Ubergine by curleysam

You must water the Ubergine until it is fully grown whilst keeping the hipsters that are trying to eat it at bay!
Arrow Keys or Left Stick - Move Dingus
WASD or Right Stick - Move Gundog
Gamepad support is basic so you have to use the D-Pad in menus, sorry!
Had a lot of fun making this!
Made with Monogame
Quick Note I'm trying to sort out the EXE so it won't get flagged up by Windows but I'm new at this! 😂

It was quite hard to cut my brain in two sides in order to control the two guys, didn't manage to finish the game but idea was really interesting. Good job !
Amazing art, music and sounds.
I liked the challenge of controlling 2 characters at once but it was hard for me to get to the end. I chose the strat of doing vertical movement with the beaver and normal movement with the dude.
The game, though. Wow. Really, really fun, and the art on the eggplant was really something behold!
Nice job!
Nice job !
the game feels great, theme is on point, art is amazing and the dual controller is working like a charm once used to, really well made
-Allow the player to try the characters while the instructions are shown. This gives the player a chance to get used to the controls before being thrown into the game.
-Give some knockback to the bullets. Would make it feel more impactful and add a bit more strategy
-Allow the player to cancel the water gathering animation. Felt pretty helpless when guys just spawned right next to me when getting water
Overall, great game, I loved it! Cheers!
@dummydojo Thanks for the suggestions! The game would really benefit from them. Especially the 1st point about player controls. I'm already asking the player to try split their brain in half so giving them some time to practice would be fair :p Lesson leared! Thanks for the review!
Oh, the game? Yeah it was great! The animations were smooth, the art style worked, the music was an absolute bop, and that eggplant sure had faces that caused emotions in my brain. I don't have much to complain about. I wish there was more to play I guess, I feel like I was really getting into it by the time I beat it. But that's a good problem to have. Great job!
This was really funny! Great art and very interesting choice for a plant. My brain got a little confused having to control two players, but that's more my own fault xD. It had a nice progression with the weapons and the increasing spawn rate of the enemies, plus their variety.
:star:
Honestly though, this was hilarious. You guys are a credit to society.
i like the idea of doing two things the same time,... it gives you a twist in the brain :-D
cool sounds and everything feels very polished.
tech note: i played on linux using wine and it worked perfect!
The game is rather short and the level itself is pretty straight forward. Would've been nice to have some more intricate levels with nooks and crannies and maybe a real skill upgrade tree. Lots of potential to build upon. I enjoyed the ride. Keep it up!
The only thing that felt confusing to me is that enemies could hit the soil just anywhere and hurt my aubergine. I mean, It was on the very top and they hurt it by hitting at the very bottom - maybe they were causing tremors ;). First time I let them just go there to the bottom, thinking "Pfff, idiots, what can they do there?". And it turned out that a lot
Also I do wonder how fun it would be to play it in co-op. Was it supposed to by palyes by either 1 or 2 players?
