Welcome in Paint Rush.

In this homage to good ol' arcade games, you'll start with nothing, and will struggle understanding where you stand or where to go.

Crush devilish ennemies against grounds and doors to paint your way through the game, and understand the contours of this world that seems hidden to your eyes! Jump, climb walls, hit and explode your opponents with powerful finish moves to stay alive until the end.

Be brave, warriors!

Actually a pretty fun game! Sound fits. Could add a little bit more color to the spawn and in general explain where to go. Other than that, Pretty cool!

Very nice! The sounds where nice. And the hidden enemies that you have to punch to get them visible is a very nice mechanic. Only problem with it was that you get "why did I die" feeling if an unvisible enemy kills you because there's lot of colors and stuff happening. The controls were really responsive and the grabbing and throwing was great. Very nice!

Juicy fighting game with a great art style. The flying laser guys were really annoying but the fact you can kill them by throwing other enemies at them makes up for that. The environment is confusing sometimes (since it is invisible until you move there or fight enemies) but this leads to some interesting back-against-the-wall fights.
Had a lot of fun playing

Thank you so much guys for your very warm comments, it feels good!

@huntrox we made a hotfix to fix this issue, it happened when you grabbed an enemy next to a wall then player was in a slide animation while having a grabbed enemy, sorry for it!

So far the best thing I have seen around! Hands down this is truly nice concept and the idea how to approach the theme. Brilliant. Defo staying on my list and will want to come back to this in my free time :) Great thing to start my day with! Thank you so much for this! Great job

Woah, thanks a lot to all of you for the warm feedbacks! Super awesomely awesome if you had fun playing our game :)

@mrabnox not knowing where to go was a bit of an intent on our side, hope you found your way crushing minions everywhere ;)

@barracudadisaster yes, I think that with more time we could have worked ennemies behavior to make those things clearer

@nocity glad you experienced it that way :id:

This is an incredibly fun game. The combat is fun, it adheres to the theme in a fun and creative way. It offers parts where you just let go and kill enemies. It's awesome, stellar game loved it!

Web version doesn't capture the controls so space throws you down the page instead of jumping but other than that a great game :D love everything about it

This is a really fun game based on a great idea. However, some more instructions are needed. I didn't know those round red squares were the enemies and that I was supposed to hit them. I was running around the corridors, trying to avoid the lasers and just couldn't get anywhere. Fortunately I got told what to do by a friend.

Amazing game! Needs to be played in fullscreen and takes a bit of time to figure out how to play, but its really fun!

The art and animation are simply amazing! I loved the idea and the execution is not certainly lagging behind. The only complaint I have are the controls, I'm playing on a laptop and mixing keys and touchpad is a tad bit inconvenient.

Thanks for your comments guys, we're glad to know you had fun crushing those minions against walls and platforms :D

@barrier @namnam For explanations, we certainly lacked of time to implement proper tutorial situations, so we did our best to put first ennemies and doors in front of the player way to make sure core mechanics would speak by themselves.

@arzi yeah, sorry about that 🙏 we had not enough time to think about how to bind the throw mechanic to a non-directional input. Hope you still managed to explode them all!

Genuinely enjoyed this! Great mechanics, great audio - it seriously reminded me of a 2D Soul Calibur! Would love to see further developments!

Throwing enemies around is great fun! The course being invisible until you paint it is an interesting take on 'start with nothing'

This game is awesome! i had tons of fun playing this game the grab feels super good, the time slow down, blast of paint, satisfying sound and many more... the movement was intuitive and not annoying it just felt nice to jump around... if only paint didn't disappear it would be even better but i understand it could be tricky to keep good performance... amazing job guys!

Great entry! One minor complaint: the rainbow ink splats seemed a bit at odds with the tone of the rest of the game. Maybe sticking with something more monochrome or a single accent colour would have suited it better?

That aside, solid concept + fun to play!

Great game! Sometimes my computer had a hard time running it, going into single digit frame rates. Other than that, it was fantastic!

I am impress by your entry, really fun to play quite challenging but still possible to finish ;)
music is good and ink projection really help to feel the impact of mc punch

Very satisfying combat and it was a lot of fun to launch the enemies at each other and ad the walls.

I had a weird issue where I couldn't attack unless I didn't move for like 3 seconds. I'm not sure if I missed some mechanic but it didn't seem to be happening at first.

Great visuals, punchy sound effects, I definitely enjoyed my experience.

Had such great fun playing this game! Having the colour of the rainbow splash across the screen when I throw an enemy reminds me of a mix between Splatoon and Mortal Kombat, I love it! Great juice, even though I feel like it could've done with a mini tutorial as I wouldn't have known how to play if it wasn't for the description. Great job, keep it up!

Woah! Such a great idea! I really loved the gameplay and how it relates to the theme :) My only grief is the fact it's often hard to grab an enemy because it's not possible to cancel your attack (even if the attack charging time is super long). I'm pretty sure allowing pressing Y during an attack charge to cancel it (and grab an enemy) would make everything much better. Good work!

16. Oct 2019 · 15:57 UTC
Thanks a lot guys for the love!

@deepnight you are absolutely right! Cancel punches has been out of our mind, as the LD has been a total rush from start to beginning. But we'll definitely keep that in mind for any future implementations of those kind of features ;)

Indeed, we considered it strongly but had to cut it because it wasn't a fit into our 72h scope :)

Its a very innovative game and a clever use of the Theme as you start with almost no environmental elements and even the enemies are invisible. It would be nice to see when i'm getting hit cause sometimes I would get killed without anything and even those red rays weren't over me. Overall its fun and really creative. Love the music and especially the art. Nice Work

Hi! Thanks for submitting a game for our stream once again! It was a plesure to see you there once more! The game is great. Can'T find anything to yomplain about no matter how I try.

The game looks very polished and the gameplay is quite a lot of fun an action!

OH SHIT DUDE! I never thought I'd be hit by this game so much...i read your description and all but when I played it...at first i played the WEBGL version and then i downloaded it just to keep it under the archives of my good games. I absolute loved the POLISH in your game <3

Probably the most polished game i've played during this LD. great gameplay and gimmick, feels like a complete product. I wish levels were more linear so throwing enemies around would become less of a luck thing but since they spawn infinitely it doesn't become much of an issue.

Oh wow that game is fun to play! It feels so fun just to punch hidden enemies, hit them again, then throw them, there's some nice rhythm to it. Maybe could have liked just a bit more colour or variety in the scene. I know you were going for the 'everything is blank' sort of vibe, but after a while it makes every part of the level feel, well, pretty much the same. But the gameplay definitely makes up for most of that!
