What

This game is about stucking in a loop - your weapons and defences are automatically fired in a loop. Try to destroy as much enemies as possible! It was made in about 10 hours of work. I'll provide some bugfixes later on.

This time i've done all the art and soundeffects. The background music is a royalty free one. I'll tweak the difficulty level a bit later on.

Controls

Use left and right arrow keys to steer.

Choose your weapons and defence of choice you want to use in the combat in the drum kit below. But choose wisely, each weapon or defence will cost energy!

10-21-2020: Bugfixes and Balancing Update

  • initial spawn time for enemies is now longer
  • enemies are slower in the beginning, but starting moving, shooting and spawning faster the more time passed

This idea is really interesting, well done! i love the visuals and sfx, setting up weapons and defences is a bit hard at first but feels rewarding when you get it right. Just wish there was no an insta death because you have to re-setup weapons again each time.
Thanks for making this game!

Dude the idea is very interesting, but you did not explain how to choose your weapons, which button is it? I tried some, and I didn't find it!
But beautiful work.
I think we just needed to be clearer about the buttons and prevent the player from being able to move the ship off the stage. Congratulations!

Nice game!

The art is very good.
The music is a good choice, the sound effects are very nice.

The chore mechanic is smart and pleasing when you find your rythm. Too bad you did not have time to put more challenge or content in the game.

Here are a few things I noticed in case you didn't:
- you can fly of the screen
- the energy refills after the first beat (energy used on the first beat is the one from previous cycle)
- enemy lasers despawns only when death animation is over. The can even shoot when already dead if their gameObject is still there.
- big blue lasers kill enemies if they are in it when it spawns, but then it just push them away when you try to swipe the screen with it. I guess it's a trigger/not trigger issue.

Thanks for the game, I had fun 💕

Lovely concept but the enemies shoots way too much.

Hey guys, thank you for your nice feedback!

@doot thank you for pointing the bugs out. I've noticed some of them. I'll try to find some time to fix the bugs, add a better explanation what to do and maybe give the player more time in the beginning before starting the combat.

I think i'll balance it a bit more @fadrikalexander  I try to shovel some free time so i can improve the game a bit more.

Such an interesting idea, but I wish there were more tight patterns so that making a loop would be more interesting.

Very nice Idea. It wasn't clear that you need to use the mouse to choose the weapon at first. But once you know that, it's a lot of fun.
Timing is everything
Great entry overall.
Cheers

A great concept, I think, but the difficulty was at least for me a bit high - especially at the start it's very hard to get good shots in or avoid the enemy shots.

the base idea is very nifty! I just feel the implementation could use some work, as it is now, the game feels very punishing by getting a game over after just one hit, which usually isn't the fault of your weapons setup but not concentrating on the screen at all times. What I could see working is the bullets of defeated enemies being deleted as soon as they are, or a slower projectile speed.

The different abilities felt great to use though, and I could see this making for a great hybrid rythm/space shooter!

Why are you patching substantive bugs and aadding balacing updates post jam? That defeats the purpose of playing the jam, morally speaking you shouldn't be patching things that aren't gamebreaking or substanceless

It took me some time to get the timing right, but in the end it was a very fun game! Love the pixel art. Great job!

It's an interesting idea, but there needs to be more in-game instructions. I had to come back here and read to know what I was supposed to be doing. Also, if you're going to be using the mouse, it's really hard for right-handed people to use arrows + mouse, so I'd suggest having WASD also work. It's also extremely difficult, I feel like the player should have more health or there should be fewer enemies or something. I was never able to play for more than maybe 20 seconds at a time. I liked the concept, and it's impressive for such a short timeframe, but it definitely needs a bit more balancing. The pixel art is great, though!

I like the pixel art, the game feels retro. I found it hard to move with the arrow keys with my left hand; to keep my right hand on the mouse, though. The jam version should have been available though. We can't rate properly when we only have an updated version. Fun game.

Thanks for your comments! Appreciate them.

@tuatarian it's not against the rules to patch bugfixes or tweak some things, as long as you can download the original version and have a changelog. I've followed a lot of discussions on that topic in the past Jams  Will try my best for the next time to keep the post jam changes as small as possible

@lilou-cormic you can download the original version, the current version is played automatically in the browser. So i am compliant with the rules. But i've got to admit that i could make it much more clearer! Will do for the next time
