Electronic Toy Racecar Championship

Take control of fastest car on the track, the red one of course. Be sure to slow down around turns with their posted speed limit or end up back at the starting line. Beat the other two cars by being the first to finish 16 laps to win.

Hold the 'w' key to speed up and release to slow down.

I appreciate all comments good or bad. If you have any issues please leave a comment down below.

This is a windows build only. Download the zip from itch.io and run the 'LudumDare47.exe' file.

Thank you for trying out my submission!

big oof on that download size, maybe make a web build if possible? I still had to download this to scratch that yakuza 0 pocket racing itch. the only feed back I can think of is to have some kind of indicator for how 'long' the turns are so I know by what time I need to slow down, and when I can speed up again.

Thank you for pointing that out. I generally don't look at the file size but you're right that is very large. I uploaded a smaller version just now. Thanks so much for that catch.

The theme is there, but it gets boring pretty quickly... Graphics and menu looked good, good job!

Pretty good graphics, I like the toyish mood, reminds me of an old childhood game called Microvolts, decent job!

The smaller build is missing the data folder.I had to download the full version to play it.

Pretty fun, similar to pocket racing in the Yakuza games. I think the camera shouldn't be fixed. Maybe make it look at the players car to help convey speed. It's hard to tell how fast the car is going when it's far away from the camera and the numbers aren't easy to read or control when rounding corners

I used to love scalextric as a kid and this definitely captures that core of the pain going too fast around the last corner. I do slightly miss the satisfaction of watching my bad driving causing the car to spin across the room under the couch though. I agree that some kind of indicator of where the bounds of the corner are would help. I'd also like to see the AI wipe out occasionally too, they absolutely annihilated me because I kept having to restart my first few laps since I hadn't figured out the track yet. A little more variation on their performance would help keep things exciting I think. I think this is actually really close to being a lot of fun, its already very enjoyable in its current state (but I may have a pretty strong nostalgia bias)

It is soooo satisfying!! I am really bad at racing games, but this one I like. Because I win all the time. Ok, I guess replayability would be higher if you'd add more tracks, clever A.I. upgradable parts, avatars... but you'd need a very long weekend for that. Fun game, thanks!

I fixed the smaller file upload. The exe's name changed. I believe it works now. Thanks for pointing that out 'Skleembof'.

I was not able to play for a long time because my browser doesn't support WebGL and had to download it, and my computer is very slow and was about to catch on fire. But the play time was fun, You could indicate which car you are. Great game.

Great graphics, nice and simple, web version was too small to see the speeds though

Nice angle and visuals, and the handling is good too. Would be really satisfying to see the care derail rather than fade to black. 🙂
