Möbi's Trip by Jack LeFevre

[raw]
made by Jack LeFevre for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

Möbi the slime lives in a Möbius strip. Her world is twisted loop - if she goes too far one way, she'll find she's back at her starting point, but upside down!

Help Möbi travel through ten puzzle levels, and try for a best time on the online leaderboard!

The linked itch.io page has an embedded HTML5 version and a downloadable version. The HTML5 version has lower quality and is prone to graphical glitches, so please try the downloadable version if you have any trouble!

I used the Godot game engine to create the game. The scoreboard service is hosted by SilentWolf.

This is really good. Nice use of the theme, well through through levels, art etc. You should be very proud of this.

Super good game! The theme was used to absolute perfection and the level design and transitions were flawless. I was sure that you had just made a super long reapeating map until I saw boxes and clouds upside down. The art was also wonderful. Brilliant work.

This game was really fun! I loved that you could execute some of the levels in multiple ways! The leader board does a wonderful job giving the game replay value. The sound effects of the slime are very entertaining and the movement feels great. Good job, I have no complaints, I only ask that you continue to work on this game because I think it has great potential.

This is a super clever twist on the pun-of-a-name, and is aptly related to the theme! Excellent job, and great use of simple tools to complete an entire game experience.

Eternal glory is mine, am the first place of the first level. Really cool concept and twist to the mobius trip idea. I think i didn't founded any of the secret shortcuts but still it was a lot of fun to beat all the ten levels and get the WR in level 1.

Really cool game, especially for the Compo!

On the first level I was thinking "why is there an upside down flag?", then understood on the second level: awesome idea! (The title was a give away, but I don't know why I didn't make the connection).

The leaderboard is a really nice touch! I hadn't heard of SilentWolf before, it looks really cool! (I also use Godot.)
The ranking really adds an extra layer of fun, and pushed me to find the level 9 exploit and retry the levels to finish them as soon as possible. And I managed to achieve my goal: be 1rst in a level \o/ (It is level 6.)

I hope it will last forever, but we are just at the beginning of the ranking phase, so I am not very confident.

As said in the beginning, good gameplay idea, and very well executed. I was not confident after understanding your core concept that you would be able to create different interesting levels, put you were able to pull it off and prove me wrong.

The control were fine. Happy to see a jump of variable height! But it didn't seem to have Coyote-time (allowing the player to jump for a short frame after leaving the ground), and pushing the volley-ball when trying to jump on it was a little annoying.

And a small personal note: the title screen was really well made and gave a good first impression.

All in all, great game, and I'm excited to see your next projects! :)

Woaaaah this game really lives up to the name, it really was trippy! I wasn't sure what was happening at first but then I realized just how seamlessly the world wrapping was happening! Very cool concept, and well executed. Great job! And I always love online leaderboards, very impressive you managed to fit them into a jam game

Juicy slime! Polish! Pseudo-3D! High scores! Fun and interesting levels! A bit of music or ambient sound for the game would be great. This is one of my favourite games so far and I can really see it being expanded :) The leaderboard led me to replay a few levels (I'm hnuqweasd) - a nice touch. Very impressive for 48 hours!

This was an interesting puzzler! I liked how all of the objects still respected the gravity of one strip or the other, that has some good potential for puzzles that I'm probably too inept to get to. Good work!

By far and away, this is the entry I've spent the longest with so far. Had to get those number one spots! I had a lot of fun with this. The use of a Mobias Strip is _brilliant_ - probably the best interpretation of the theme I've seen! The platforming is a little finicky, the the level design more than makes up for it. Great work!

What a cute little slime - loved the slime noises. Fun and addictive game. I played the browser version - it was pretty smooth actually but the leaderboards didn't load for me. Doubt I made it on there  . Wonderful!

An enjoyable and rather cute puzzle game. Particularly liked the twisted loop premise.

Very good puzzle platformer! The levels were unique and really well done. The mobius mechanic added some strategic thinking and "aha" moments without feeling gimmicky.

If I were to nitpick, it would be about the decision to use a physics system, rather than hard code behavior for all items. (Sometimes it felt like I was spending more time chasing down a rolling ball than solving puzzles.) Also, you may not be aware of this, but the level with 3 boxes was unsolveable if you pushed the first box all the way to the left - but ONLY if the third box landed to the right of the second. I'm not explaining this well, but it is at least one example of a time when the randomness caused by the physics engine opened up (or closed) puzzle solutions, which I don't think is ideal.

Fun game! Great submission, especially for a compo game. Some of the scores seemed impossible to beat, i suspect the dev is a cheating hacker. Overall, not a lot to improve, there was a bit of glitchyness when the level first starts, the green disappears and appears briefly. And the music stopped playing.

Fun idea, although a bit confusing to play. I like that how the two "sides" have to interact to solve a level.

Fun game, i like how the level is all one and is above/below itself. Good idea and decent execution
