Captain Molly is a game about heroism, honor and sacrifice. You play as Molly, a fearless commando, ready to any sacrifice to save innocent kittens. Led by Erwin, you'll have to defeat all the enemies in the Fox Base to complete the mission you have been sent here for.

Made by Éloïse Zirotti and Robin Six.

We uploaded the Ludum Dare build on itch.io, but since we like the game we made, we decided to improve it and work on another build. If you want to rate us, make sure to try the Ludum Dare submission, otherwise, you can download the second archive which is obviously better ! Thank you.

I love the mood and the world building, this feels like a game with purpose! Twin-stick shooting with an ammo / reload mechanic and escorting was a fun twist on the formula. I would've loved more sound effects / music to add to the mood. Great job!

Very good graphics in this game. I liked it overall.
Definitely can be improved in the future.
Roll or dodge action was missing in fighting with enemies.

Pretty good! The gameplay is simple but addictive. The Game difficuly is a bit hard maybe. The graphics are cool too. Also the kitty sound is a bit annoying at a moment, i wanna kill them at the end X)

I'm usually to lazy to pick up my 360 controller and you succeed to make me plug it XD
Great entry
Graphism are excellent for the genre.
The order in layer of the heal pack was over half the character XD but it was a bug I guess ^^

Just two little point triggered me a little:
- The "bouncy" bullet should have another color in my opinion, this was pretty unclear which bullet will bounce and which will not.
- You probably should have put checkpoints when you securise a kitten. Usually Ludum testers are lazy and dont try more than two times an entry where you need to restart the whole game at each death.

Regardless of that, his game was a great entry overall, for two people only it's really nice. good job ! :)

Thanks everyone for playing our game!

@ironjeff Yes, we're working on sound design so kitten sounds will not be the unique sound effect anymore :p

@paullyaudet Thanks for the feedback ! I did change the bouncing bullets color, that is a good idea. For the checkpoints, we did not add some because the game duration is pretty short actually, but you're right about the ludum testers that don't usually play the games multiple times, so I guess we should have add checkpoints haha

Too bad there is no music or shooting sound, the kitten sound seems to be on loop even when you saved it. Love the graphics and the feeling overall :)

Good game! The art is great and the gameplay loop is good!
It's a shame that there is no music, since the graphics are really top notch

@siryakko @docgeraud @squeele Thank you guys :) totally agree, we had sound on the improved version because it indeed lacks audio !

The game overall is very good and one of the best so far. Visually, everything's great : the graphics, the feed-back, you're not overwhelmed by information... The gameplay is very efficient and works really well
Yeah the sound design is very bad, but it seems like you have upgraded it in the newer version so ^^
Good job the both of you :3c

It is really cute and fun. I wanted to get to the end of the game but I ran into some problems: the xbox controller initially did not allow me to shoot and after saving the first cat a normal enemy did not die. I died first and not finding myself well playing with the keyboard I stopped. I really liked the feeling in general. Aesthetically beautiful, top audio!

Very well done on your game! :) So well crafted for such a little amount of time :) Enjoyable and simple!
I didn't know if we could carry two kitties at once but I went quite far and tried to carry two kitties but got killed by the spikes so i assume we must get back the kitty once you got one.
The design and the graphics are cute and really cool! :)
The upgrades room added a nice addition to the game, reminded me of dungeon of the endless, but in a more simple way of course :)
Well done on your entry!

Can you provide a linux build?
🎤 Saering

@feingehacktes I built the game for Windows, Mac and Linux if I trust what Unity says. I wrote Windows 64 but it might work ?

Wait there is a web version. You should really add that to the description. A lot more people will play it then

@feingehacktes Yes but the web version is not the jam submission, it is an improved build ! We don't really care about having lots of ratings and score, but people wouldn't like us to share a game that has been made in more than 72 hours :)

Wow. This was amazing. Perfectly executed and well polished. I loved every aspect of the game.

My only wish is:
- at least one more upgrade (triple bullets or something similar that appears in bullethells)
Thanks for creating it!

Great submission, well polished entry.

Would be nice to see some sort of dodge type mechanic but other than that the game was rather fun to play. I like the kitties on the back part was a really nice touch.

Would be awesome if you could come check out my Tower Defense game I made for the jam: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/ld-46-tower-defense

I made sure to play the LD46 version of course. Very nice game. I see foxes are the enemy in your game, just like they are in mine. There were some minor issues imho. I the enemy projectiles too hard to avoid, and the kitten sound kept playing non-stop after picking up the first one. But that's the kind of thing to expect when a game has to be made in 72 hours. Overall I liked your game a lot.

This was pretty fun! The shooting is very juicy and rewarding. The fights are frantic but over quickly if you keep moving. The overall aesthetic is very cohesive and cute. I wish you didn't have to start all over again when you die though. Overall, a nice game!

Thanks everyone for trying our game out and your feedback!

@maksym Congrats on saving all the kittens haha :p you're totally right about the upgrade thing, we discussed it when we did our post mortem and the games lacks a sense of progression.

@stefan-jovanovic Well, I can just thank you for that, that is flattering :)

the little kittens were so cute. Loved the art style. I played the web version but maybe I'll try out the gamepad. I do enjoy gamepad controls but I'm on my laptop atm which is mac so that's why I did the web version.

I dunno if you get other weapons or not, b/c I accidently did the touchpad gesture to hit the back button after I saved a few kitties. but I feel like a shotgun would be awesome in this game if one doesn't already exist

Beautiful looking game and nice amount of polish. Fun to play also. Only suggestions would be to have the camera follow your crosshair a bit so its easier to see the enemies coming. Also when you die, if you move the cursor around, your dead body moves to face it.

So wholesome :D

I am a big fan on the art style here. The gameplay isn't the most engaging but there are a lot of elements to make a game and I think that is why game development is so hard. I turned my volume up really loud because I thought there should be some sound effects but I only heard a super loud kitten meow haha. Honestly that sound effect wasn't that cute and since it was heard from anywhere it became hard to focus on the enemies.

I have to agree with Paul that checkpoints would have been nice since I'm not very good at these kinds of games and because there was no music/sounds it didn't make me feel engaged enough to try again. However, I played the post-jam version and enjoyed that a lot because of the dynamic music and SFX etc. Would have been fun to carry multiple kittens at once though to speedrun the game :p I managed to rescue all kittens in this version.

All in all a nice entry, didn't have an xbox controller and the stream controller I have didn't work with the game but oh well.

Nice cute graphics and good core gameplay! I like the meows.

More of a twist to it would be cool, and otherwise just more explosions and enemies at all times.
