Loved the art for this one. I was underwhelmed at first with the speed and pacing of the enemies but it gets SUPER fast paced when either you are really low on health OR you approach a score of 200. Either way, i was very impressed with the game and with the fact that this was done with a custom game engine. Bravo!

I'd recommend to upload some executable. Not everyone is willing to figure out how to run a jar :)

Quick reminder to get more players: Use a thumbnail for your game. Otherwise your game is presented with this grey box. Some great Games are not played because of a missing thumbnail ... You can still change it by editing your submission page :)

It get an atari feel based on the graphics and sound effects of the game, which is kinda cool! I would find ways to add variety to get game. Perhaps maybe there could be a level where you have to throw the bombs back at whatever enemy is sending them? Maybe there could also be multiple cities you choose from that have different obstacles to them? It'll spice up the game, and add variety to it for sure.

I thought it made really good use of sound and music.

It seems like at a certain point (800ish?), you start running into issues where its starts slowing down (garbage collector?). It seems like you hav a fixed mount of assets in the game such that you can load everything into ram at the start and never need the garbage collector if that is the case.

Nice game. The sound and music really fit the NES/Atari feel. The gameplay was fun, gets really intense after a while, and about 250 the bombs spawn many times per second. Really fun, nice job!

FIrst Java-based game I've played this jam. Cool concept.
After I've reached score 280+, the game started to flood me with unbelievable number of bombs - I lost instantly. An it feels kind of unfair...
