Color me Blind by Re-Markable

[raw]
made by Re-Markable for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

In this game, the player walks through a colorless world, which they have to give color. The game is an abstract artwork about blindness. We were intrigued by the idea of blind people being unaware of what colors look like and tried to illustrate this in our game.

ColorMeBlindgif1Resized.gif

We dedicate our game to everyone who can't see the colors of the world (anymore).

What a nice artful game. The camera can bug out a bit when you walk behind trees, but otherwise the game is touching.

@abacus thank you so much! It’s a shame about the camera yeah, but we didn’t have time to fix that :(
Very happy to hear that you found it touching, that’s exactly our goal! ^^

Hi I loved your take on seeing the world with different eyes and creating your own reference for the world around you in terms on colours, however the theme part of the game feels a little bit out there, I would say in term of technical feedbacks you could just say the camera to be locked following the path of the player and ignore completely the mouse input hope that helps, keep creating and keep being awesome.

This concept was really cool, and the way it was all displayed was very powerful. I really liked the controls, and the game evoked a powerful emotion from me. Awesome job!

@el-fideo-rubio Thank you for your compliments! The locked path is actually a very good idea and would have made it look smoother, thank you!

A bit short, but ohh boi i loved it! i was really relaxing to walk the park pathway and watch objects pop left and right with nice squish... i would love to see more details like birds on trees flying near player, leaves falling on the ground etc.

Also camera is a bit buggy near the trees

@demuss Thank you so much for your feedback! I would have loved to add more props and maybe even animated birds, but sadly didn't have enough time :( Thanks for taking the time to play our game!!

Amazing concept, and well performed. simple and beautiful !
As others said, there was some weird camera controls, but nothing to worry about.
Good job !

If you walk straight to the end after getting the color ball, you can see the original colors of the items :smirk:

What a beautiful experience! The simple music, the art and slow movement really go well together. The camera could use some work cause it's a bit glitchy. Good job guys!

I saw a post about this the other day while I was finishing up my game, and I've got to say, it's really cool. I was imagining something a bit faster paced, but overall, it was a really cool experience to have!

@hartvichio thanks for playing our game! I usually tend to go for a more humourous game aswell, which was shown in our first idea for this jam. We wanted to created a game where the player starts off as a worm and has to work their way up the food chain by being eaten by a bigger animal repeatedly.

![WormTest_v1.gif](///raw/b66/c/z/28e64.gif)

It sounded like a lot of fun to make, but I'm glad we decided to write that idea off :)

Super neat idea! I've never seen mechanics like this before, and it was so peaceful and exciting to explore and bring life to this world. Great character design and animation too! Good job!

Interesting game. I really like the movement speed; it gives you time to appreciate the world you are coloring. The camera was a little difficult to control, but the payoff at the end was innovative and rewarding. Good job!

I really liked your game, fits perfectly in the theme, has really satifying gameplay and, most of all, it's so pretty! Really cool idea and very nice execution of it
Only camera works could use some polishing, but it didn't impact the overall experiance, which was great!

I like the idea, and the approach of choosing different colors for objects. Also the character design/animation is quite nice. The music is great!
I'm not to keen on the sound effect of object popping up, it felt out of place with the music. More importantly, it seems like the camera is colliding with the environment (except with the obelisk at the end) which creates some buggy jerky motion?

This resembles more art than game (in a good way). I miss there is no running mechanic or more content. Also the game might have crashed on me when I tried to exit it :frowning2: Overall a nice game.

Superb idea, loved the cell-shading at first, I was waiting for the elements to stay that color when I choose it, instead it was a filter on a texture. it was not what I expected but it was ok too.

The music was great too. Could have been a bit enhanced (some reverb effect here and there, basslines, etc) but it worked perfectly jsut like that.

Really liked you game guys.

I think I love games that let us be creative ^^

@pl4typus Thank you so much! I understand the textures weren’t what you expected at first but without them, there would have been very little work for me as artist haha :)
Also, thanks for the feedback on the soundtrack, I usually never do anything music-wise, so any feedback is welcome!
Glad you liked it!
