IMy focus was on getting the humor, art, and play to feel cohesive and a bit surreal. Let me know if I hit the marks! Enjoy.

Concept: Keep the lovelorn Verne alive thru his emotional turmoil. Verne is an idiot and WILL DIE without your love.

Play as Fern, the love fern, and do everything you can to KEEP VERNE ALIVE. SC-FERNS0000Layer-9.png Idea Proof:fern's love.jpg Let's see how far I can get with this...

The art is so well done and defintely a unique idea for the gameplay! Adding physics to the moving objects, the text that goes with interacting and the funny animations really added to the games value! Very well done! :D

A charming space to hang out in--I liked how cozy and constrained the room felt. Goes without saying that the art was great. I need my own psychic fern!

Fantastic visuals, that goes without saying, and a neat subversion of expectations with the plant and the human. I did find the gameplay a bit confusing as nothing seemed to happen after Verne's first breakdown.

Very cute game! The art was very polished, and it was nice seeing what you could do with such a small game space.

Sold as soon as I was able to blend the goldfish.

So much personality in this! Such a charmingly packed interface. Great job.

The graphics area very cute and the little animations really add to the game. The music also creates a really nice and cozy mood. The gameplay was slightly confusing at first. Really cool take on the theme!

This is a very charming game, I love all of the visuals. There were a ton of fun and unexpected interactions like putting the fishbowl on the cat's head. Although I think I encountered a game breaking bug after setting the Verne's pants on fire and being unable to put it out with the extinguisher. A very good game nontheless.

Thanks for digging the art, all! That is what I live for!
@garett-cooper I KNOW, right? I had to cut the most important section of interactions that tell you that you need to feed your Verne, because it broke everything. After a rest I will tinker with a postJam version and maybe get into what makes a drag and drop game fun. Thanks for the feeds!

Veeery very striking, graphics are perfect and the psychic fern idea i found it very funny. Overall I like it, although I will be honest, I am not very sure what I was supposed to do aside from save vern everytime he went bonkers.

Overall an awesome experience, well done!

Delightful game, gorgeous pixel art and animations. Confusing at first but it's part of the fun (and that goldfish is definitely still alive)

Really nice!
The cutscene and tutorial was great and the music delightful; very good animations and the gameplay was solid (excepts with the fire extinguisher. I wasn't able to save Verne. RIP Verne)
I wish to see a final stable version of it :D

Loved the art, animations, dialogues and sound. And the cat with a fish tank on his head

This game has a great look! I loved the art and humor. The fire extinguisher was a cool effect. Though the gameplay is pretty confusing and limited. I think it would be better if Verne wasn't so eager to get himself into trouble... I wanted to look around at all the objects first, and maybe play with the cat or stuff like that.

Beautiful game with lovely sound. The animation is great and the idea is very unique but confusing.
It's hard to figure out the interaction and to understand what reacts to what.

Your pixel art and animation is top notch!

Loved the art and the dialogue - it's really impressive that you managed to get dialogue in and feeling good in such a short time!
I think I had the same issue as some others, where it can be quite confusing at the beginning. I think that it feels like a slightly incomplete implementation, but that's probably just because the feedback on your actions isn't super obvious. It definitely helped that you provided some hints on your itch page though, so I ended up having some fun with it for sure! I'd love for the game to be expanded upon, because I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential!

This was one of the best games i've played in LD history. VERY VERY well done! Beautiful art, sound and mood. Kept right in theme and was fun to figure out and play. I did play the "post" LD version which is much better and easier to understand so you clearly have great skill. Awesome job I aspire to make games like you!

Amazing job on the art, a great example of how less is more, especially on the scenery. Really impressive use of limited resolution to tell a compelling story.

I was playing the post-jam version, as the pre-jam one lost me the mouse cursor, but I couldn't get past the 'throw Verne' task, and I became unable to click.

If you were to continue developing as a game post-compo, I'd save go fully to touch/mouse control, as the arrow keys felt kinda cumbersome comapred to moving everything else with the mouse/touch ( plus it'd be fully compatibe wth mobile. )

Kind of buggy and rough around the edges, though you seem to have addressed some of this already in the post-jam version. It's a cute little game! Feels like something I'd play on a DS or something. :)

@johnnysix GOOD CATCH! I will design with touch interface as the main input on the next game I make like this. The disappearing cursor is fixed, as well as the original version's timescale! Thanks everyone for enjoying my weird thing!

Wow! I really enjoyed the art in the game. It looks amazing! This was a very interesting and funny take on the pet style game genre. I would have loved to see a bit more activity going on, though, as it seemed kind of slow but I see you did take care of that in the post-jam version. Either way, great job!!

(Played the LD version) Graphics are fantastic, and it was a cute game. However I was quite confused on what to do after the first life save as nothing happened and I just clicked around and dragged things without much event.
