Hunger Pains by Kaabiikaze
Welcome! This is the page for my submission to the Ludume Dare 47th Game Jam (Oct 2-5)! The theme for this one is stuck in a loop.
With this one being one of my first Ludume Dares, let alone game jams, I went with a fairly simple game idea that I thought could be done in a weekend...
Regardless, I got something working and in a pretty fun state. So without further adieu, here is my very first submission!
Hunger Pains
Hunger Pains is a simple action game where the player is tasked to survive as long as possible on the sushi conveyor belt from hungry customers. Go for the high score, while overcoming the steadily increasing challenges of the customers! You know what they say, the longer people don't eat, the more desperate they will get...
Win Conditions
Survive from the onslaught of chopsticks that are trying to pick you up!
Lose Conditions
Get taken by a chopstick and...gulp eaten!
Developer Notes
This game in its current state is complete in terms of content for the Game Jam. However, there are a multitude of Good-to-Haves that I would like to go back to someday, which most of them are due to time constraints. These include: - Properly cleaning and pruning the code base - Documenting all of the code that is used in this game - Adding in the second challenge that was scrapped due to time constraints

Anyway, this is my very first game jam, so I appreciate any and all respective feedback. I am a programmer first, so my art is a little rough on the edges.
Otherwise I hope everyone enjoys this game! It was fun making this over this weekend.
Very fun take on the theme!
It felt like all the rounds were actually the same level again and again. I think it would benefit for more diversity in the chopsticks layout/rythm.
@zakamana Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate that you liked my theme of the game. Ya, that's a valid point, so there was suppose to be another challenge type but due to time constraints, I was unable to get it implemented into the game. So to compensate, I tried to make a psudo difficulty maker, but as you saw, it is a little repetitive. Funny enough, I was even thinking of doing a random generated level, but that unfortunately didn't come into fruition.
However, it is something that I do want to revisit when I have time later down the road! Thanks again for your helpful feedback!
@radow Thank you! :) Oh my god yes I remember those days fondly, going onto Newgrounds and just spending time after work/school just playing free flash games. Anyway, thanks for the valid point, that was one thing that I noticed after hearing some friends playtesting it, which is something that may have been on my end. But I am glad to hear that it's all consistent so far!
@radgegames Thanks for playing the game! Yes that is something that I will definitely put on my list of things to fix in my revisit of this game, since it was a slight oversight on my end. Regardless though, I love your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the music too! Been in the mood for chiptunes as of lately. :)
Great first jam game! Thank you for bringing it and keep it up! :3
@trexxak Aw thanks for saying that ahaha that really means a lot to hear! Trust me though, there was a LOT more that I wanted to do, but time constraints are the bane of everyone's existence. Regardless, I'm happy that you're happy! :) Trust me, after this, I'll make it an effort to make it out to these events! This was a load of fun!
