Still: very cool idea.
If you do, that's awesome!
Either way, really nice game!
and this kind of puzzles.
I spend quite a bit of time playing it,
thanks for making it :)
and when you say create it indeed create lol
very good idea and execution :D
Great idea of crowdsourcing the glyphs, though!
These sort of ciphers work best for long phrases, like the quotes you have set up. Titles of games or films were a bit more frustrating since I might not recognize them. Though having a puzzle consist of about half dozen different short phrases might work too.
The UI is simplistic but works. To keep with the ancient theme, you may have wanted to use a brighter and darker sandy brown. Just a personal preference though.
The idea of crowd sourcing glyphs was amazing at first but I think I've got my fair share of genitals now http://puu.sh/qSrVm/5f6679bfe0.png xD.
Also this is probably my fault but I was incredibly reliant on hints. Without a starting couple of letters, just the hint "movies" and the layout _____ ______ doesn't give me any ideas, since anything could be anything. Its like hangman without knowing if you got the letter wrong.
Overall a cool idea and interesting twist on a classic word puzzle.
Good concept by the way. Thumbs up!!
to improve it I think it may be a little better if it starts with some hints, so it goes a title faster.
I wish the glyph creation was a little smoother to use (maybe just higher resolution?)
Clever game though!
But... there's no way to deduce your way through any of the puzzles, is there? Like, it doesn't seem to give any kind of feedback about the correctness of your guesses, so trying to figure out any glyph comes down to randomly getting everything right. There doesn't seem to be a Hangman-like penalty either, you only get to request a hint (and that feels like cheating).
Am I missing something?
For instance, if the puzzle was "THEY GOT THE THING", the cryptogram might be "BQLE JUB BQL BQRWJ". The big hint here is the sequence "BQ". It occurs three times, and "TH" is the most common digraph in English. So you can try that out and see how the puzzle looks. "TH__ __T TH_ TH___".
From there, you can see that the three-letter word "TH_" is almost certainly "THE", which gives you "THE_ __T THE TH___".
After that, it's mostly guessing and checking, with the last clue being that the first letter of "__T" matches the last letter of "TH___".
Hope that helps!
The puzzles really need to be longer passages of text. If you download random books from project gutenburg, for example, and take paragraphs out of them, and show glyth frequencies, then ... :)
It is unfortunate that the nature of the game makes it so you will prettymuch always need a 'hint' or probably a few.
As for the puzzles, it can be almost impossible to start solving without a few clues. I suppose you could trial and error the letters and see if legible words come out. The glyph making is nice and fast which is really cool.
I like the games with simple idea/concept and I think this is one of them. This can be a good entertainment in mobile devices for the downtimes.
You should use the right click to white color, or hotkeys to change color quickly.
The UI is perfect. This kind of game does not need anything else.
Work well on windows but I encounter a problem on android touchpad : the virtual keyboard show up but input does not work.
Also, it would be nice to have multiple alphabets across the game, so you can take notes, have an easier time and complete your notes ;)
Well done !
had fun creating glyphs, although i couldn't manage to solve any puzzle since there are so many glyphs now :p
but hey well done ! nice entry :)
