Magical Girl Storms The Castle by dracominer
A girl is on her way to storm a castle when she and her friends are attacked by goblins! She is the healer of the group, but her friends are trained soldiers.
Controls
Move using WASD and use magical abilities with 1, 2, 3 or h, j, k * 1/h = Cure Wounds (single target) * 2/j = Mass Cure Wounds (many targets, in range) * 3/k = Healing Beam (single target, concentration)
Known Bugs: (of Compo Version)
- Some firewalls will not allow running the game. (Unsure of how to solve besides turning firewall off)
- Sometimes reaching the win or lose screen will cause the game to crash (Linux/Windows versions so far)
Supplementary Feedback
I have allowed for anonymous feedback on this game, however, I have also made a google forms questionnaire if you would like to give me any more feedback or if you have thoughts you want to send to me both anonymously and privately. I appreciate any and all feedback in any fashion, be it in the comments here, on the ItchIO page, or from the form. My goal is to become a better game developer overall so I appreciate your help on my journey.
Objective
The goblins are attacking, you must clear them out before you can proceed! But you friends aren't very smart, you have to position them and heal them according to what is needed. As the faithful healer, you must continuously tend to your party.
Planned, but incomplete
Originally I envisioned this as a campaign game where each stage saw the addition of a new ally and new enemy types. This is probably the closest to a single level of the campaign that I could make within the 48-hours, but maybe after I'll add the rest of the campaign (no doubt at my own pace!) I wanted the allies to have "Ultimate Abilities" and to have one spell unlock that ultimate ability of one of your allies. I have the structure set up, but no special abilities yet.

About Dev
This is my first time entering in the compo, a fluke where the rest of my team was busy but I wasn't. I am normally a programmer/game designer in the Jam, so I had to learn pixel art, music making, and definitely time management. I would greatly appreciate any pointers for anything I've made here. I loved competing in this Compo and I hope to again in the future!
