

A problem I see with a lot of jam games is that the gameplay loop is too monotonous. All you do here is shoot the robots, and continue shooting. If there were collectables, or something else to do, the game could be a lot more interesting.

@nnnikki, As my frst GameJam, I'm pretty happy with what we came up with, but I'm open to any feedback! So, this is true! keeping yourself alive is the premise of most action games. We wanted to have the game be keeping the "Baby Sister" alive, but we just didn't have enough time to work on those aspects, which we definitely were thinking about.

Thanks for reviews everyone. You need to download the entire project and then run the exe. And of course, this is a first for most of us so getting something playable out there is really the key point here.

Models and overall visual style are very good. I love these robots. Gameplay could be more deep. Nevertheless, good job!

Doesn't have too much to do with the theme - but impressive for a game jam all the same! Controls could be tightened up a bit, and it seemed like in a few places the enemies had trouble pathfinding, but great job all in all.

I hope it accepted my last minute rating. Fun game with nice artwork, good job all round. Only thing I'd say is bullets could be a bit smaller and faster. Good luck in the ratings
