Herb! We need your help, we're almost out of supplies and none of the others have come back. Get out there and don't come back until you've got resources for the tribe! Hunter.gif

Live the life of Herb, your tribe's slightly inept last hope at survival. Venture into the wilderness to collect resources and keep your tribe alive.

You'll encounter trees to chop, plants to gather, and animals to slay.

Be prepared to defend yourself, the boars round these parts are vicious. Boar.gif


Notes:

  • Use wasd to move and spacebar or click to attack.

  • If you notice some tiles flickering, sorry, it's a bug in godot.

  • I'd recommend downloading the game if you really like it as the online version has some significant audio lag.


Bugfix update:

  • Fixed round two (and beyond) resource goals

  • Fixed entity spawning and distribution across map (Trees saved from the void, animals spread over the whole map) hopefully.

Cool game. I found it kind of hard to find animals, though.

LMAO! The audio effects were absolutely hilarious. Kept me smiling the whole time. Hitboxes need a lot of work though — for some reason I can only hit grass from the left side and only if I'm slightly under it. You need to enlarge the hitbox on the grass. Also why do the trees move when you hit them? Also I couldn't find any creatures -- after the first minute or so they seem to have fucked off into nowhere and they have disappeared. Overall very funny game, I enjoyed it!

Oh one more thing — you should try to get your sprites to match scales. For example — the pixels on the tree are like 10x bigger than the pixels on the main player!

It was fun to discover that tree falling on you damages you - nice touch :D Animals are very rare and I couldn't even find 1 boar :/

Nice concept. I believe the lack of background music is really noticeable (or isnt it?). I had a problem with one herb I was hitting from the right and nothing happened, and went for the left and it worked. The pixel art is fantastic.

The deer sound is so good. It was so unexpected I literally followed the deer just so I could hear it again.

Thanks for the feedback, as far as some of your issues - I think the spawning of everything is a little bit off. Mostly a last minute thing, was working with a smaller map before and when I scaled it up it got weird. The hitboxes could use some tweaking too, the herb one is probably too small.

Glad you all enjoyed it, I like having fun with these, nothing too serious.

Pretty nice 8-bit art, wish there was more to do it get's pretty boring even halfway through the first mission. I can't even imagine doing the 1800+ piece ones. But still a nice concept, just needs more functionality but good job bro! Super good

Interesting game! I love the voice sounds! Not sure about finding 24150 meat in the second level though...

Some music would have been nice! Good job!

That is definitely not supposed to happen, but hey maybe the village is very hungry. It was supposed to double for the second level so not sure what went wrong.

nice sound effects, love how the sound of the animals guides you towards them, I had a cluster of them tho, so I died really fast, nice fun game

I found the bug causing the resource counts to go insane - as long as you are on the splash screen between levels the level counter increases every tick. This causes the resource requirements to grow exponentially as it's just the numbers from the first level multiplied by the level count.

I'll be uploading a fixed version soon but there isn't any reason to play it again as nothing really changes past that point, you'll see the same splash at the end of every level and the resource requirements increase again.

I also fixed the spawning I think, animals should spawn over the whole map now, they were only spawning in the top left before.
