My only complaint is that currently objects pop into screen quite suddenly. Even if this was for gameplay reasons, it should be smoothed up a bit I think.
A problem was that I could hit a single asteroid, and lose all engines on consecutive hits.
Also, if you change the near and far clipping values, you can avoid the asteroids appearing and disappearing suddenly.
Not sure what the point was for "Press I for instructions" when it only added 2 lines to the screen that could have just been there to begin with.
Fantastic for a first jam game though, I know the anxiety that brings! Heck this is only my second successful jam so I totally get the anxiety and the impatience for 20 ratings. Good luck!
overall solid though
Anyways good to hear you could play it.
@attx thanks a lot for the amazing feedback!
Some really smart artwork on the space craft! It ran resonably well, I was rather terrible at it :D A fun game x

Overall, a nice jam job!
@nithman will surely put alien spaceships for the suspense in the post-jam version and thanks a lot for the amazing feedback. Glad you like the star wars effect :D
@attala Glad you like the game. As for the controls, Unity gave me multiple error when I tried to change the rotation just on a single tap and not make it look jerky but I didn't know what to do with Quaternions, they really just went above my head. :disappointed:. Feeling proud that you like the Mars pop-up!!
Graphics were well made, but the pop-in made it look kinda janky. I'd suggest an alpha fade-in. And steering the ship would have felt better if the tilting animation was smoothed out instead of snapping back and forth. Also, improve the music in the post-jam version.
Otherwise pretty fun and just the right amount of play time.
I added your game in my video. Hope you like it!

Issues:
- Felt weird that at some point you can not move to the right or to the left in space - reaching bounds in a place that should not have bounds by it's very definition. Maybe, telling the player that it's too far from the course to Earth 2.0 and he should turn back would help?
- Asteroids spawning unpredictably everywhere. At some point I've got one spawned on top of my ship, which destroyed it instantly.
Keep it up!
**Note: The random spawning still persists in the first five seconds but then it is sorted out!Hope you all like the game now!!**
@attala will surely change it(just have to multiply speed by 2 and then it should be just perfect).
@randomhuman glad you liked it!!
Congrats!
@ditam glad you like the game! Hope the victory screen gave a Mars-y effect!!
- The sound is too loud and has very harsh frequencies! Maybe try to filter them out.
- I know the spaceship is supposed to have very indirect movememt due to space, but it just feels so uncontrollably vague that it kills a lot of the fun.
- Try to bind the animation (tilt) of the spaceship according to it's current sidewards speed, and not the speed that the player is pressing! Because as it is right now the spaceship will do some very weird animations when changing directions.
Keep up the great work!
On a playability front, when the planet appears in the distance it can be virtually impossible to notice any of the asteroids from then on against the dark blue background as they fade into the dark colour of the planet (this only happens on darker screens). I did eventuality win with 100 people left alive.
Definitely needs some polish to handle some of the gameplay issues that I've encountered. The minimalist audio works well with the space scene. While the gameplay area graphics are well polished some aspects of the UI could do with some additional work and polish.
I would recomend completely free lateral movement (Without this barrier)
For you to keep spawning stuff in front of the player you can calculate how far he can go sideways at any given time and use that as a spawner always locked to the player's position
But the game is really cool, the graphics looks good and everything snaps together really well...
Well done ^^
The Sounds of the Engines are a bit...annoying after a while.
But overall nice Game :)
The 3D graphics are very good quality, and I appreciate how you slow right down when you hit an asteroid, so you don't two lives in rapid succession. The engine sound was actually kinda relaxing, I didn't mind it, but it did cut out after a while. My other major piece of feedback would be to make Mars transition into view a lot slower and smoother, because right now it just kinda appears from nowhere when you're halfway there and it really breaks my suspension of disbelief.
For a first effort in a game jam, and in 3D to boot, this is a pretty good start. I hope to see you enter future jams!
Played the original and Post version. In both managed to save 100 out of 300 people... that's enough right? We don't need ~that~ many humans on mars I'm sure... XD
Cool retro vibe.
The Mechanics work very well. Unfortunately its hard to see where an asteroid is comming when the mars is in the background.
But overall a good Game.
Well Done
