Potatojoe: Stuck in Time by MadHarlekin

[raw]
made by MadHarlekin for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Everyone in this steampunk world is stuck in a timeloop, Can you save the city? We barely managed to create the tutorial, but we had a lot of fun and will work further on our first game.

Controls: WASD to move, E to Pickup Items or opening doors, F to use handheld item. (And a secret command, which lets you glitch hard)

SPOILER ALERT! ONLY READ THIS IF YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO BEAT THE GAME! Because the last part of the game is very unclear, here is what you need to do to finish the game: Drop the remote near a NPC right when the guy running against the door begins looping, he should go through the door and the Credits will play. Hopefully it will be clearer in a future build.

We built everything ourselves except the Sprites for the NPCs and the cat. Thanks to https://www.patreon.com/elthen for providing these placeholder graphics.

The art work and animations are very impressive. I had trouble leaving the room after putting out the fire (I think I got looped). I managed to explore some of the unfinished map by spamming R. You should keep working on this it looks great.

The movement is really solid and the art is pretty cool. One thing I would say is that it wasn't very clear what you were supposed to do. I chased the guy in the first room about eight times before I realized he wasn't going to do anything else. Like Enad I also glitched off the platforms to explore the map. Overall good job for a first Jam, it'd be cool to see a fuller version of this game.

It's a bit rough, but still a game made in 72 hours. Nice work and keep going!
