Pizza With A Pulse is our entry for Ludam Dare #46. It is a fast paced and hectic pizza delivery simulation. Set during Dr. Badd’s alien invasion of earth the player must deliver the pizza, follow your orders, and who knows; you just might make it out alive!

We really had fun making this game and we feel like each time we do this our team gets better and better. This time is no exception to that. We have pushed our creative minds and talents together to push out a product that we are happy with, as well as one that we would like to maybe even polish further after the Gamejam is complete.

@supergamersgames I take that as a huge compliment! It was always intended to be KB+M, but we set out to make a game filled with chaos and somewhat complicated to control to add onto that! We looked to surgeon simulator a bit for inspiration there. But since we've heard some feedback about a VR game we're considering making a VR port! Thank you for playing and providing your feedback!

Saweet, worked great that time. Got to play it. It was really funny. Not even sure how to approach thinking up something like that. Loved the radio references, found it pretty solid driving around, kept getting stopped by things in the road and turning was kinda hard at times. Found the pizzas to be hilarious but i couldn't find any way to roll down the window to 'throw a pizza out the window'. Beat it, great stuff!

Hey, who wasn't delivered pizza and vital organs?

Very funny; I'm a sucker for the voice clips and the explosions. I would give feedback, but every glitch I find just adds to the game. I guess I would like a nitro button. You know, fly off.

Great atmosphere and well polished for a LD game! The controls are rather funky, but I like the "VR" kind of handling things around. Pizza dropped on my heart, and I wasnt able to pick it up! Stupid pizza! Hahah, had a lot of fun with this one.

Hi @dbreak, thank you for the feedback. Which platform are you playing on, and when did it crash? Depending on your computer, the game may take some time to load after pushing "play". Clicking play a few times may cause some funkyness. Thank you for trying to play and sorry you ran into this issue!

An absolute fever dream. I actually really like the controls, reminds me of good ol' Envirobear. Only issue is stuff glitching through the car, happened to me with the heart on my first try.

Wow, what a bizarre and janky but surprisingly entertaining game. I don't think I ever actually delivered a pizza, but waving them in the window seemed to work. The radio is excellent.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that your mac version isn't working. Google drive takes forever to zip it up, and it must be corrupting it somehow because after downloading/unzipping I just get an error message saying the app can't be opened.

That was a ridiculous game. It was so difficult to balance everything and seeing everything exploding all the time while trying to throw a pizza is great.

Took me a little while to figure out how it works, but once i got it it was prety fun in this apocalyptic world.

I think the sound and graphics of the menu are great and the story is fun. For me it felt like the theme of the LD was pushed a bit into it and didn't connect to the other elements.The game play is a bit to chaotic for my taste and isn't very different from other games driving around destroying everything in your path, but if that is something you like to play, this game could keep you busy for quite some time.

Funny game, the voicelines make it really neat. It would be nice if you added one that explained while there was a heart to be delivered, or did I miss something? Also the pumping lacked visuals in my opinion. But it was fun playing, also really dificult to keep track of the heart/road at the same time since you can only look at where your hand is at. You did a nice job creating all the visuals for this game!

If you could, you should consider a Web build. it's a great way to reach audiences of all OSes.

@shaolin-dave A web build is available! As far as I can tell it runs fine, though the mouse sensitivity is much higher on the web build than it is in the standalone build. Always love y'all's completely unfettered creativity. This game is hilarious and at the same time quite a step up in terms of technical complexity!

The controls took a long time to get used to, but once it finally clicked I was able to have a good time! :)

In terms of polish, I would have loved it if there were maybe some subtitles for the guy who was talking to you on the phone. I could mostly hear him, but some parts when would mumble or say things quietly were a little hard to catch.

Also...I mmmmaaaaaayyyyy have accidentally driven through the pizza shop building and fallen off the map. ;) Was super cool watching all the physics take over on the stuff inside my car when it happened, though, hahaha.

Basically the file was corrupted when it was zipped or unzipped. The solution I came up with was by putting the app into a Mac disk image file (.dmg). Not sure how you'd do that without a Mac, maybe you could do it with a Linux distro, or a Mac OS installed on a VM? You might just ask someone with a Mac to do it for you (feel free to reach out to me).

In the end, most people are just going to play the web version anyway.

I found the controls abit frustrating at first (having to hold down the RMB the look down and having the mouse down to be back and forth etc), but i understand why it made have been coded this way, since the usual w,a,s,d controls were reserved for the car driving. I repeatly dropped the transplant under the seat and was unable to rescue it. I feel like this would have been a better experience for me if i played it in VR. I really like the idea and i'll be coming back to give it a few more gos!

The heart just kept falling though the floor for me :laughing: I felt as inept as in Surgeon Simulator.

hilarious game especially for the time. would love some kind of audio or visual cue for when your hand is overlapping the heart because its hard hard to tell where everything is in space. on the 4th delivery I clipped through a wall, but even as i was spinning and plummeting through space I did my best to keep the heart alive, which felt like a very fitting and satisfying end anyway. overall really fun

I am beyond proud of my brother and his amazing group of friends who put in the work and made this hilarious and hectic masterpiece in 48 hours. It takes a lot for me to be excited about a game, but this game is so unique and well thought out that it's hard not to love it. I have replayed the game 5 times already, and look forward to what the future holds for this game and the amazing group of people who made it.

Wow, this was really fun - it sells the concept immediately with the graphics and audio. I like the chaotic controls in general, however I had a bit too much issues getting hold of the heart (and on some runs couldn't even get it out of the box due to pizza being in the way).

interesting concept but had a lot of issues with the colliders of the heart and the pizza. Resulting in not been able to throw them out of the window or grab the heard. One time it jumped though the windshield when trying to break...

with all the explosions and chaos it was a challenge to keep it together

Definitely an experience I won't forget. Crazy, silly and feels like a fun revival of Surgeon Simulator genre haha. I will say it's very difficult to change where your hand is in 3D space. It might have been to have your hand travel in a sphere around the player so you could simulate look around a lot better and then when you RMB, you choice change the size of the sphere it travels around. Just a thought, all in all a great entry!

I can't grab the heart. The movement of the hand is pretty bad. I am sorry for mean comment, but what else am I supposed to say if I can't play the game.

I tried to play the game but cannot do anything. It is very confusing to me. Great graphics and seems very humorous. I enjoyed the chaos and it seemed to be very much enjoyable if I could grasp how to control it :sweat_smile:

The controls are really difficult to use. I couldn't manage to throw the pizza out the window. I imagined this would work a lot better in VR. The graphics are really nice and that you can actually drive over the people is also a plus point.

So I really like the graphics, sound and humor. Only I could not even grab anything. :D.. maybe a little to whobly controls, even for this genre.
