Sushi for Robots by ludipe

[raw]
made by ludipe for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

Short puzzle game about a sushi restaurant for robots.

You will only need your mouse. I used a premade song, you can just download "Sushi For Robots_compo.zip" if you prefer to play a build without it for rating purposes. Audio rating for this entry has been disabled.

It looks kinda stable, but I'm sure there will be several glitches since you can tweak the position of important objects. I did complete it a couple of times from start to finish before uploading it though.

The browser version has been updated with a new portal icon and some text corrections. The compo build doesn't get any updates.

This game is sweet, but I can't figure out how to rate it.

@zachary-barbanell I think you have to wait another day (once the whole jam ends) before being able to rate games.

Ah, that makes sense, though it's a bit annoying. I'll have to save this for later then.

Looks like ratings are open now.

Great game. Most of the levels were very tight, although I did end up solving 12 and 14 with an unused sticker. You seem to have the line about sake in there twice, and you're missing a word on one of the earlier texts. Also, I'm not a fan of how there's a left arrow portal and a right arrow portal, even though those directions don't mean anything as far as I can tell.

Overall, this is a nice, short little game that's still got some challenge to it, and the little blurbs on the left are charming. I like it a lot.

@zachary-barbanell Thanks for playing and for the feedback! You nailed it. I don't know why I thought about using those icons for portals.

This is excellent! I can totally imagine playing a version of this with more levels on Apple Arcade. Everything feels very smooth and stylish, the mechanics are intuitive, and the puzzles are interesting. The little animations give it a lot of charm.

Great game! Could've benefitted from a speed-up button.

I think the theme, the music, and the food felt perfect. I'm hungry for sushi though which is where i'm deducting points :P

I really like the theme and the humor (I enjoyed the "flavor text"), fun puzzle concept for the theme "stuck in a loop".

My feedback would be it might be nice to have a speedup button as well as a pause button to give the player more tools to "debug" their "answer" to the puzzle.

Very nice, reminds me of a combination of the games Rush and The Cat Machine

I made it to the end! I liked the text and figuring out the puzzles. On some of them I didn't even need all the stickers - maybe that was intended or perhaps I was lucky in finding solutions. The way the robots looked at the dishes of the right color was really nice.

Great entry a simple game but very well executed and fits the theme very well. I would also have liked a speed up button but that is just a small improvement as the levels are not that large and you dont have to wait to long

Super chill and a good amount of mechanics were introduced over the course of the game! I liked how non-linear some of the levels felt despite it just being on a single loop.

I also saw you created Efi in the previous Ludum Dare, I really enjoyed that too!!!

This conveyor belt puzzle is incredibly polished for compo. The challenge curve was perfect. Every time I felt perplexed or bored, the next solution and interesting mechanic showed up. The art style is beautiful and fits with the theme perfectly. The music was a great fit as well. Thank you for the game!

Great puzzle, very interesting to play. Maybe that's intentionally, but some kind of a grid on both a belt and a progress bar would help approximate the distance sushi travels.

Congrats on being able to create such an interesting puzzle game with a clear and concise tutorial! Finding time to properly teach the mechanics and controls is one of the hardest things to do in a jam, and you did an excellent job. The minimalist art style is fantastic as well :)

I am not a big puzzle game player, but I liked yours a lot. It is not too easy to be uninteresting and not so hard that it becomes frustrating. Just the right difficulty level. And I like the calm atmosphere.

Really well done. Loved the puzzles and the nice ramp up in difficulty as more mechanics are introduced. The humorous snippets added a lot of personality too.

Great work! The mechanics are deceptively simple, those are pretty tricky puzzles. None of the puzzles feel unfair though. And 10/10 mood for sure.

Clever puzzle game, and an excellent introduction to alternate history sushi as experienced by our robot friends. Some of the levels took a while, but I thought the core mechanics were very well thought out. Great work!

Great graphics and I love your interpretation of the theme. The game feels very polished. I think it would be a great game for mobile.

Lovely little puzzle game, with clear visual style that gives plenty of character to the quirky premise. The flavour text in levels worked surprisingly well too, along with that gorgeous music you really create such a chill and pleasant vibe. First 10 levels were really intuitive in a satisfying way, but then those final 5 definitely required a bit of headscratching, a welcome challenge.

Nitpick would be regarding collision - I'm sure I saw sushi pass through each other a couple times, I think to do with teleporters. But better that then they all get stuck inside each other I guess!

Really loved this, each level moved up well in difficulty. Nice interpretation of the theme!
