I thought this would be short and simple, but you kept adding new mechanics. This has potential for a post-jam version.

Probably the funniest LD entry yet! It would work fantastically as a mobile game and I could see many more elements implemented. Great job!

Super cute! Fun gameplay and nice mechanics. Feels like it can be expanded a lot and you already got a fair amount of content despite the limited time :v:

This is great! Fun mechanics and well designed levels. The stats on the ending screen were a nice touch. Excellent work.

This game is somewhat narrative that I always have to sacrifice the hero to save princess. Levels are funny and of high completion.

This has really good gameplay and puzzle design. Played through the whole thing. I really like the physics, super solid and never frustrating. I wish the rest of the game's sounds and visuals matched how vibrant and expressive the main sprites are. Great job overall!

Charming little game with a good amount of levels to showcase ideas. Enjoyed how they progressively showed off more mechanics, however the levels themselves didnt really feel like they were getting more difficult. The graphics weren't super, but the simple music was nice. 7/10

Really cool game, enjoyed it a lot. There were a lot of levels you finished in such a short time. I did feel like it'd be nice to be able to click and drag anywhere on the screen, rather than having to click on the cube to drag, although I can see why it was done this way for the levels that have two characters.

This is one of the more fun games i've playd so far, its simple, its fun, it's addictive and it runs well and seems to be polished. for being done in such a short amount of time this is fantastic. i cant really give any constructive it's a solid game.

♥ Such a pleasant game to play and clear! I don't usually go for such games, however this was lovely. :) Well thought of and put together. The graphics fit the game, however at times it felt as though there is quite a bit of variation.

Music: You know what, it actually blended into the game pretty well for how simplistic it was. I would have loved to hear something a bit more cute with a fiery twitst. However you know what it did the job in supporting the game. :)

This is excellent, you could easily build this into a full mobile game with different worlds, for example! With their own mechanics and scenery.

You had LOTS of levels for a 48 hour game and plenty of mechanics.

I'd kinda like to see stats at end of each level, or a rating system after each level. Having the stats at the end of the game was a great, fun little nod!

A lot of levels , fun, cute graphics, it's made for mobile and it's going to be a hit, it reminds me of cut the rope but the premise and mechanics are different.

Ideal thing for mobiles, feels controls feel good, no glitches with physics. Graphics could use some more particle effects but I believe this :easy to read" style was intentional.

Very fun game, I like that the rope doesn't start breaking until your first jump, it lets you take a good look at the level and plan your moves without stress.

Fun game, would play it more if it had more levels. If you had more time, invest it in more clever puzzles, most of them were pretty straightforward (but still pretty good knowing you had only 2 days!).

Funny to play and interesting puzzles to solve ! (I'm impressed, you had time to create that many in such few time :hushed: )

I got to the end (the true one, idk why there was a scoring before the final level  ), the LD46 easter-egg level was a great reward
It was interesting to see new mechanics coming through the new levels, and it was funny to be able to save Princess Ribbon giving our own life :grinning:

I really like your game ! I even reached the end of it !

I was impressed by the number of levels that you made, they were a lot and they were well balanced, it went harder each time + adding a new mechanic. Moreover, I liked also the track record at the end, I was not that bad, I almost saved the princess as many time she fell x)

I don't have anything more to say, the only thing I want to say: you should make it as a bigger game !

Overall very nice work !

One of the most fun and enjoyable LD games I've ever played! Fells very polished and finished.
The idea is cute, the music simplistic and nice. And so much levels! I got stuck at Level 7 or so and got frustrated, but I'll be definitely come back for more :D and I'll show it to my boyfriend, most of the time he's better in gaming than I am ^^
Very very good job, especially considering you did this on your own!
Btw, you should make a webbuild, then you'd have even more players, some people are irresponsibly lazy ;)
also, it's a failrpoof way of sending this to mums and dads to try it out xD They can be quite irritated with the whole zip shenanigans ^^
I could very well see this game being played on smartphone or tablet, the controls would work very well!
If you continue to work on it, maybe make it so that when the player dies it's immediately Game Over? :)

Thank you everyone for the feedback

@fatpenguin Thank you for playing  Very sorry to hear that you got stuck on level 7! There is a skip button (key N) to move to the next level if you want
Regarding the webversion, nevertheless the web build is not as good as the windows/macOS/linux build. It can be laggy, and there are some issues depending on the brower  But it was great for testing.
At last, yes I hesitated to make the death of the player a game over, but the LD46 theme was "Keep it alive" not "Keep them alive", so I found funny to save the girl, while dying, but clearing the level
fatPenguin
25. Apr 2020 · 15:00 UTC
@goutye NO WAY I SHALL NOT SKIP!!! ^^
Oh shoot, webplayers can be a pain in the ass right :/ I still hve to add one for our game but not until I adjusted the light for it ^^ Id rather have someone not play our game because hes a lazy ass then putting a webbuild out there that looks ugly! So I get your point ;)
Duly noted and that's how I immeadiately took it and found it funny :)
however, I didn't mean it as in "Hey the princess lived but you died so game over anyway", I actually thought that was cool because it allowed for real superhero kamikaze moves :D
I simply meant as in making it more enjoyable for the player, you know those creatures are easily annoyed ;) what you could also do is that as soon as the player dies the princess falls from the rope :)
(if she is still on the rope, therefore probably wouldn't make it anyway)

@fatpenguin "what you could also do is that as soon as the player dies the princess falls from the rope" Yes! I thought about it too late in the night to implement it properly nevertheless. The biggest issue was when multiple characters where movable by the player  At least, there is a quick restart button in these cases
Thank you for the detail feedback!! :sparkler:

This was one of the most fun to play games I've played! So many levels and mechanics to keep it interesting and fun! Music was relaxing too.
I liked how you transformed the very classic "save the princess" theme into something so simple and fun!
Also I loved the name 'Princess Ribbon' just bcs it's her trademark and how it doesn't matter that even if you die and save the princess you win the level anyway :') Congratulations!

Crashes on my T420 Thinkpad. I guess it is because my max OpenGL version is 4.6 here and also no Vulkan. The single EXE is a massive plus though. :)
🎤 Goutye
27. Apr 2020 · 00:41 UTC
@szieberth-adam Oh? It should be compatible with any PC supporting OpenGL ES 3.0. I could try to provide an OpenGL ES 2.0 build, but the result may be different. Best would be to give you a debug build. If you are interested, I will make that available tonight. Very sorry for the trouble
Szieberth Adam
27. Apr 2020 · 05:48 UTC
Haha, no problem at all. Would try the debug version.

EDIT: I started it from Godot and it was good. Then I restarted the EXE and it crashed my whole PC, got a blue screen and had to restart. After the restart, the EXE works nicely. Unfortunately I can not reproduce the problem anymore but even if I could, I doubt it would be anything specific to Princess Ribbon.

Thanks for your helpful attitude.
🎤 Goutye
27. Apr 2020 · 07:55 UTC
@szieberth-adam Wow! Even if it is not specific to Princess Ribbon, it may be useful for Godot Engine developers if it caused a blue screen on your computer. But as you say, you are now unable to reproduce the bug as you can start the EXE without problem  Thank you for the details, and for trying to figure it out! I can still provide you a debug version if you want to expand the search, but I guess it is not necessary anymore? Enjoy your day and thank you very much

Really great concept and amazing job getting all those different levels in as well as different mechanics introduced throughout the levels as well! Love the graphics as well and the simple animation really works. Possibly a few more sound effects would be nice to really get the player involved with fab feedback but I definitely think you should continue development of this and, as previously mentioned, I reckon it would do so well on mobile! Great job and super impressive that this was a compo game as well!

This is probably my favourite game so far this Ludum Dare. I'm amazed at the polish, and the number & quality of the levels.

Sometimes the time to complete each level felt a little short - not a big deal, but it was often quicker to just restart the whole level after a failed jump rather than keep trying from where I landed. Even just a tiny bit more time would feel a bit better in my opinion.
