Forever Green by Gildar76

[raw]
made by Gildar76 for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Use the Plant seeds button to start planting seeds. The seeds will become beans aftera certain amount of time. You can speed this time up by applying fertilizers to the seeds.

Once they become beans they can be eating by insects and you also need to water them frequently. Deploy pesticide to make the insects stay away from the crops.

You loose the game if all your crops die, or get eaten.

Controls: You control the entire game with the buttons at the bottom. The tractor will follow a set path, so it will be easier for you to keep the early seeds in the path alive.

HINTS: I'm not sure the fertilizer is worth it right now, the growth time may be a bit to short.

CURRENT ISSUES:

The WebGL build seems to have some issues with audio, I currently have about halft the sound effects, and another person reported they had none. The game is also a bit to easy I think. I had to slow things down a lot, and probably overdid it.

Windows build will be added shortly.

A farming simulator like this is a pretty interesting game jam challenge! I actually wish more of the controls would be done directly by the player instead of automated. That could lead to more "action" and interesting choices from the player

The idea is actually really interesting, and I think it would be really fun if it was a little bit faster, but it's just too slow for my taste.

@reisn YEah, I realize it's a bit slow. When I started it was meant to have more management features, like buying and selling stuff, but I had to strip that out cause I couldn't finish it in time.

THanks for the review!

I liked the game a lot. I agree with the other comments where if you speed up a bit the tractor it would be even more fun but overall great job.

Definitely an interesting idea having the player direct the tractor. Would like to see the pace of the game increase, but not a bad attempt

It's a pretty decent game, I just have one main gripe with it. It's a bit hard to balance between the different things that the tractor can do. Often I would go to use pesticide, and the crops would need to be watered. Other than minor things like that, it's pretty good!

Chill neat little game :)

I get it was probably design choice to have limited control over the tractor, but I wished though that I had somewhat a bit more direct control over the tractor, not nessecarily that I could drive it around directly myself. I just felt I couldn't deal with problems how I wanted to.

A bit too slow to my taste, but I like how easy the controls were. If the player could program the tractor to do certain things in order, this could be a great idle game.

This is an interesting entry and the pace could be faster! By the way, I heard no sound in web version.

While it's nice that the controls are simple and minimalist, the time it takes for the tractor to do anything (especially if you're trying to deal with the whole field) is far to long and you quickly end up in a losing state. It would probably be best if there was only a single field with maybe more increasing with upgrades or speed up the tractor to make it a bit more accessible.

There is a potential idea in this but you need to think about the mechanics of the game, along with the playability for the user. The core idea though is good, just needs work to polish it.
